Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

More like he doesnt want to coach his kid.

I dont want him to coach his kid.

Good point, forgot about that.

That is a difference in situation and one that Melbourne should avoid.

Probably not bad to have a bloke not auditioning for the job but wanting to make the team as attractive as possible to a coach that you want to lure.
From all reports the side showed plenty for a potential coach to want to get his teeth into despite the margin at the end.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Out: Davey, Bartram, Morton, Sylvia, MacDonald

In: Jetta, McDonald, Davis, Fitzpatrick, Bail

Lets debut the **** out of some of our players. Time to see if they can play because it's an essential year for list management.

out macdonald i dont think you watched the game did you

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

I was just rapped with Blease yesterday, instent replacement for Scully will probably turn out better for what I seen :thumbsu:

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Green has to come in if fit (despite his form). I like Jetta's tackling and intensity and he was close to best on for our reserves, so I'd like him to play too.

IN: Green, Jetta

OUT: Bartram, Sylvia

Bartram's skill errors were just too much for me to cop. Yes we all love his intensity and pressure, but seriously, his misses against the Eagles killed us.

Sylvia was selfish and looked like he didn't want to be there.

I also thought about dropping Davey too, but it's his 150th this week and I reckon he'll be desperate to fire. He'd be an ideal sub too (maybe not for a milestone game though).

I've got a horrible feeling Richmond will beat us this weekend.

I like your optimism but to say Blease will turn out better than Scully is going a little bit too far.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

ok 1.
Rohan bail has missed 2 months of footy and he has just got through a VFL reserves games, no way in hell he is playing
2. Gawn is not ready for afl level, maybe against GC but you have to drop either martin or jamar
3. Gysberts is injured, i dont think he is even gonna be fit

dont know who to bring in

but out - morton, davey, sylvia

ive officially lost patience with morton

yep not sure about the extent of gysberts injury but if its a broken scaphoid then its a serious injury that will require surgery and one that you can never recover completly from..if so his season will be over

This takes the cake for the most imbecilic comment i have ever sense.

I have watched VFL games of Blease and now this AFL game, he is one of the worst kicks i have ever seen, constantly shanks kicks that dribble long the ground. Its not that he misses targets, his kicks rarely get off the ground to make it to a target.

If you have watched him in the VFL you will know this is a constant thing, the kid cant kick on the run. Had a nice shot at goal that went in the air and spun backwards when he steadied himself but it didnt have the distance.

Even if he is the fastest player in the team he is no good to us if he cant kick on the run.

Agreed, an interesting note is that in the post-match conference Viney stated he thought Blease would be a 'star'.

Contrast that with Howe being a 'good player'.

The club obviously has big raps on him and I know that a few recruiters considered Blease to have the biggest upside of any mid in the 08 draft.

All it takes is confidence, I remember him being an excellent kick of the ball as a junior. Literally one of the best out of 08.

I think he has tried to over hit the ball in the VFL, when you are running full tilt you just need to worry about getting a smooth connection as your legs are already doing the work.

He didn't make too many errors yesterday, was promising for a 2nd game player.

great post, i bagged Blease a few weeks ago but he was outstanding yesterday.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Would rather Martin as a full forward, simply because he is more athletic, in better form and has done well up forward previously this year.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Some thoughts:

Don't know if Jamar is 100%. Was heavily strapped and heard on the radio had to go down during a quarter for a jab or two. May as well being Gawn in and give him a bit of time to get over it against the Tigers' rucking powerhouses.

Green had "Back spasms" at training, so should probably be back (surely Viney wouldn't drop him for form and be too gutless to say so).

Keep Morton in, he earnt his way from VFL so let him play where he was racking up nearly 40 possessions.

Jetta seems to be most likely of the Casey boys to come in.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

We should leave Cale in and play him loose in the backline, try to make him look good. It's the only way we will get anything for him in the trade period.

In: Jetta
Out: Scully, why develop a kid for GWS?

Or play him in the midfield where he belongs and allow him to flourish in the position where he's most likely to become one of our best players.

Nah, your suggestion where we play him in a completely assinine position to try and get a pick in the 30's for him sounds far more productive

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

I know I'll get sprayed for this, and I know his game last week was ordinary, but I'd like to see Warnock play the last 3.

He has talent and should have the opportunity to show what he can do against 3 below-par teams. If he doesn't perform he gets shown the door. If he does he stays on the list as backup and gives us the opportunity to rotate defenders in the better years to come.

Not sure who gets dropped from the backline though....

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Wouldn't mind seeing Tom McDonald get a run in the forward line this week.

Out: Tapscott, Nicholson
In: Macdonald, Jurrah

Taking out two defenders, one of whom was in our best half-dozen yesterday; and replacing them with a first game KPD playing as a KPF, and an injured forward who is lacking form anyway. What?

Lift your game, Rude.

I think we've done this too many times, given players we don;t think quite have what ti takes too many chances to prove themselves, then jumping at any sign of competence and re-signing them.

I'm vaguely confident in marking Warnock's card. Maybe there's a spot for him elsewhere, but not Melbourne, not with Davis and McDonald and MacDonald showing as much as they have this year.

Re: Changes vs Gold Coast

Out: Davey (could easily attribute 3 goals to WC from his non-effort / wait outside for the easy handball)

In: Jetta (at least he offers something and actually tackles!)
