Sheed was rubbish last week, tried to go Judd at numerous times with a sidestep and burst through players and just completely wrecked the play and shut down momentum. Kicked it out on the full at least 2/3 times aswell. Hutch lucky to stay in after literally picking out Hawks players with disposals.

Would have liked to see Ainus get another shot in the guts or on the wing.

Looking forward to a huge Nic Nat tap to boots for the 1 bounce running goal.

The player ratings graph shows the effectiveness of the player over the 4 quarters using over 200 points of data from Championship Data. See Mitchell's ratings? this has him at a rating of around '2' for the game. His 2 year average is around 14. There is no player on the ground against the Hawks who had a worst game against their own average. 28 possessions, nearly all rubbish. 28 possessions, not to advantage, but to contests, sideways to players under the pump or even turnovers. this smacks of a player who was put under immense pressure and didnt have the time or space to play his usual game.
Much love for Hutch's game, because Tom Mitchell at his best is by far more effective at disposing of the ball than most in the Hawks team. Even if Hutch did shank a few possessions, with a game like this, i would have been very happy if Hutch had 0 possessions.

The issue isn't him having no disposals it's him turning it over to the opposition. He had 18 disposals, 8 direct turnovers and a total efficiency of 22%. That's pretty bad. Almost undoing all of his good work tagging.

Gov's developed his body into the ultimate fat kid in Under 11s who's unusually quick and just sits back taking pack marks all day. Good luck moving that big ass away from the ball. It takes dedication in eating meat pies to reach this level, Sheed could learn a thing or two, pick a shape and dedicate yourself.

IIRC Nelson had a good game in EP's loss to the black ducks, running at about 84% efficiency. Since Sheed was running at some horrible efficiency number (can't be bothered looking it up), I think the decision is a no-brainer.

Good post. Hutch was definitely good without ball in hand. But WITH the ball, I think the issue was that Hutch had one of those games that was a lot worse than a 0 possession game. He butchered the play every time he got near it and actively hurt the team with some of his decision making and execution.

A guy like Jetta was pretty anonymous on the weekend, but he wasn't bad and no-one here is calling for him to be dropped. Hutch had a game where I'd curse every time he did something with the ball, and unfortunately that's what people tend to remember most.

agree, Hutch is like the third worst on that data sheet, primarily for the negative points he would have received for his possessions. His 'pressure acts' and tackling alone might have gotten him 8-10 rating points

Good post - not sure about others but I liked what Hutch did against Mitchell but unless we have a tag role, then he does not have the skill set to play a creative role.

Sheed was at 73% on Sunday which is pretty standard for a mid. He just had some horrible turnovers that stood out.

Nelson was okay against the Swans but not a performance worthy of a recall IMO.

I seem to be in the minority but I thought Sheed had a fairly decent game against the Hawks. He was good at the contest and still had 22 disposals, the issue is that he got caught holding the ball a couple of times and that always stands out

If they line up as has been reported, think Jetta is going to play Masten's role, Nelson brought in to replace Jetta in the backline and with Shue coming in Sheed has had to make way. I could be completely off track but that's how I read it?

Not knowing much about the Saints team USC there anybody playing for them that Hutch will be given a role to tag? If not then in my opinion think Sheed should have stayed in and Hutch go out.

Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because it was his first game but I just saw Bubbas first game and his disposal was pure trash and it made hutch and sheed look like they were Pendlebury and shuey.

Hopefully he’s been working on his disposal since then.

They were genuine shanks though, almost certainly caused by nerves. His ball use is okay.

Getting caught HTB for Dumb Sheed seems the norm. I think it is his footy IQ that is holding him back (oh - and also the fact that he cannot operate on his right side for anything).
