Obviously there is chapman to come back in.. And maybe Harley. and.. bomber did say Hawkins was going to play against the saints at TD.

So what changes would you bring in? Match ups? discuss!

Me..
IN: Chapman
OUT: Hunt

A bit harsh on Hunt, but honestly, i couldn't think of anyone else!

Maybe bring in Hawkins to stretch the undermanned saints back line. 3 big talls down in the forward line would really stretch them.. but who you going to drop?

Egan vs Reiwoldt
Scarlett vs G-train
Baker vs Ablett
... should be a good game.

In: Harley, Chapman
Out: Enright, Selwood

I have been less than impressed with Enright recently, but just wondering was his game today that bad?? Did he muck things up or something? I think I would have Hunt out before him

I am not so sure it is a good idea to include Hawkins. He is not in any sort of form and including him would send a bad message to the rest of the playing group that some players get preferrential treatment.

Both Harley and Chappy should return you'd think. However another week in the magoos would do Harley well.

I guess players like selwood and Varcoe would be the ones looked at by most, however they should be able to hold their spots.

Looking at the team I'd be reluctant to change to much. And really can't find 2 players to drop.

Hunt for Chappy would be the closest i guess.

Varcoe leading the AFL for tackles inside forward 50 and is safe.

Bomber already loves selwood, so i doubt he'd go.

Really to hard..

Match up wise.

Scarlett on Gtrain
Egan on Kosi/Rix
ill take a punt here and i think Mackie might be able to do a job on reiwoldt. He likes to run up the ground, which i think Mackie could do. Would also make reiwoldt accountable because mackie could hurt on the rebound.

However is Roo pushes back deep into the 50 give ego the job.

Ling to tag Dalsanto, who is easily their most damaging midfielder.

Baker on Bartel? would be a big win freeing up Jesus

St Kilda will most likely play negatively. It's the Dome - I hope Hawkins plays and we stretch their defence like nothing else. I hope we are first to the footy, and play long and direct footy, even if they flood. We have the talls to slaughter their key defenders, and the small forwards to tear them to shreds.

Let's play some positive footy. Bring it on.

If Chappy is 100%, then maybe Selwood might have to be given a rest. Hunt was strong and good last night i felt, Varcoe adds life and pressure to the forward line, and in all honesty, who could be dropped from a side that did so well this week? Harley needs to only come in when it's clear there is a spot for him, i know he's the skipper, but Egan is playing with confidence, and Mackie has stepped right up this year to justify his #7 selection.

with the poor old saints having no back line, and especially no height down back, have 2 bring in jumpin jack flash hawkins. harley, prob afford 2 give him a week in the 2s, chapman must come back.
ins
hawkins
chapman

outs
stokes (i love him but someone has 2 go!)
varcoe (great when he has it, just a bit hot and cold)

In : Hawkins Chapman
Out : S Johnson Tenace

Funny stuff

Alright we know this so far:

Chapman "should" be right to go
Bomber said Hawkins "may" play the next TD game
Harley is getting closer to getting a gig

Damn tough to drop anyone. And it would only be a like for like, or a perceived bolstering of certain positions.

Even though they are a little down atm, tThe Saints will take it to us due to the "rivalry" we have got going with them at the moment. Their assets include their forward structure, which is still potent - though down, their midfield (minus Harvey) can still be very powerful. So in those areas we still need to be on top of our game.

Our strengths are going to be three fold. I see Ottens having an absolutely massive one this week. He will dominate against Ackland/Kosi and Rix all over the ground. Our midfield should have it over theirs......and our forwards should dominate over the Saints most deficient area.

In an attacking game plan it would inclusions into the midfield and forward structures. In a defensive one it would be midfield and defence...................well I'm stumped as to how this will pan out but here goes:

Chapman in for Hunt. Though I type that with little confidence. Hunt has played pretty good footy since coming back into the side. But he plays a similar style and position to Rooke - though Rooke does it better and has more upside. He would be unlucky to miss.

