I just think this is a miracle compared to this time last year. Actually having players like McVeigh, Fletcher, Hille, Welsh, Prismall and Co. out and actually having to stop and think about who would get dropped if they were to come back in.

Having the luxury of making sure our players have the time to recover properly without damaging our teams performance is great.

Just a side note to the topic, in my opinion the side is fine the way it is. If anything was to change, I would say Myers out for Hurley, but I think Hurley should be given at least another weeks rest and likewise Myers another week to prove himself.

I think I'd find it hard to nominate too many BF posters who's opinion I respect less than yours. Certainly not any Essendon supporters. You are astonishingly ignorant

We are a better side without Skipworth clogging a spot up. I'd rather play Houli than Skipworth!

So a soft skilled player is better than a tough skilled player.

God help us.

Id look towards playing Prismall first up against Adelaide, getting him a game in before the bye, meaning he can be as primed as realistically possible for the 2nd half of the season.

He would have to be flying in the VFL to consider him before that, IMO. We'd want him playing out at least 2 full games before playing in the 1's.

Skipworth would be moral to come back through Bendigo.

Houli has an exceptional penetrating kick. Though, the match against St Kilda will be physical. Although, I wouldn't expect Knights to throw Skipworth in without a run in the VFL first.

Prismall said he is right to return.

IN: Skipworth, (Prismall)
OUT: Houli, (Myers)

Jeez we're getting some depth back.
I would think long and hard about bringing Skipworth straight in, but probably would end up doin it for Houli.
Prismall to play 3 quaters next week then full game in vfl, after that straight IN!!
I would also seriously consider Lucas this week for Neagle but............
I cant remember what Depth is??? Could be even worse in 5 weeks time.(we can only hope)

Maybe, but not stunning. Stunning would be 90% efficiency or above
2 Clangers out of 19 touches, that is just about 90% efficiency

I was thinking that we need Hurley back in but he needs another week. Lucas sounded like he did alright but I think Neagle needs all the gametime he can get.

Hurley and Prismall played each played a half -- when it's not blindingly obvious who they would come in for, surely we should wait till they've got a full game, let alone a full game of showing they deserve to push someone out of the side. Especially with Prismall coming off a major injury, and Hurley being young and coming off a soft-tissue injury. I'm surprised they're even being considered.

The only change I can see as likely is Lucas and Neagle swapping back. Lucas was offered a week off, suggesting that he was only expected to be out for a week even if he didn't play in the VFL (let alone kick 4 goals without much help all day). And Neagle certainly wasn't pushing his case to get in the side, other than to try to do better than the out of sorts Lucas.

I suppose Skippy for Houli is a possibility -- IMO Houli really did enough to earn reselection (and his skills will be useful in dismantling St Kilda's defensiveness), though Skippy's pre-hamstring form was enough to earn a straight-to-AFL return upon rehabilitation. So it's a conundrum: the deciding factors will probably be the fact that Skippy's injury was soft tissue, the form of Watson and Hocking (as hard nuts) and Zaka really providing something as a small forward -- I think Skippy's unlucky but will miss out. Although Zaka might be rested.

True -- he had two goal assists. But I think Lucas will be brought back and the path of least resistance is Neagle. He really needs to perform consistently in the VFL and get to AFL fitness -- even though he kicked 2 goals and had 2 GAs on Friday. It could be said that peformance wise Lucas is pretty similar, but unfortunately for Neagle, Lucas is Scott Lucas. Hopefully Neagle will one day have earned the same sort of cred.

that is ridiculous, I'm sorry to say.

You don't bring a kid in; have him perform, and drop him.

Names mean nothing. Once you're out of the team, you have to earn a spot. If there's no spot, you need to be smashing the door down.

Quite simply, Neagle has performed at AFL level this year; Scott Lucas hasn't.

I would expect Neagle to get a minimum 2-3 more weeks, and if that means Lucas has to wait to come back in, so be it. If Neagle keeps up at the required level, Scotty might need to force his way in via another avenue

I think we need Neagle in the team more than we need Lucas anyway. Neagle is supposed to be our future full forward while I wouldn't be too suprised if Lucas left at the end of this year. It'd be nice if we could have Lloyd, Lucas and Neagle in but it didn't work against Port and I don't really see it working this week.

Yeah it wont work this week,
I expect Lucas back at the richmond match though.

On principle I agree with you. I just think that in practice Lucas will be coming back -- his name did matter when it came to selecting him all those weeks after he stunk up various grounds, and I think it will count with bringing him back (whether or not it should). Especially since he was given the one-week-off (AFL & VFL) option. I've never sat in a selection meeting and it's just my opinion, obviously -- but it's the only change I see as likely as occuring, and I gave my reasoning for that. We'll see what happens. Personally I'd rather see Neagle play.
