Very interested to see how this pans out. With multiple defensive options could Grima become a potential CHF with Tarrant not showing much?

He has hops so One thing he does do very well is jump and punch (now mark) the ball at a very high point which would make him difficult to spoil. Would provide more at ground level than Tarrant or resting ruckman as well.

An experiment I'm willing to see trialled

Am over the moon the Grima is back in, definately in our best 22.So no ruckman to replace the injured Hmac? Not sure what that means TBH, or does it mean we don't really need Goldy & H but if they're both fit, we've should play 'em.

Cause should Goldy go ok and we win, I kinda can't see Hmac ever getting back in the side.

I think C Delaney will get a stomach bug come saturday = "late in" for Cam Petersen.

Hmac´s career in the balance over a win against Pt Adel I dont think is quite right. But I too would like to see last years model in action, without Hammer. I think its smart the B Scott keeps Hmac playing games when it suits, so he has currency end of season because Collingwood is screaming for a Ruckman and we might pick up a decent trade in return.

In: Grima, Warren, Greenwood
Out: Hamish, Anthony, Wright

Very good changes

Geez Brad. Talk about making a statement... NOT!

The fact that two of the outs are injured makes it the poorest attempt at an "axe swinging" I think I'be ever seen. It' s about as half arsed as the players effort last weekend.
What happened to all these inform vfl players you were talking about that deserve an opportunity? Was Pederson's bog effort on the weekend not good enough for you?
Where's Mullet?

Speaking of Pederson, he would have been a great inclusion this week from a team balance this weekend but no why would you do that?

The ins create a rather unbalanced team yet again with too many talks down back, no talks up forward when Petrie pinch hits in the ruck. Though that said, we barely play a forward line anyway.

Gee the players must be shaking in their boots right now!

SOFT!

Harper is surely on his last chance. He's lucky to escape the axe.

He's hardly been poor BE. I concede that he may be close to needing a rest.

He came off two games as sub. One where he impacted it well against Geelong.

He got us going against the Suns. Should have had 4 goals instead of 2.

Just the last two weeks, he isn't impacting the contest (like many on the weekend) and needs to get his hands on it more.

My opinion is that B Scott has taken the easy route in dropping L Anthony......he could of done way worse and had more impact on the playing group by dropping a bigger named player or players.....really disappointed with B Scott and the out this week!!!

So confusing after all the talk about getting the Axe and making Arden St look like a war zone. And what do we do drop 1 player 2 out with Injuries so now maybe we should bring out the Mashmellows again(Joke).I wanted Brad to rip them another 1 and show who was the boss. But No we drop LA(shocking)and the passengers get away with a free ride.
I will watch with Interest and hope the boys that escaped the Axe will no 1 more crap performance and see ya down at Ballarat/Werribee.

Totally agree.

BON talks it up and delivers with the force of a feather duster. As a coach he makes a great TV Expert. We'll beat the lowly Port and then Brisbane and he'll be espousing our return to "what north is about". One week later and he's scratching his head again as we fall against another top 4 team in Hawthorn at Aurora.

Whilst I don't disagree with LA it seems farcical to think that he was the only one that should have made way.

I truly hope that I'm wrong but I see little light at the end of the Scott tunnel.

breeno you suggest that Anthony "often turns it over because players aren't running hard at him." No Anthony turns it over because he has a tendency to kick it blindly. Anyways Anthony is stiff to be the only player "dropped" this week. I dare say his omission has nothing to do with his "gut" running or ball finding ability, but more to do with his turnovers, attack on the football and defensive side of his game.

I'm really amazed that the coaching staff dropped Anthony after last weeks game.
He probably worked harder last week than 80 % of the team but did make a mess of most of his disposals.
It's a certainty that pedo will come in for one of the back men.

Harsh on LA.
Was up and down but hes been made the scapegoat.
Would like to see one of the Delaneys out and Pederson in.
Its seems Brad wants to load the backline with our best defenders as the gameplan gets worked out into the game.

You probably think I'm nuts but one I would have dropped would be Ziebell.

The message would be "Jack, you have all the skill and ability to be a premier midfielder in this competition but playing one standout game every four weeks ain't gunna cut it."

If Bastinac had pen to paper already, he'd find himself in the same boat.

Edwards would be out. He has developed a habit of either dominating for half a game and then going missing or he just goes missing right from the start. When was his last 4 qtr effort? Azza, you are one of the more experienced players in this group. You need to start showing some on field leadership out there and not be such a front runner.

Harper would be out. Sorry but 3 or 4 great kicks in a game is not enough, I don't care how young you are. Sure he might be a great player one day but getting a free ride the way he is right now is probably not doing him any favours.

Call it crazy. I call it tough love. Raising the bar. Setting a standard necessary for a top side.

nah, the FB fans love Ziebell and Bastinac so no one would entertain dropping them.

Tbh, it crossed my mind (what I would do if I were coach), but it's a risky as **** move.

Pedersen is what we need, a big body who can take the oppositions number 1 forward or be a target in the forward line and take some pressure off petrie.

Both were insipid against the Dogs just when you thought they might lift a level. I love Jack like he's a part of my family, but he deserved to be given the flick. If Anthony got dropped because of his non- committal to certain contests, then Basti should of gone as well. The Ex Captain also if we wanna go down that path.

Agree 100%

'Twas exactly my point earlier that many missed because they wanted to carry on with the LA bashing.

I couldnt agree any more here Tazaa :thumbsu:

It's called balls breeno. Short term. Short term pain for potentially a long term gain.

But it's about setting a new standard going forward that will put us in a position to be competitive in finals. The way we are travelling right now we can totally forget about finals! We're wasting our time.

Too many of our kids are becoming a little too comfortable. As far as I'm concerned, the honeymoon is over. It's time to deliver.

And it's not unheard of when it comes to top players being dropped. Dal Santo is one that comes to mind. More often than not there is a positive result. It at the very least shows the character of a person.

Are you guys who are glad LA is gone, and called it, the same ones who voted for him as 3rd best player for North in the votes this week?

Slight double standard dont you think?

so much for wielding the axe. 2 injuries and 1 omission.

Would have liked to see another one cut as well and make it a bit of a statement. I would have thought Ziebs or Edwards were close but guess not.

Agree Harper is a future gun but his output so far is not enough to be selected for 4 quarters. Make him the sub or give him a run in the 2's.

If Hmac and Wright didn't get injured I would say 3 would have got dropped. Im happy. I like the changes and I really like the Ins. Would have been nice to see one more omission, but in saying that Gibson would have been only one I would look at. Pederson, Hansen have obviously pissed Brad off and Mullet just not an AFL footballer yet. Think mackenzie is a much more polished player.

i'm only surprised that Gibson was/has not been given an oportunity?

think this game would have been right for him, i would of hoped this guy
would provide a bit of mongrel that we lack.

ins out frankly does'nt matter

i want to see commitment, passion, effort and the old red hot go....not last weeks crap...

I'm only surprised about how often it needs to be said that he cannot play as he is a rookie.