I can't see anyone else being dropped............was their any injuries against the Power??? Hawkins may be right to get a game but who else do you drop???? And Harley..........well even if he is Captain, he is just going to have to wait.

i believe our depth this year is counteracting the complacency that has in the past crept into the minds of our lads....i think they realise that no body has a walkup start in the lineup (king, harley for example) and that bomber will drop them if they do become that way.....a difficult decision this week - it will depend solely on the match-ups......

how did cam mooney pull up after the game? definately pulled up short early in the game....could be the decider as to whether hawkins gets a game....chappy to come back in if fit (but for whom?)

Selwood out for a rest, although it is difficult to leave him out when he is playing so well.. Chapman in.

Stokes and Varcoe to stay in... we will need their pace in the forward 50 to keep pressure on the Saints flooders as they try and get the ball out of their defensive 50.

I wouldn't. As much as Hunt has been the whipping boy I thought he was pretty solid yesterday. I was overseas for the previous 3 weeks but by all accounts he was good against Fremantle also.

I agree with you - Enright would be the man I'd drop for Chapman. He simply cannot kick to targets accurately enough. Everyone else is doing enough to retain their spots. Even though Varcoe and Selwood aren't burning they're still contributing, and with Varcoe, Wocjinski and Tenace all in the team suddenly we don't look "one-paced" anymore (although personally I thought that was a myth anyway).

Whilst I may be one of those calling for Enright to be traded at the end of the season due to his inefficiencies, I still think he deserves his place right now for what he does as against what he doesn't. He is very good at mopping up the ball in the back half and right now as long as he gets it in the general vicinity of our corridor players then it is all good.

I know Mackie is getting better at it and so is Tenace plus we have Milburn and Woj doing it well, but fwiw I think Enright is needed for his experience and composure. Maybe they should make him handball each and every time he gets it :)

Yep, good to have you back Partridge.
Just a question, and this is not meant to be inflammatory at all, but knowing your (to a much lesser extent than renegade) dislike for Bomber as coach, how have you seen the last few weeks?
Are you feeling that Bomber is improving in areas lacking over the past couple of seasons, or is our improved performance more to do with things out of his area of influence, e.g. fitness, improving of youngsters etc?
Just wondering if Bomber has gained a little respect from you over the past few weeks?

In : Hawkins Chapman
Out : S Johnson Tenace

Ling on Hayes
Rooke on Dal Santo

steve johnson are you on drugs hes been really good and done nothing wrong to loose hes spot l agree with tenace out

Out: Stokes or Varcoe
IN: Chappy

l really hope varcoe stays he been really good his running down players has been ace the geelong forward line looks better with him in it...stoke between good to he wood be unlucky to miss

I am against Tenace being dropped simply because Bomber always does it to him. He gets 2-4 weeks in the 1's. Plays 2 quarters each game then gets dropped. It is bullshit, how is the kid supposed to develop when that happens?

Tenace is in career best form this year. He racked up 28 possies on the weekend, provided good attack out of the backline and did well in midfeild rotations. His kicking was better than many other players in the team (Corey, Kelly, Enright).

Well said.

It's almost impossible to drop anyone from yday's side, altho we'll have to make room for our best and fairest winner.

As for the omission ... ??? Someone's going to be extremely stiff. Might be Hunt altho he's been super since coming back. Tough to see David Johnson winning a recall any time soon (not that he's in my best 22) ...

People suggesting Enright could go are kidding, right? The guy is quality and our run and dash from defence this year (Enright, Tenace, Mackie) is a major reason for our improvement.

Selwood's hardness and ability around the clearances, despite him only being a first-year player, is pretty crucial.

Stokes has been the surprise packet. Hard at it, great hands, good finisher and a tough match-up. He simply must - and will - stay in.

Hawkins coming in could be valuable just to stretch them, but it's tough to drop anyone on y'day's effort.

Harley's going to have to wait. Despite Riewoldt having a stranglehold over us (and I suspect he will again this Sunday) ... we'll just have to put up with it. I'll back our midfield and forward line to outscore them.

And we all know Matty will do the job on the Wee-Train.
