On centrebet:-

Port $1.72 crows $2.12

Not really overwhelming.

even a split like that is pretty big given it is round 2 and form line just isn't there.

I don't think that is the correct question. What did he do to hold his spot may be more apt. He out performed Porplyzia in the last game significantly in my opinion and the opinion of others. I think the ins are good, just perhaps one of the outs was not.

He came on as the sub in possibly the most taxing game of the round.
Its a wonder he had more energy than all the other players on hte field.

Maybe if they'd both started, we would be able to tell.

Porps had a stinker on the weekend, but one game doth not make a season.

I think where put their hard earned dollars is a better judge than where random people with no vested interest and 12 year olds put in their weekly tips.

That's ignoring the Power supporters everywhere who are already celebrating the win..

He's the most dominant SANFL player we've had for YEARS.

He can't do anymore to demand a spot.

Everytime he's come in, he's performed his role well, especially given he's still a youngster and barely gets to play more than a quarter or two in a row.

Truth and you gotta remember that all of victoria/wa will go "well port won twice last year, and won round 1 and the crows didnt so we'll tip Port"

Disagree.
He's been given a chance a few times, and has failed to do anything more than the man he's replaced or has replaced him.
He hasnt been awful, but he sure hasnt impressed me.

I don't mind Reilly's inclusion so much. Had an excellent 2012, a shaky start to 2013 before injury, and has put in a strong SANFL performance. He deserves a crack at it.

I'm more concerned about the players we chose to retain from last week.

Not pointing the finger at Reilly here, but I keep reading about these strong sanfl performances. I'm a bit of a distance away, but would I be right in assuming that these are sanfl trial games. How does the intensity compare to actual sanfl games.

I'm really not that interested in how he went 10 years ago, though. On that criteria we shouldn't have picked Douglas either. Reilly's 2012 was strong for most of the season - yes, he had a couple of down games at the end but I don't think it was a trend. He had a poor start to 2013 before getting injured, I'll admit. I think he's got something to contribute.

Now why someone like Porplyzia, who hasn't been a good contributor for years, remains in the side while Lyons, who played his role just fine last week, drops out is a mystery to me.

Not stalking stab, but Reilly was poor for a little more than the 'start' of 2013. From memory he was dropped for about round 15 and returned a round or 2. If my memory is reasonably accurate, that would account for a bit more than the 'start' of the season.

The most dominant SANFL player weve had....... gimmie a break

What if that one game is a continuance of the previous year. Lyons out and porp remaining is a horrible decision. Firstly, apart from when sauce is resting, we have 4 designated forwards in LJ, smack, betts & pods. Lyons is a better clearance mid than porps and that's the area where we need to improve. So that makes porps the 5th designated wheel in the fwd line or a sub-standard mid. This is bad for flexibility and rotations. If he ends up as sub, then that's even more stupid at his age and recent form line that is clearly tracking to the end of an afl career.

Gee its almost like we've never tackled anyone at training.
Its almost like they have zero match simulation drills...
wow your ignorance is glaring.

Firstly, if you have been attending any of the pre-season training you would be aware that Reilly sat out almost all of the tackling drills and match simulations in the pre-season (how many training sessions did you attend?)

He had a set back and did not start competitive work until a few weeks ago.

Did you attend either of the SANFL trial matches? If yes, would you rate them as
a) red hot
b) intense
c) competitive
d) better than traffic cones

When Porps subluxed his shoulder he spent the next 4 weeks avoiding tackles. I hope that Radar is ready to go but why take a chance?

Geez baccs, who were our inside accumulators last week. Sloane? Thommo? Danger? Geez we're super strong in that area. Can you remind me in what ratio we won the clearances. This being our strong position and all.
I take it maths isn't your strong suit? It's a one week sample size... Already forgot about 2012 when we were the best midfield in the comp?

This is the problem. Tredrea, as much his poort face irks me, is pretty clued in. Back when we signed Sando he warned that his main drawback would be being too matesy with players so that he can't make the hard calls on them.

Fast forward 2 years and we're seeing precisely that. I think we missed a trick by re-signing him last year with over a season still to run on his contract. Took all the pressure off him. He's never had to say ok their career or mine? A more experienced coach who has faced the axe would never have re-signed porps and thommo after their performance last year given their age and our list profile. Would any decent team have picked up porps or thommo as FAs? Everybody is too comfortable, no pressure incentive to make the hard calls
Thommo is a champion of this club, he deserves time to get out of a form slump. If GWS were seriously considering Joel Corey at the end of last season, Thommo would have definitely been picked up as a FA.

Are you kidding me??? Please tell me you are drunk right now.

You are trying to tell me that an experience coach who has lost 2 first round draft picks over the past 2 years would not have re-signed a guy who was an All Australian, Club Champion and 5th in the Brownlow in 2012 (not to mention in his shit year came 7th in our best & fairest and lead our club in possessions).

Lets not even talk about how this guy was hampered with groin/hip injuries (which the club acknowledged) through the entire 2013 season.

Do me a favour and slap yourself across the face for suggesting we delist Thommo.
Shit, didn't see the part where @mattmac suggested Thommo should have been de-listed in 2013, is the bloke high?

I don't think he will, but it would be hilarious reading on this board if Porps kicks 5 tomorrow and is the reason we win the game.
