Reilly/monfries is the yuckiest out of that list. Smith injured as well? Jaensch won't get wingard.

Well it's deja vu all over again.

Didn't they beam last week's match into Adelaide? I don't give a rat's toss bag about the stats, Porps failed to win almost every one-on-one contest. In a team that was being over run, Lyons won the one-on-ones. Sando gave Lyons restricted time in the pre-season, check his disposals per minutes played. The way we have treated Lyons over the last 2 years is a bloody joke, and when we finally give him a go he will prove the point. The apologists however will say "I told you it would help Lyons development by keeping him in the SANFL". Just like Brad Crouch only had a great second half to the season because Sando didn't play him in round one and Mitch Grigg burst on the scene late last season because Sando didn't play him until it was just too embarrassing to continue to overlook him. Just think how awesome Ollie Wines would be this week if Port had played him in the SANFL all year.

But, but, but...... we can't drop Porps, we need experienced players in the showdown. Yes, just like playing Johncock in the Showdown last year. (Does Porps now have full possession of the Stiffy Gold Card?)

And we have to bring back Radar because he was so good before he hurt his shoulder last year. Clearly well in front of that Laird bloke.

Sando, repeat after me, mature players looking good in the twos means absolutely nothing.

Sando has already admitted that he made a mistake playing an unfit Truck last week.

I have no problem with Radar being in our best 22 if he has had a solid month of good performances in the twos. If Lairdy isn't ready then fair enough but why sacrifice Jarryd Lyons on a hunch? I'd love Porps to play a blinder on Saturday but it's highly unlikely. We need players that can lay a tackle and it seems to have escaped Sando's notice that Porps creates zero pressure on the opposition.

P.S. I'm tipping that Kerridge will be dropped for the Sydney match.

I haven't listed Smith as a matchup because I want us to try and get him loose across half back.... Can be damaging.

Two years on and still going strong!

In hindsight wouldn't it have been much easier for you just to admit that you didn't spot the forward tag in that one game instead of this everlasting crusade to save face? However admirable it has been.

You would be very excited to hear that I did spot a GENUINE loose man in defence last year. It was the Gold Coast vs Melbourne game, late in the fourth quarter. The commentators could not for the life of them understand why Melbourne were playing seven defenders at a time they were 7 points down with only a minute or two to go.

Guess who was coaching?

Dropping him is stupid but to be expected now.

If he was an outside mid, he would be playing every week atm. As you said, he's in a position that we are strong in.

You mean Stiffy's gold card where he played 2 games last year? Stiffy played round 1(Sucked) and was dropped. He kicked 5 goals in the SANFL and was recalled. He then sucked in week 3 and was not given another chance. Porps is in this same boat. He had a good preseason. If he doesn't perform in the next 2 weeks its game over (as it should be).

No we have to bring back Radar because our team is woefully inexperienced. We were the 3rd youngest side in the AFL round 1. We have a 150+ game player who has had 2 very good hitouts in the 2's (his last game he got 35+ possessions) who should be recalled every day of the week.

He deserves to be in front of Laird. Laird has had one uninterrupted preseason in his career. He is a young fella. He doesn't have the base fitness as Radar does. Laird is a good footballer - he wont be great. He needs to be at top fitness to be on top of his game and AFL standard. The coaches know this and therefore he will have to dominate SANFL games before he is let in.

I'd rather Lyons than Porplyzia under any circumstances at the moment. Does well when thrown forward, has a neat kick, very good inside and no slower than Porps. Oh yeah, and he tackles. Terrible selection with no thought given to our future going forward as well. Going nowhere fast.

Please clarify Spackler, are you claiming that the only AFL coach to play a loose man in defence in the last 2 years is Neil Craig? Ohhh dear. (To be absolutely clear, a loose man is when the defensive team has one or more players stationed in the D50 compared to the opposition. That is 7 defenders and 6 forwards or 6 defenders and 5 forwards). I will point out the exact time that this first happens on Saturday.

Porps was a totally different player before the shoulder trouble. Hate the way things have gone for him. I still hold out hope.

I think Lyons biggest problem is that we are very reluctant to call time on Thommo right now.

Though, i was also very disappointed on him being dropped.

Stiffy was cooked by the second half of 2011. He lost all defensive skills and Bicks discovered that he was suddenly our next gun small forward (at least until that young kid Callinan came through) The games wasted on him in 2012 were a shame. Bringing him back for the first showdown last year (his contribution of 5 possessions) arguably cost us the match. If Matty Couch comes in and plays a shocker then at least he has had a taste of high pressure footy.

Radar's two good matches in SANFL trial matches mean absolutely nothing. When was his last quality AFL match>

Finally, it doesn't matter how many times Sando/you say it, we were not the third youngest team in the AFL in round 1. Check the facts on footywire and then post your apology. Strangely enough, one of the 5 younger teams in round one were......wearing black and teal.
