Greene copped 2 weeks for sniping Daniel across his jaw from behind which left him dazed. Redpath copped 3 for an open handed shove to the shoulder/neck which didn't hurt Davis.

Yet Greene is apparently the marked man.

******* lol

Sick of this Greene is a marked man bs. The bloke has been let off with a fine for both a headbutt and a kick to the face. More of a protected species than a marked man

Funny I watched for number of weeks blokes banging into the back of JJ with elbows and shoulders.
More chance getting hurt from that crap than what Wood and Red did.
I think if I was Red I would have had to punch one of those bozos on the way out.

No, JJ was just supposed to stand up for himself  Not sure what that means because if he'd retaliated we know exactly what would have happened.

Just don't understand how they let guys like Cotchin off for the jumper punch then pull up Redpath for an open hand push.

Or Patton for his hit on Williams.

Looks like it's all about intend now. Just go into every contest with arms and legs all over the place and say there was no intend I guess.

Well he does have friends in high places.

And don't forget the I was protecting my space and had eyes on the ball to go with no intention.

Apparently Redpath cracked on the stand, and didn't hold up well to the questioning.
But the blame there HAS to go to Gordon and Stary. Redpath needed to be better prepared for the questioning etc that would be coming his way.

My question is why the hell did we choose Rob Stary to defend? Cmon Peter, couldn't you have chosen someone with a bit of a better reputation?

For the people who don't know:

"The 60-year-old Stary is, of course, better known for representing our more notorious gangland figures, including Carl Williams and Tony Mokbel, as well as militant unionists, left-wing activists and one Julian Assange. He is also the lawyer to whom Australian terror suspects turn more than any other.

In the second half of his career, in fact, the depth and breadth of such work has set him apart in the field. And he doesn't just defend radicalised Islamists. Stary jokes that his firm is "inter-denominational", representing freedom fighters, Tamil Tigers and Kurdish separatists – and so defending people both inspired by (and revolted by) Islamic State – all of which has turned him into, for want of a better descriptor, the Terror Lawyer."

On top of this, this is BLOODY FOOTBALL. This a whole different ball game. A more specialised AFL experienced person should have been used.
Love What Gordon has done for club and like him but don't agree with his politics or bringing it into a football club. Sport and politics should be seperate but these days it's rammed down your throats.

Seasons done people. Time to give English another run and give Lipinksi a debut. Rest murph and put our key players on ice for Bob and Boydys fairwell game.

Ins
English, Lipinksi, JJ

Outs
Redpath, Libba, Murph
Wouldn't you rather the boys harness this anger and steamroll port, then the Hawks and either give the AFL a big middle finger by making the 8, or finish the year with a winning attitude... rather then the dejected we give up attitude you've proposed?

Riling up port supporters is pretty easy .. the umpires won you every game last year excuse is delicious.

They're even using it as an excuse pre game this week
Sorry to intrude but now, now Doggy, you have been on our board full of excuses for your team. Really, what do you expect coming over there? It will be a slog for both teams looking at the weather.

He's an idiot, don't worry about him.

I'd rather it but it won't happen. Really unless you win the premiership then it's a wasted season and we aren't winning the flag without a fit wood, adams, T.Boyd etc, with out of form stars, with a significant drop off of senior players, a lack of our fringe players standing up like they did last year. Too big of a mountain to climb imo and we might as well get some games into the long term kids.

This is our hawthorn 09. We will be back and with greater vigour than ever before next season.

I agree we will be back to fire up, and yep the injuries do have us pushing shit up hill, however if we buy some sparkles we can dress the turd up, every week you survive is perhaps another player returning. You just never know, even with our injuries, most teams have been up and down this year, we might catch our finals opponent on a bad day. So long as we are alive, we should play to win.

Yep, I don't want us to be a trivia question of premiers who didn't make the finals the next year. We have to find a way to get past Port and the Hawks.

Or we could use Bob's retirement announcement as motivation to come out & smash Port to have every chance of finals o_O

Totally agree. This garbage of 'I'd rather us miss finals than just make it and get hammered' is nonsense.

If memory serves, we were massive outsiders to go to Perth and beat the Weagles and...

We play to win, make finals and it's a new ball game.

Until the AFL realises intent doesn't matter, then yeah, you have to make it look like it's all part of a natural motion. It's an easy out.

Once they get rid of the intent part they don't have to worry about whether or not it's "accidental". How about if you put your studs up and collect someone in the face, you get punished regardless of if you meant it or not? How about if you slam someone in a tackle and concuss them, you get punished regardless of whether or not you're "just a big bloke who throws himself around"?

Players disguise dirty plays as actual plays. This has been the case in every sport ever, forever. Intent can be impossible to determine. How can you get inside a guy's head to determine what he truly meant? You can't. Just punish guys for doing dangerous shit. It shouldn't be this complicated. Want to eliminate dangerous tackles or bumps? Suspend people for doing them no matter what their intent was.

For that matter, it shouldn't take a guy getting KO'd for the charges to go up. If the head really was sacrosanct, then shouldn't people go for acts that even reaonably could concuss people, even if they don't? Wouldn't eliminating the potential for it to happen be the only way of eliminating it from happening? It's a rough game and shit can happen, and sometimes concussions are going to happen. But sometimes they don't have to.

They say they're going to take all these hardline stances, make one or two "statements" but go back to being inconsistent the rest of the time.

I don't mind them taking a harder stance on jumper punches. But contact to the head is contact to the head. Going studs up or slamming their head into the turf in a tackle should be at least as much of a suspension as a jumper punch. But the AFL's care about brain injuries goes about as far as token statements and one or two token suspensions. But we'll see how reactionary they get when some major newspaper releases a story about footy and brain injuries. That's what it'll take.

And don't forget we'll have the fabled bye! :D

Still crying about losing the "unloseable PF" last year. Waambulance

That cesspool of a franchise is the boyle on the ass of the competition

I find it hard to believe Bob Murphy has not watched a replay of the 2016 GF. Before Saturday's game, Bevo should sit the whole team down, and show the whole game, stopping to point out every moment of desperation that helped them win the game. Remembering their strengths is way they might be able to turn this around, there is still time to turn this around.

Don't get into slinging matches with General Giant and Bokonon. They're both trolls, just report them if anything

You're getting as bad as MD. If you wanna go troll, don't expect to come back here and brag about it or the results. Some of your posting is good but lately the bickering is getting really annoying. Just shrug it off ffs!
