You must live in a closet. Not only has been all over the media about Simpson almost getting sacked in 2017 but I have worked with current and past board members of IPL.

You don’t want to face reality and want us to mollycoddle players like Kennedy, which will result in us missing the finals and handing Geelong a nice early draft pick.
It was only in the media for clickbait.

Because people on FB, Reddit and BF talk about, doesn't make it fact.

Gee, you want us to go in even taller?

He can't get the ball if he's always beaten to it by his opponent either

I am not denying that. But I think people expect him to do miracles with the few chances he gets.

Darling is also down. He isn’t old. It’s the midfield. They can’t get the ball. All these issues get fixed when they start doing that.

David King, Basil, Jonathon Brown, Gerard Healy all talked about it. I worked with some IPL Board members - who own the licence for the WCE - and several members would have voted to sack him at the end of 2017 if the Eagles hadn’t made the finals.

I agree with the Mick Malthouse philosophy in times like this: pick youth. They bring energy, hunger and no baggage.
In times like what?

We're playing away from home and are 1-2.
It's hardly the end of the world.

All of these calls to drop champions of the club like JK are premature IMO.
I remember Malthouse dropping Woosha in the 1998 final against the Bulldogs.

The players were devastated and didn't fire a shot.
There's more to coaching than giving the players a serve and making knee jerk selections.

I am sorry, board of IPL?

Media at time also said that board gave him confidence and to ignore outside noise. I remember reading that at the time. So if they simply asked “is Simpson right coach”, which is their job, that’s not same as saying he would be close to getting sacked. Sometimes interpretation of events get more dramatic as it makes for a more interesting story. I know these guys at the top and how they talk. Issue is definition of what “close” is. Did they vote and vote was tied? Or just simply question asked, as mentioned a above.

I know what reality is. I don’t think you see that it’s a delicate situation. Kennedy being removed isn’t going to improve contested ball numbers, is it? If you can tell me how it will, so be it. All I am saying is that there are bigger issues than Kennedy. But people seem focused on secondary issues and not primary.

That’s the reality. As for geelong, what difference does it make to us and why is that relevant to anything?

However development of midfield players needs to be looked at.

Are you talking about the board of the Eagles? The Eagles and Dockers are owned by the WAFC.

So you think our forward line was the problem?

Smashed in inside 50s
Smashed in contested ball
Sheed barely touched it
Kelly barely touched it
Redden barely touched it
Yeo barely touched it

And your solution is to take out forward players? Which forward line functions without ball being, you guessed it, in forward line?

Brander was not the worst. By far. At least he took a contested grab.

We keep rewarding poor performance by seemingly good players. I suspect, like any club, this will go on for 2-3 weeks as coach gives the seasoned players a chance. However after that, heads will start to roll.
This has a 2017 vibe to it.

Our problem has always been our weak as piss midfield.

Too many of our boys aren't fit. The ice rinks we are playing on dont allow us to take advantage of our talls who are by and large better players than our smalls. Season will already be over when we exit the hub.

Gee, you want us to go in even taller?

Yeah it is probably too tall. Would have to play one of Allen or Williams. I’d lean towards Williams just given he is better suited to play second ruck than Allen. I think Gov and Barrass play better when Schoey is in the team though - lets them float/intercept with a bit more freedom.

I think Ryan may have done a serious hammy. He was pushed as he kicked and grabbed for it straight away.

JK is a liability as soon as he or the ball hits the ground, and he goes to ground all the time this season.

Hurn, too slow and his kicking weapon is no longer there consistently.

Put the young guys in their correct positions instead of playing them out of position just to give them a game.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

"Simmo is really stubborn "Simmo nearly got the sack".
if it is common knowledge as you say, I've never read or heard anything like that.
I reckon you're making up stuff to suit your agenda.

People carrying on here like it's the end of the world.
We're 1-2 FFS.

All of a sudden, Simmo can't coach, Mitchell won us the flag etc etc.
Some of you have short memories.
Geelong are in the same boat and they're play at home.

Yep, we're not playing well.
JK and Kennedy have been putrid but name me a key forward that has been tearing it up this year?
Cripps and Petrol haven't got near it either.
Hurn and Duggan have been poor.
Shuey looked sore, Sheed and Kelly were terrible and it's all down to the coach.

Simmo will live and die by the sword.
He will back the boys in and they've usually repaid him/us.

Our next game is at day and if we can beat Port, we're 2-2.
We will also have a block of home games.
Hardly the end of the world.

Very, very big if. Can't find hope in a fantasy world.

Yep, came back slimmed down after the covid hiatus, but not fitter. Seems like the top 22 or so players slacked off, and it's showing - can't run out games in the 2nd half, whereas that has usually been a strength of ours. It's catch up now with a battered midfield, and I see little hope of improvement.

I haven’t seen brander play in ruck and only barely played forward.

So that change doesn’t make sense. They don’t do same things.
This was on the perspective of height. Someone was saying bringing Williams in makes us too tall but not if a similar height player is coming out.

I’m not saying pick Bailey Williams and stick him on the wing, that would be ludicrous.

Brander's test results from his national combine don't suggest he is a ruckman.

His vertical was average.

Because Williams in Brander out cancels eachother.

No it doesn't because they aren't in the same area of the ground. Our forwards have too many talls and not enough pressure small forwards.

You can't have JK/JD/OA in the forward line and Nic and Bailey in the ruck. Brander coming out doesn't cancel out the addition of Williams.

The issue with our mids has nothing to do with Brander being 6'5". We had the similar issues towards the back end of last year, and Brander wasn't in the team.

Does Brander solve the problem?
No, but he is starting to show some good signs that he has a lot to offer in that role.

While JK might be past his best, the club has obviously gone with JD/Oscar/Williams (2nd ruck/fwd) as the KPF players in to the future.

Dropping Brander after he just played his best game, and is constantly improving, doesn't make any sense at all.

It was corkie in his calf.

The dude doesn't have a lot of meat on those bones, and because of that he gets knocked around a little bit.

He has done the exact same thing like 3-4 times, and always pulls up ok.

He'll be fine.

Our forwards have no pressure at ground level because none of them are chasing or tackling. Replacing Ah Chee and his 1 tackle in two games doesn’t cost us any ground level pressure just because Allen is slightly taller than him.

Ah Chee goes, Allen replaces him in the forwardline. Not a pressure issue at all, an improvement if anything.

Petch is the same, no pressure. He goes out, Jones comes in for him.

Brander goes out. Less immobile height lumbering about the ground. Redden or similar gets a more extended run on the wing, Sheed, Kelly, whoever. Someone vaguely vaguely suited to the midfield line.

Williams comes in, replacing Allen in the backup ruck.

There’s no imbalance creates beyond an arbitrary centimetres in the forwardline threshold, but surely nobody can give us less defensive pressure than Ah Chee or Petch are right now.

Ryan has a corked calf .

McGovern scans are okay so will be playing .

Ok, I see what you are saying.

I'm not sure that the forward setup you propose actually functions in reality the way you say it will. But maybe for a day game, it might work.

Brander isn't getting dropped after playing his best game.
