No we have to bring back Radar because our team is woefully inexperienced. We were the 3rd youngest side in the AFL round 1. We have a 150+ game player who has had 2 very good hitouts in the 2's (his last game he got 35+ possessions) who should be recalled every day of the week.
He deserves to be in front of Laird. Laird has had one uninterrupted preseason in his career. He is a young fella. He doesn't have the base fitness as Radar does. Laird is a good footballer - he wont be great. He needs to be at top fitness to be on top of his game and AFL standard. The coaches know this and therefore he will have to dominate SANFL games before he is let in.
Please tell me this is some elaborate troll.
Preferring Reilly over Laird, is much like selecting Mackay, playing Porps, continuously selecting Thommo right now. They are not decisions with any idea towards to future, it's just hoping the same players that have failed us many times can magically find a way to win. It's a gutless decision to bring Reilly back and one i am really disappointed in.
I also disagree with your assessment on Laird, there is nothing about Laird game that screams good footballer with limited scope (I.e Jaesnch category which is the vibe i got from that). Laird continues on the same development track as what he showed last season, he'll be one of the better defenders in the league and without a doubt this was a game made for him.
