Changes vs Port

Haven't seen one of these yet...

Obviously Davey is an out.

Grimes looks unlikely after playing less than a half for Casey on Sat and being 'in the hands of trainers'. Not sure about Moloney, guess we have to wait for injury update tomorrow.

Morton, Bate and Cheney named in the best for Casey. Maric also had a good game.

For mine,

Out: Davey, (Dunn, Bennell)

In: Morton, (Bate, Maric)

Not sure if Dunn will be dropped after one disastrous game... probably not.
IMO Bennell has been average at best for a number of weeks. Bring Maric in and let him have a bit more of a crack at it than last time. One thing is certain - Wonna is flying past both of them as the first choice small forward - has been excellent in terms of pressure the last few weeks.

Davey out, which means Maric should get another crack after a good game against the Swans a while back.

If anyone was at the VFL game on Saturday, they would realise Morton shouldn't be brought back in after that effort. Bloody ordinary!

Moloney unlikely to come back, and Grimes also twinged his hammy.

I would like to see Strauss and Bate brought back in for a couple of games - both were very good for Casey on the weekend.

So, my other changes would be Watts dropped (I know we need to get games into him, but I think we also need to re-inforce that performances like that shouldn't get rewarded)

Which means Bennell may be forced out after a few quiet games.

So after all that:

OUT: Davey, Watts, Bennell

IN: Maric, Strauss, Bate.

if you drop watts you have to drop Dunn, he just lacked any effort, at least watts laid 5 tackles and chased.... also i think that even if Watts retains his spot (which he should IMO) he will be talked to at training by DB and by some senior players... IMO one change, Strauss up for Davey

IF I was to say what I think will actually happen I’d envisage just the one change:

Out: Davey
In: Maric

More as a reward for being last in so first out the other week.

But what i would like to see is given we can't make finals we may as well start putting some games into players that may be part of our future rather than those that it’s highly unlikely.

Bartram is an absolute butcher with the ball in his hand. Tries really hard and has had a great year but lets be honest he is just keeping the seat warm for Strauss. PJ has also played pretty well, but one play sticks out in my mind from the weekend. The guys down back were doing really well with perfect movement of the ball to find space when under pressure, sadly last in line was PJ, and under the least pressure of all he grabs the ball and kicks it blindly and is marked by Osborne (?) 40m out all by himself.

I’d like to see:

Out: Davey, Bartram, PJ
In: Maric, Strauss, Fitzpatrick

No point in trying to cover all possibilities as I'll be off anyway.

Obviously Davey out and I'd like to see Maric back in for the last 2 games. Apart from that I'll wait and see.

Not trying to justify it here but I would be surprised if the club didn't give Miller a send off game either this week or next in front of a home crowd.

The paper and coach were wrong? Please explain to the people that weren't at the game.

In: Warnock, Bate, Morton, Maric, Cheney
Out: Davey, Trengove, Bennell, Watts, McDonald (rested so he can play his 250th at home)

Now that the season is over we should see what the fringe are capable of.

1. Knee-jerk reaction, we still want to win the last two games.
2. You brought in two defenders, two fwds and a utility for three mids and two fwds.

Just calling it as I see it. I gave a rundown on a few players in the VFL thread. I thought he showed very little intensity and poor decision making.

I would like to see Bate back in the side, i think we really missed a target across half forward. To many times we had the ball coming out of the backline and no one leading at the kicker. I would like to see Maric come in for Bennell who has been quiet the last few weeks.

In: Bate Maric
Out: Davey (inj.) Bennell

Stupid comment.
The guys get close to BOG in his last two games and then you drop him for one bad game.

OUT- Davey, Bennell
IN- Maric, Tapscott

no way we should be 'resting' players. I want to win the last two games, and Bails and the boys want to as well!

Dropping Dunn would be harsh, I think the one change Maric for Davey.

Interesting concept giving Miller a send-off game, depends whether Bailey is part of the Neil Craig school of thought or not. Really, if Dunn or Watts has another shocker this week, bring him in, but only if he plays well at VFL too. Otherwise its Bater-time

I'd be very disappointed if we put in a bad one this weekend. We have a terrible record in Adelaide, but Port are very ordinary at the moment. Big challenge for us this weekend.

In
Maric (unlucky not to be still in the senior team)
Morton (too good a player to be in the reserves)
Bate (replacement for Watts)

Out
Davey (Injured)
Benell (ordinary last month)
Watts (needs to got back and learn how to win a contested ball)

Need some improvement from Trengove, Jones, Dunn and PJ this week. Would love to see Strauss/Blease/Tapscott get a game by years end, but is looking unlikely.

Team Swap for this match if possible:

IN: Jackson Trengove
OUT: James Strauss

Still cant believe we didnt select a KPP with that pick!!!!

Crusty, You have my support however you will only get 2 out of 3 guess which one is in no danger?

Do you think Sam Blease is the ideal replacement for Davey?

1) Davey (Pace) for Blease (Pace)

2) Give Blease a crack in the seniors for preparation in 2011.

3) AAMI - Ideal ground for midfield pace. We need to inject pace to combat Port in this ground.

I like to bring in Bate as well for more goal kicking power as AAMI is a horror ground for the club. I recalled Bate played well last time against the Crows bagging 4 goals :thumbsu:

In: Blease Bate
Out: Davey (inj) Bartram

Morton maybe another option if Blease is not ready.

Yeah, fair enough. I'm torn as to what to do with Watts right now. He needs game time no doubt, but after his last 2 games, i think Bate would be of better service to our club to try and win our remaining matches....

Would love to see Blease, but surely he's just not ready - physically, fitness, match conditioning. He's probably only played 2 full games for the Casey 1's, not nearly enough after 1 1/2 years out. Certainly wouldn't be able to play midfield.
And Morton would be ahead of him on form anyway, not to mention Maric, Tapscott etc.
