No - it seems he is happy to make at least a couple of changes..

COACH Dean Bailey has already flagged changes for next Sunday’s clash against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

On the back of Melbourne’s disappointing 44-point loss to Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday, Bailey said he would look at rejigging the side against the Saints, after they defeated top-of-the-table Geelong this round.

In: Junior, Sylvia, Bennell, Strauss

Out: McKenzie, Miller, Rivers, Jetta

- McKenzie needs a spell at Casey, just needs to find a bit of touch.
- Miller is simple, has no talent whatsoever.
- I like Strauss at Jiihad, need as many good boots as possible.
- I don't want to drop Jetta but as a crumbing forward Bennell is better and I can't see who he would beat out for a midfield spot.

Gotta say i'd like to see some changes not only in players but also positioning.

Joel MacDonald is a good defender with average foot skills. Play him as a defensive forward on say Gwilt this week. He does all the hard stuff just lacks the footskills. if he goes out bring in tommy mac. same height and weight, 6 yrs younger and better foot skills. Why isnt he given a chance. If his defence sucks then at least we know.

Tell Miller he has one more week to get nasty. Dont worry about touches, just be a pr*#k!! Do what you did in 03/04, otherwise ur out.

Release grimes to the middle, we all know thats where he belongs. Even if its a half.

Swap jetta for bennell. like jetta and especially his hardness, but u cant reward players for two average weeks.

Play bruce forward of centre ONLY if he must play. I loved the guy, but as many posters have said, seems his best is past him. If he must play, play him where his clangers dont hurt us as much.

Cheney needs a game. Has probably been our most consistent at Casey all yr and deserves a couple of weeks to show his worth. Decent foot skills too. Not quick, but we have Warnock, Rivers and Joel Mac in our defence who arnt quick either.

Just think we need to be smarter and less predictable than we are at the moment. And harded up. I can handle a loss, but young side or not, desperation, heart, and hardness is lacking in this side every second week.

Ins: James Mac, Bennell, Cheney/Mcnamara

Outs: Jetta, Joel mac/Rivers McKenzie

didnt include Sylvia, seems there is talk he is still not over the toe injury.

On Notice: Miller, Morton, Rivers, Bruce, Warnock.

I think 4 changes is about right.

St Kilda's weakness is speed and I think bringing in the following will help:

In: Bennell, Sylvia, Spencer and Bail

Out: Garland (I think his leg/ankle need a rest) Miller (We know why) Jetta
Bartram

Plus Essendon is the next game in the following week. Thus, this week will be a good preparation/test to combat pace.

B: MacDonald Warnock Frawley
HB: Bruce Rivers McKenzie
C: Grimes Moloney Morton
HF: Sylvia Watts Bate
F: Dunn Green Bennell
Ruck: Jamar Scully Davey
Inter: Trengove Jones Spencer Bail
Emer: Cheney Jetta Bartram

He would be a horrible match up against Milne wouldn't he  Were playing against a top two side, Milne is now there No.1 target inside 50 without Riewoldt and argubly the best small forward in the comp, so you want our best small defender to be dropped:confused:

Bail has been injured, in and out of Casey since round 4 and would be short of a gallop. Spencer is to much of a liability against a side like St.Kilda, bailey has persisted with Jamar one out for most of the year i don't think it will change this weekend.

In: Sylvia Bennell
Out: Mckenzie Jetta

Mckenzie seems to have stuggled a bit since coming back into the side, Jetta continues the trend of the revolving door of small forwards.

I rekon bruce forward was good last week, and Joel Mac to the backline frees up Grimes to the midfield. I would like to see some more changes within the 18 as opposed to making wholsesale changes to the team in general.

Bartram isn't our best small defender. He gives two goals to the opposition every week.

Who's our best small defender then? Do you have the stats to back up your claim?

People on this forum need to give Bartram a break. Back in 2006 they were like "BJ PLZ" and now simply because he doesn't set the world on fire....

He's been on of our best tacklers down back this year, puts immense pressure on his player. Owned Jeff Gartlett in the Carlton game.

3 forwards for a HFF, a mid and a defender? Sylvia and McDonald definitely in for Jetta and one of Miller and Dunn. Don't forget we had 29 inside 50's on the weekend, i think we need one of Miller and Dunn in the side as back up for Jamar.

Well McDonald has been declared unfit for another week I beleive so perhaps Miller could remain.

Also - anyone calling for McKenzies head needs to see a doctor. He was fairly quiet by his standards in his first week back from injury but he's almost first picked for me at this point.

Bartram isn't our best small defender. He gives two goals to the opposition every week.

It was mentioned on AFL teams (on Foxtel) the before the Collingwood game Bartram had conceeded only 5 goals in 11 games, the collingwood game he kept Davis to one goal, and probably played his worst game on the weekend conceeding 2-3 goals.

Grimes and Bartram are only true small defenders, but grimes plays across HBF and rebounds very well, whereas Bartram is genuine back pocket. Aside from him i would like to know who is our best small defender?

Bartram is not be the most talented bloke in the side, but does his job well each week and gives the back 6 some good balance. With Milne, Jack Steven and Schinder all in good form it would be stupid to drop Bartram.

Bartram had a very good first season from memory, and then had a couple of seasons in the wilderness. I think since Whelan retired, Bartram has found his true spot on the field. He has been one of our shining lights this season IMO and is one of the first picked each week. Very important we have a small defender who can stop the dangerous small forwards. Betts, Milne, Campbell, Stokes etc are becoming more dangerous each season, so developing Bartram into this role is another crucial step in our development as a side.

there is an article on the dees website about cheney going in for his first match this year, certain starter?

I am glad there are other people noting his efforts to. With Bartram and Joel Mac or Cheney back there should free up Grimey to the midfield.

Look at St.Kildas fwd line, Milne, Steven and Schnider all under 6ft, our backline has been pretty "tall" this year. Plus Cheney has been playing well at Casey.

cheney deserves his spot, my only problem is his apparent lack of accountability, lets hope some good form at casey changes that.

bartram has been fantastic all year, but he does need to consolodate his decision making and kicking, as it has cost us on occasion... his defensive efforts have been top notch

I understand the sentiment, and agree that Grimes would (and maybe one day will) make a great mid-fileder. But I don't think we can "afford" to play him in the guts at the moment, or more, I don't think we can afford to not have his steady head and ball winning abilities down back, at the moment.

Yea robbing peter to pay Paul. Grimes was reliable as ever down back last week and looked just as good in the midfield in the 2nd half. I would like to see him spend more time in the midfield providing our backline can handle his absence.

We aren't going to play finals so why wouldn't we start playing kids where we hope they will be playing in our Premiership side? We should be getting as many games into our young guys as possible, which means dropping Bruce, Miller, Rivers
