Why are you so keen to get him off the wing?

He took some big marks last weekend.

He took a big contested mark as Brisbane were trying to get out of their D50, one of the few repeat entries we had, and the other that I remember was one he took at half back (I think that was the kick he squibbed).

So often our forwards get sucked up the ground to help out in providing a target when we try to get out of defence from a kick in. The result is then JD/JK having to wait for options to present further up the ground which slows down our ball movement.

I'm really keen on the idea of a wingman who can take big overhead contested marks like a tall, and also run like a mid. It's an exciting prospect, and hope that he fulfils his potential in the middle of the ground.
I'm mostly keen to get him out of the midfield for structural/balancing purposes.

Our midfield balance is waaaaay out of whack. Now Brander can't help the fact that his much vaunted and experienced colleagues can't win contested possession to save their lives at present. However I feel we would benefit more from rotating Kelly, Shuey or even Yeo in Brander's position to provide more versatility and flexibility to our current midfield set up.

Have Redden, Sheed and Shuey on ball and Gaff and Kelly on the wings then rotate them around through out the game. Play Branded as 3rd tall forward but have him rotate with the wingers once a quarter or so. That feels like a more cohesive structure to me.
However; he's showing promise and I hope that he steps up and tears a game apart from whatever position soon.

Spot on!
195cm kid in his 3rd season. If he was earmarked to play a key position role, everyone would be happy to give him time to develop.
But because he's being played in the middle, the expectation is that he should instantly play like a Rowell or Walsh.

The guy is consistently picking up a dozen possessions a game & 7-8 marks, while playing the decoy winger role made famous by Masten. I think that gets a pass mark.
It's not his fault but he isn't a wingman. Unfortunately he needs to be competing with Darling, Kennedy and Allen but all of them have runs on the board....tough decision

Who gets dropped? Surely not Allen as he has looked good. Maybe they piss off Ah Chee and put Allen at HFF?

Not sure

Id say that Naitanui gets a rest week and Hickey plays. Lycett runs all day so suspect we dont want Naitanui chasing him then going into Richmond on a 5 day break (wont happen etc)

Ah Chee out for Jones is a big tick.

Another proper ruckman in (albeit Hickey not Williams) is a tick.

Allen to full time forward is a tick.

Hickey for Ryan is not a tick though. Naitanui out isn’t.

Hopefully it’s Hickey for a resting JK, Allen goes forward, Hick dog to the ruck, Ah Chee fired into the sun.

Clangers vs Brisbane

Yeo - 7
Kelly - 5
Cripps - 5
Naitanui - 4
Redden - 4
Marsder - 4

I actually agree that Brander just had his best game and looked really good at times, first time I've seen what the coaches must be seeing.

But that clanger count doesn't tell the full story, from memory Brander has some costly clangers with very little pressure on whereas many of the others had clangers with opposition right on them.
