Can anyone shed some light on why the guy who finished 3rd in our B&F can't get a game ahead of guys that last year were either on an SANFL list or were playing in the VFL for the majority of the year? It's not like Logan is even very much older than those guys so it's not a question of playing youth.

OUT:
Renouf; honest effort but state league standard at best
Pfeiffer; can't see what this guy brings to the table

IN:
Redden; let's face it, compared to Renouf he seems pretty good
Logan; needs to be in the team in my opinion, unsure what his role might be but would give a better effort than Pfeiffer

Because he can only play one role, which is tagging the opposition half back flanker. He's not damaging, not attacking and doesn't possess enough tricks to be more than a bit player. Yes he's brave and and a good endurance runner, but that's about it.

Should be captain then ;)

He showed signs in the pre-season to suggest otherwise

Out Primus falloon SANFL aami Pfieffer Reneouf Schulz broadbent

In Malthouse Arizona afl AO redden Moore d Stewart Brett Ebo

I'm with TSW Rodan sub or nothing

I cant see us dropping Cassisi, despite the fact hes probably been in our bottom 3-4 players of the year to date

I've now convinced myself that he has to go (as in be dropped). No passengers.

Actually.

Lets do this.

Out:
Schulz - I see nothing, noooothing.
Pfeiffer - I actually see nothing.
Renouf - Not in our Top 2 Ruckman. Bass > Renouf.
Cassisi - "Rested"

In:
Redden - I wasn't played due to Primus having less idea than a Frozen Thawed Shrimp
Lobbe - Comes in, rested up forward.
Salopek - I like you Sal. Play like you did in Round 24.
Moore - Needs more Moore. Plays as Banner is injured and need him up forward to crumb.

Squad Changes:
In Sub: Rodan
Out Sub: Young

Emergencies: D. Stewart, Hitchcock, Ebert.

I quite liked Pfeiffer actually. He got well stuck in.

Dunno about that. We turned him into that defender from being a midfielder. His best game at AFL by a long way was in a Prelim Final playing as a pure midfielder. Was close to BOG that day. The 2nd half of 2008 he played as a pure midfielder and had a great finish to the year. It was only through the second half of 2009 and the start of 2010 that we started playing him in a back pocket.

Its like trying to pick out the best Potato's at your local Coles, some might look better on the outside but at the end of the day they are all spuds.

well said sir

I'm going to ignore that fact that Cassisi is the captain because he was rubbish today and has been all year. Just going to drop/promote players based on whether I think the team would be better off or not

Out: Schulz, Cassisi
In: Redden, Hitchcock

Chuck Wingard in the guts for the first half and sub him off for Rodan when he runs out of gas. Hitchcock can take up Wingards spot in the forward line.

Stop messing around with our so called elite midfielders of the future. The kid's got guts and determination, let him try and influence the contest.

Without seeing the game it's difficult to know what changes are needed, but simplistically it should be:

(-) the players who deserve to be dropped based on AFL form (+) the players who deserve to be added based on SNAFL form.

Is there a list that can be made?

Can't see Pearce being dropped on that game. He seemed to be consistently trying to create run and carry from half-back, and take risks. A solid effort to try and turn his play around from recent weeks. Can't see Primus taking a stand on Cassisi yet either unfortunately.

Out: Schulz (injury), Hartlett, Renouf
In: Redden, Lobbe, Salopek

As much as I'd like to see Hitchy back in the side, I think a run in the SANFL might be in order to give him some match fitness before slotting him in, unless he comes in for Rodan as the sub.

I don't think Logan or Thomas have the creativity to fit into the role that Hartlett is meant to be playing. I wouldn't say he's been useless; think a lot of his problems are due to a stagnant midfield who aren't working hard enough to create options for him to kick to. Probably because they're working overtime chasing the opposition midfield as it runs rampant at every stoppage.

One of the problems we continue to face is that we have a lot of players (in fact most of them) who do the bare minimum to be ok or average, but don't elevate their performances beyond that.

The midfielders all fall into this boat.

Boak - 24 possessions. Fair game, but not enough to contribute to a victory.

Brad Ebert - 15 possessions, two clutch goals. Solid. But literally half the influence on the outcome as his opponents.

Pearce - 19 touches. Some run. In a strong side, a nice little cameo performance. In Port's 2004 team, a guy like Pearce would serve his purpose ala Schofield. But we're not the 2004 version of Port, and when none of our ball winners plays at an above average level, it leaves great uncertainty as to who should take the fall and be dropped.

As a result, Boak, Hartlett, Pearce, Brad, JMac, Dom, Broadbent just continue to rack up the average games and we have "competitive losses".

If there is a line in the sand to be drawn, it needs to be about demanding that unless players take their game to the level required for victory, they will be dropped. Unfortunately, that would be a fair chunk of our team.

Shifting some deck chairs on the Titanic won't make a difference - the Club needs a fundamental review of recruiting, coaching and player development because we have fallen a fair way off the pace of AFL footy.

Keith Thomas, over to you.

the sad part is I don't see any players we bring in from the sanfl, making our team any better......
We are an average squad, and playing like one !

P.s. Who was on Dangerfield ? Why wasn't something done ? You can't let a player get 40 touches primus !

OUT: Schulz, Broadbent, Pfeiffer
IN: Redden, Salopek, Phillips

Salopek is a better player than Broadbent.

Let Butcher lead up the ground with Westhoff and a resting ruck playing closer to goal. Phillips and Wingard crumbing.

Try Cassisi as a defensive forward or back, if he can't do it bring Logan or Moore in.

Out: Schulz broadbent pfeiffer
In: redden Moore Philips

But really we need to change where the players are playing put hartlett in the middle put Pearce in the middle let's just try something

Well, I would have sworn that Hartlett didn't get near the centre square yesterday, as I don't remember him getting one possession or laying a single tackle from a bounce down. But REH detailed all the occasions he was in the starting centre square mix during the second half. Makes his error-ridden game all the poorer.

As of now, Hamish has conceded more goals to the opposition through stuff-ups, brain fades and turnovers than any other defender, including the much-maligned duo of Jacobs and O'Shea. Since rd 1, he is having a stinker of a season.

Time to pour the acid on him. He's fit. Get him into the guts and demand that he gut runs until he drops.

Out - Broadbent, Renouf, Pfeiffer, Schulz (Cassisi lucky hes skipper)

In
Ebert - has to get a chance with another good game, BOG actually
Redden
Sal - see if he can reclaim his Rnd 24 form. Has to be given ago see what happens
Hitchy or Phillips - as much as i hate to say it....

Logan one more rnd in the ressies
