We need smart, skilful players not battlers who cannot hit targets. We can only afford to carry no more than 2 or 3 players who footskills and decision making are below average. This would be Dahl, Hunter and Macrae who is hit or miss. Last night we had Wallis and Dunkley who would be a gun if he could hit a target in also. Bont is our only elite player by foot followed by Liba who cannot get a possession. Daniel has dropped but still OK as is McLean and Dale. SUckling is good but is also hit and miss.

I know people like Dunkley but turnovers kill you and his kicking is worse than a 45 year old hack like myself. Webb had a stinker last week and deserved to be dropped but only if JJ was back. I would persevere with Webb over Dunkley for the last 2 games. Dunkelys game last night was just a bad as Webbs the week before and he had not earnt a recall. Bevo selects players who cannot kick and then complains about our skill level bringing it into the fwd half. Fact is if you select players with poor skills and poor decision making it does not matter how many inside 50s you get. Then do not complain about it!

Out. Dunkley, Wallis, Young

IN. JJ, Webb, Morris if fit then Collins. Prefer to see him in over Roberts who struggles to keep his feet.

Libba deserves to be dropped but he to play a lock down role and his kicking can be elite.

Roberts has to come in this week to take Dixon he is the only genuine match up we have for him.

So many poor performers, libba, Wallis, stringer, Dunkley, redpath ( could he be in trouble for the incident with Davis).

Hard to being too many in both smith and Webb have no chance to play and fight for their spot back this week. Jj and Honeychurch both likely to be available by bevos presser, mention of moz but surely not already available.

I get the young got beat so let's drop him but I would actually rather keep him in and play a team with flexibity and 3 talls down back where we can swing one forward if need be.

We lost that game cause we were smashed in the midfield and couldn't kick straight.

What if like to see

Out: Wallis libba redpath
In: jj Roberts moyd

B: young Roberts moyd
Hb: Williams Cordy Biggs
C macrae Bont hunter
Hf: jj Cloke dale
F: Dickson stringer Murphy
R: roughy McLean Dahl
Int: Daniel suckling Dunkley picken

Can swing young or Cordy forward, plenty of midfield and forward line options along with medium-small back options

In
JJ Morris Roberts and maybe Lipinski or Greene to debut

Out
Wallis - running around like a slow headless chook at the moment
Young unfortunately he is not quite a number 1 defender at the moment
Stringer, go back to VFL and kick some goals first
Someone else, don't care who it is but someone must pay

I doubt Dickson plays next week. Gets plenty of work done on his groin/hip during match and he was telling physio he was having trouble running.

I don't have a problem with Redpath and Cloke. Cloke has to 2nd ruck and Redpaths been quite good out on the lead. I think they need better support from the little guys around them. JJ /Honey can help with this.
Dunkley/Wallis too slow.
Defence is undermanned, so we need to keep it out of there as much as we can. Libba has to stay and maybe tag Boak or Wines.
Ryder will be our biggest concern.

Seems like most are calling for Roberts to come in and Young to have a rest. Instead of Roberts, why not give Collins a go. Apparently he's been quite good in the VFL recently and his size might be more of a matchup for Charlie Dixon. (and no, I'm not McCrae ....:D)

Wallis needs to be in the midfield not out of the team.Otherwise give him the off season to learn Matty Boyds role at HBF .And copy his overhead marking.Or his Dads
Unfortunately no gorlila forwards for Collins the next two weeks.Opportunity lost IMO to see his worth.Guess we will never know.

Wallis has to be in the midfield at least 70% of his time on ground. He's a serviceable part time mid sized forward but no more than that. Same with Dunkley in my opinion. He seems a tough and strong inside midfielder to my eye, and his kicking is so poor that he shouldn't be in a position to finish.

Stringer and Libba - I don't know any more, guys. These guys should be top 20 players in the comp, but they are barely scraping in to our best 22 week to week. I am so disappointed with their output this year.

I hate to bring up effort and desire - because most of the time criticism based on these factors is unfair - but there is night and day contrast between Dahl (bless him), the Bont and McLean on one hand and half the side on the other hand.

Bev obviously has a number of challenges, but one of the big ones is how does he change our forward entries so that they are 1. More central, and 2. Received by forwards or mid-forwards with better goalkicking skills like Dickson and ???? and ????.

Out: Young, Redpath
In: Roberts or Collins, JJ

I have to say that the versatility mantra is ringing hollow with me at the moment. Our mids do not forwards make.

I know young was poor but i don't agree with the calls to have him dropped. I think he has shown enough in the last month to say there is a lot to work with and the MC should let him know they see it too. Bring in Roberts, Young can go back to third tall (his correct position at this stage) and drop one of the host of mids who contributed nothing last night.

Its the age old question. They are so similar in style that you have to wonder if you can carry both in the same side? On form I would suggest that we can afford to carry neither.
Both basically played their best footy when the other was out.

I think when both are firing it can work if Wallis rests forward when Libba's in the middle but on present form he can't get near it in the forward line.

Exactly, Libba and Stringer have been s**t all year, yet are still in. Young has one poor game and suddenly he is in the firing line
The best way to test a young players mentality, is to see if they can rebound from a poor game the week after

I think only reason Dunkley played this week was because Footscray had a bye. Bevo knows after so long out he needs football and wanted to give him as many games before hopefully September action. Know he has been back two games and one in seniors should preserve in seniors.
Out- Redpath, Young, Libba or Wallis if Mitch needs a rest. Murphy may need rest as well, looked sore.
In- M Boyd, JJ, Roberts. Strengthening the backline.

Dixon scares me next week. I love Cordy but there's a certain type of player he's not suited to, giving up 6-7cm and 10kg and that's Dixon. We saw that in bits last night too with Patton. I'd give a bit of faith to Fletcher next week.

It'll be hard for any promotions with no VFL game.

Out: Young (good start to his career, work on getting stronger in the offseason), Libba, Dunkley

In: Roberts, Morris, JJ
Dixon will struggle in the conditions. It is so bloody windy at Mars Stadium. He'll do well to clunk many grabs.

I'm pretty sure IDGAF anymore was already playing last night.
Correct, he had 3 Kicks, 7 Handballs and 4 Tackles.

Can't drop young, he needs to play again, but not as last line of Def.

OUT: Red - Libba - Williams
IN: JJ - M.Boyd - Webb

Red will be useless in ballarat, Dickson may not like the wind but can at least go the ground ball, where as the wind will cause Cloke to kick like Dickson :p

Need JJ for line breaking speed, since it might not be a day for accurate passing. Need Boyd and Webb for some physical crash and bash against port.
