Petch out, thank god.
Gov back in was obvious but immediately we become even less unaccountable with him there.

Honestly can’t see us getting close this weekend, day game helps but Port if they are switched on are contest beasts and we will get smashed as we are soft at the contest.
Preparing for a tough day again, hope I am wrong.

Hickey is such an uninspiring selection. Williams should have overtaken him already as the second ruck. If Naitanui isn’t fit enough to have Williams come in and develop behind him then he shouldn’t be playing.

McGovern for Schofield is obvious, but I thought we looked better with Schofield in.

Rotham and Petch are easy drops, not necessarily without reason, but easy. I wonder if the free passes being enjoyed by Redden, Cripps and a few other senior players will expire soon.

Cole would want to be a lot better than last year. Seems a sideways selection at best.

Oscar got annihilated in the ruck and our momented shifted on it. Hickey is a better ruck.

Seriously though, how long are we going to manage Naitanui's TOG like this? I love the guy and know he's getting older, but he's had a full pre-season and isn't dying or anything. I miss when our number 9 ran until he puked, then ran again.

Keen to see Jones though. Hope he gets a consistent run at it as the next two hands at least would be a tough start to the Eagles career.

I rate him hugely but the "spunk" he has shown has been against second rate WAFL ruckmen. Ports rucks will kill him. His time will come.

If Hickey is in he needs to be playing as lead ruck with NN as his backup. I think we are past the point where we can expect NN to lead the ruck permanently

Hickey being the replacement rather than Bailey Williams just makes it even worse.

Petrucelle being dropped makes sense, he's been on thin ice for a while. Wish there was someone better than JJ of all people to replace him, but oh well

Ah Chee surviving is surprising but I dont hate the fact they're giving him a stretch of games to finally prove himself, or stamp his papers

Hickey is interesting. Optimistically, it might work if he stays on ground even when out of the ruck, rotates forward and operates as relief for both Nic Nat and a tall forward.

Kennedy getting paid games now on the back of previous seasons form.

Favourite player out of form get selection nod....... ahead of more productive rookie......... now where have I seen that tactic before.

I think Oscar got beaten in the ruck mostly by McInerney then got outmuscled by him in a marking contest in defence who luckily missed. He kicked a point after he completely failed to score on his first of his 2 shots at goal. He would get a bath from Dixon. Hickey was terrible in round 1 but he is a more mature body and a genuine ruckman.

I don't know what the stats say, but my gut feel has been that we've been slaughtered in the ruck while Nic Nat has been resting so I don't hate the Hickey inclusion. If the aim is maximum possible ruck power then he is the correct choice right now over Williams or Vardy. I'm on board. 2 players for one position is a sacrifice elsewhere, but so many of our recent problems have started in this area that I think it's worth it this week.

Petch is having a mare and it's probably best for everyone that he's been put out of his misery. Really hope he can find a role in the side, but right now it's not happening and it's painful to watch.

I've no problem with backing in a legend of our club for a few more games.
If you drop JK now, you're pretty much ending his career I reckon.

Will be interesting to see how he goes on Saturday in hopefully fine conditions.
