No way they drop Hawkins for the 1st "Home" game of the year. Thats just stupid.

Not as silly as playing the young man if he's a bit leg weary just because of the venue. Hawkins will have plenty of chances to play at Cat Park.

Ablett, Blake Injuries may alter team.
.

Haven't heard about that one. What's he supposed to have done?

I don't know about everyone else, but coming up against the Roos this week, I want to see some changes. Get Byrnes and King out, players we've given opportunities to and they've proven not up to it.
I'd rather lose having played some youngsters like Varcoe, Djidi, Selwood etc than losing with Byrnes kicking more behinds and Kingy not being able to touch the ball above shoulder height (which for a ruckman I would think is fairly high on the priority list!).

The element we are missing in our team at the moment is flair, the star quality that changes momentum and wins matches. Do either Byrnes or King stand out as those sorts of players? No.
Do Varcoe, Djidi and Selwood stand out as those sorts of players... yes!!
So give them a go, simple as that.

i have no idea why people are suggesting to get rid of Byrnes or King they are both valuable players my changes would be.

OUT: Hawkins (rest)
IN: Callan
Bomber really needs to let Callan get a few more games under hhis belt and Hawkins is a great player but give the kid a rest.
:eek::eek::eek:

ROFL LMAO WTF LOL!!!

And you realize Callan is a small defender while Hawkins is a tall forward don't you?

How about this one out of left field - how would Grima go up forward? he seems to be a bit of KPP type and has kicked goals the last few weeks. Would it be worth resting Hawkins and giving him a go?

Otherwise:

OUT: Byrnes, King (Ablett if injured)
IN: Djerkurra, Ottens (Selwood for Ablett if injured)

IN: Ottens Out: Hawkins

Then we can have the quinella, a useless **** in the ruck and a ruckman playing out of the square.

I'll steal Sam Kekovich's catchphrase - You know it makes sense

Can't,he's a Rookie. We could if you're willing to do a Tonya Harding on King or Byrnes before thursday

;)

Shows ya how much I know then. The rookie rules haven't been something I've paid attention to, unfortunately. I'd just rather watch the footy!

For mine:

In: Djerrkura, Ottens
Out: King, Byrnes

With the Roos having two mobile ruckmen in Hale and McIntosh, playing King would be utterly ridiculous as those two would run havoc whenever King's in the ruck. Even if Ottens doesn't come up, maybe throw in West, or *gasp* even Charlie, and let Moons be the 2nd ruckman. Nablett and Hawkins would suffice as tall forwards with Stokes and Djerrkura at their feet, and have Moons and/or Charlie as the 3rd floating tall.

Alot of those who seem to be in the know on these boards think Grima is potentially a long-term FF for the Cats, some have even labelled him the next Alistair Lynch! (if only...)

Do you think that Djerrkura has more chance of playing against the roos then Selwood? I would love to see Djerr get a few games under his belt instead of watching Byrnes turn over ball after ball.

Interesting to note that Otto wasn't mentioned on the injury list so is he therefore right to go??? Hasn't been mentioned in any articles that I've read but if he's right then he'll come back in for King or Blake, probably Blake though. If they decide to rest Hawkins then all 3 ruckmen may play but this is flirting with danger. I would think that Hawkins would stay in as last week certainly wasn't the week for tall forwards. That means Blakey misses out, which is very stiff but that's my thoughts.

Byrnes has done his dash and Hunt was gone a fortnight ago and got a few games under his belt but I think the cats might go for a bit more pace this time around. Tenace can slot in at half back/midfield and Djerka should get to debut against the Kangas swaping with Stokesy, Chappy & Gaz.

Ins: Djerka, Tenace, Otto
Outs: Monty, Hunt, Blake

A bit from todays Addy

Thompson said forwards Gary Ablett and Brad Ottens remained in doubt for the Cats' clash against the Kangaroos at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.

Ablett sent a scare through the Cats' camp when he went down with a corked calf in the second quarter of last Sunday's loss to Hawthorn.

``He hasn't run yet and he probably won't run until maybe Friday,'' Thompson said.

``We've got him doing a lot of work just trying to get rid of the blood and get him moving again. He'd have to be doubtful at this stage.''

Ottens did not travel to Tasmania last week because of a hip injury and will also need to pass a fitness test later in the week.

``He ran yesterday, and he'll probably run again tomorrow and if he pulls up well he'd be a chance, but again, he's not a certainty to play at this stage,'' Thompson said.

They won't want to make too many changes.

Hawkins will be out, needs a rest.

Gablett sounds like he will miss too. They should drop Byrnes but I suspect they wont.

I'd like to see Djerrkura and Tenace come in, although they might bring in Selwood instead. Charlie is no doubt figuring as well.

I'd like to see Grima get a chance after his last few week in the VFL. We could do worse than giving him a go.

It will be an interesting week for selections actually. I think they need to continue with a mobile forward line so if they bring in Ottens for Hawkins I hope they offset that with some genuine pace up forward like Varcoe or Djerrkura. In fact I think it is essential.

Tenace should get a run and if Jnr isnt right Selwood will be pressing as well.
