Whilst you are correct about his tank, I wouldnt say he is ****** useless , The kid is a genuine 18 position payer and has just turned 19 so a long long way to go but extremely confident that in 1-2 years we will all be talking about him similar to Curnow. This kid has it and not alot of players have the assets he does
195cm 95kgs , great agility and leap and extremely quick also a beast when he is tackling usually players feel crunched.

Aren't you the same guy who thinks Dan Rioli > Gresham?

That might have been 2 years ago .............

Rioli was kicking 4 goals against GWS in the prelim and dominated the 2017 finals series to get a premiership medallion

But the Gresham kid has come on since

It was the last preseason mate, if you really want I'll go digging in the rank the 2015 draft thread. Just pointing out you may be a touch biased with your predictions, saying Balta will be as good as Curnow is a bit over the top.

Could be and to be honest there was not alot in it until this year where Gresham has been magnificent and im sure you will find my post that also say that this year.

Even though they both play as small fowards they are playing a very different game style where ours is more about pressure and defence in the foward line and the Stkilda model is more freedom to be the attacking player but less defensive.

But Dan Rioli is no slouch either and totally destroys backline's with his tackling and pressure

Yeah maybe i am Bias to a degree as we all are ........... are we not

( never said Balta is as good as curnow , I said in 1-2 years we could be talking about him like curnow)

Forget about the all situation. Ground balls in the D50 have been the biggest problem and our small defence is gonna be Lewis, Hibberd who's cooked and Fritsch who's played like 10 games in defence against Rioli, Butler, Castagna and Higgins.. that's the real ******* problem

Shame that Frost is going to be occupied with Lynch/Riewoldt or he could lay a few of them out.

yeah its a problem alright. I reckon we'll throw Hunt and maybe Lockhart back this week. but we really need to find some decent small defenders going forward. hopefully both of those 2 can take a step up with a good run of games in defence now that Jettas out for an extended period. and fingers crossed Jordan comes on a bit this year in the VFL, and Neitsche shows something next year, but we're probably gonna have to hit the draft again this year for smaller defender types. also it would of been good if we'd used our first pick at the draft last year to get a running defender sort with good skills instead of another inside mid with a hack kick.

Also I might be wrong, but our game plan seems very high risk/reward with our defence the risk and forwards the reward.
Miss and forwards are misfiring badly, meaning we are all risk.
On top of that, of def stocks are depleted, so we are more exposed there.

Why haven’t we adjusted the game plan? This is the “definition” of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result)
I think you have hit the nail on the head. We definitely play high risk high reward. The problem is we are making mistakes at every line. Particularly when we do it in the forward line. As soon as that ball starts coming back our mids and forwards wont or work hard enough and our backline seem to have no idea what's going on. I feel like they're over coached. Surely the coaching staff see the zoning isn't working and get them to just find a man.

Was listening to Nick riewoldt this morning he was talking about how Melbourne would attack and be out numbered it would come the other way and we would be outnumbered in the backline. How does that happen?
I was starting to feel ok about this game until I saw Richmond's forward line and now im worried. I would be happy if we just make it hard as possible for the tiger's to score we don't score anyway.

Highly unlikely, expect him to lose his spot as early as next week.
any reason for that? with most of your outs this week being players dropped and the medium term injury to Jetta i thought he may have a decent crack at it. Those reasons combined with him not actually being dropped on his last chance (late withdrawal injury) and the overall form of the team.

Scoring ability the other question even if he did have JS (in RDT format for my curiosity as opposed to the original posters SC question)

Interesting to note in the past 12 months, some huge changes since they played each other. Melbourne has some good ins since last time, and Richmond still has a lot of players out, with these new guys like Ross, Balta, etc. Based on this I think Melbourne has a chance here. The backline is the main worry for you guys. I feel like Melbourne right now is bottom of the barrell desperate. They could do what Carlton did and win on pure adrenaline after being bashed by the media for weeks.

Good to see some run brought into team. TMac surely plays back with Smith coming in. Keep the F50 unpredictable. We clearly can't hit targets anyway. So keep it mobile. I reckon this game just has the makings of a 40 point loss where Tiges get out to an unassailable lead and then take the foot off the pedal. I don't mind the changes, but can't see us getting close..

Thank goodness the brains trust didn’t pick the Wagner boys. With all due respect to them both are not AFL footballers. Probably nice kids but that doesn’t help us win games. Hore named to play on Jack R he is giving away height and experience. T’Mac must play down back or we are in for a flogging. Gawn needs a huge game given Preuss is out. Weideman probably goes in the ruck when Gawn needs a rest and Smith goes forward. The boys will need to play well above themselves to be any chance. I did have a sneaky look at the $3.30 on offer for us to win 1 to 39 points, but I couldn’t bring myself to part with the hard earned. Was going to have a $20 spot - might have another look tomorrow before the bounce.
Ladbrokes id doing 2.50 for the Tigs to win, max of $50. Free money unless we pull off a miracle, in which case you won't miss the money.

I actually feel more confident going into this game than I did the Saints game. I think the 4 day break is going to impinge on their high-pressure, run-and-gun game style than it is our hack-it-forward-and-pray game style.

We'll win this and then lose by 12 goals to Hawthorn. Lock it in. :padlock:
