Because of the rest of my comment. Your team just looks a lot better than the previous week, aside from missing Jetta.
We may look better than last week in paper but we lost by 40 to St Kilda.

You are a much better side than St Kilda.

Who the **** is going to take Riewoldt and Lynch? This is set up for Balta to kick a bag too.

The only way we'll win this if by going all out offensive and hoping we outscore them.

I have a feeling this is going to be a huge huge loss for us, which we deserve.
It make me feel sick that there is no perceived way of fixing anything this year, big changes are required across the board to resolve issues.
Can we poach some hawks assistants or something?

Balta is absolutely ******* useless, barely has the tank to run through the banner before the game.

Which makes him primed to tear us apart tbh. 5 goals.

Also I might be wrong, but our game plan seems very high risk/reward with our defence the risk and forwards the reward.
Miss and forwards are misfiring badly, meaning we are all risk.
On top of that, of def stocks are depleted, so we are more exposed there.

Why haven’t we adjusted the game plan? This is the “definition” of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result)

I honestly reckon we'll see a much improved performance tomorrow night. That might not be enough to get the win but I think we'll see better signs from our team going forward. I wouldn't tip us, but personally I think we're still a good shout to win.

Whilst you are correct about his tank, I wouldnt say he is ****** useless , The kid is a genuine 18 position payer and has just turned 19 so a long long way to go but extremely confident that in 1-2 years we will all be talking about him similar to Curnow. This kid has it and not alot of players have the assets he does
195cm 95kgs , great agility and leap and extremely quick also a beast when he is tackling usually players feel crunched.

He is currently useless. I don't care about what he'll do in 1-2 years, it's not relevant to this match.

Yeah, that's my biggest frustration. I can't remember if I posted it, or I was just ranting in my sleep, but surely a change should have been made halfway through Round 1, or Round 2 at a minimum, to throw support to the backline given our massive talent shortfall back there.

Instead, we're persisting with not only the same game plan that isn't working this year, it's the same game plan that didn't work last year before we changed it a few rounds in, and whodda thought, went on a winning streak.

Thank goodness the brains trust didn’t pick the Wagner boys. With all due respect to them both are not AFL footballers. Probably nice kids but that doesn’t help us win games. Hore named to play on Jack R he is giving away height and experience. T’Mac must play down back or we are in for a flogging. Gawn needs a huge game given Preuss is out. Weideman probably goes in the ruck when Gawn needs a rest and Smith goes forward. The boys will need to play well above themselves to be any chance. I did have a sneaky look at the $3.30 on offer for us to win 1 to 39 points, but I couldn’t bring myself to part with the hard earned. Was going to have a $20 spot - might have another look tomorrow before the bounce.

I wonder if we'd have recruited May if Lever had played the full season last year. The Goody plan clearly relies on having a more talented backline capable of pulling off more difficult plays, and giving up so much for May seems like a particularly desperate attempt to fix what was lacking last year and what we thought we couldn't wait for Lever to come in sort out.

There was proably an element of it ... or at least, May will fill the void until Lever comes back, and when he does we're rock solid ... working a treat really ...

You'd hope that the Lever/May/Hibberd/Jetta/Salem/Frost/Fritsch backline doesn't concede a single ******* goal to make it worthwhile.

Eh, if the Bulldogs trading in Tom Boyd on millions can be seen as a win because his one and only good game for the club was in a premiership, I'm ok with giving May longer than 6 weeks before making judgement.

This could get messy. Definitely going to be a popcorn night.

Riewoldt and Lynch are going to be a worry - looking at the available players, you'd think Frost on Riewoldt and TMac on Lynch are the matchups, but Riewoldt is going to be far too cluey for Frost and TMac can't get near it in the forward line at the moment so thrusting him on to the #1 forward seems like a Crazy Goody move. Actually more worried about the likes of Martin, Caddy, Castagna, Rioli, Lambert, Higgins, etc because we match up pretty badly on them as well. Strangely enough we've gone with a short yet still slow backline who are going to struggle whether the balls in the air or on the deck. Would be okay if the midfielders and forwards locked the ball in the other half, and at least we've made some selections that will help on that front, but its hard to see us putting up much of a contest.

Boyd was 19yo when they got him in at least, he could still come good. At least he'll play 200 games for the Dogs, who even knows if May will notch up 100 for us.

Gonna need to hope Gawn, Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes and Oliver have a ******* on night because our only chance of this not blowing out is to smash them in the middle. Could still turn out like the Geelong game though.

TLDR The problems from last year are still here and Richmond by 30+. Nice to see Garlett in the team the players omitted I agree with.

A big problem from last year (and this) is when the ball hits the ground in the oppositions forward 50 the team gets ripped a new one. With Jetta out and Richmond specialising in small zippy forwards this will be even more of a nightmare.

Another big problem is that Melbourne do not have a midfield capable (at this point in time) of delivering the ball in an elite manner for the forward group. Richmond have experienced and capable defenders so that is going to be a big problem. Unless Melbourne play Melksham as the outside runner or something... But that is just a temporary fix as he is needed in the forward line.

The forward group needs a year to work itself out. Weideman looks like he is going to be a big asset but that is another 2 years away. McDonald is an excellent forward but not alone he needs some support. Pruess being out is a big loss (and he has only played a handful of games). Melbourne to be at the very best has Garlett firing in it (and not back door joe the goose Garlett either). So that is a positive.

I also look forward to watching all the midfielders climb on top of each other to win the ball at bounces against 1 opposition player, only to cough it up to all the opposition players waiting on the outside.

I believe in this team BUT the development of players is not going as fast as I would like it.
