Came in as a late replacement for Priddis, did his job, now Priddis is back... so he goes back.

Somewhere I've missed the part where Hutchings was hard done by.
Had a pretty nice game and did about as much as he could have been expected to do as a late call up, plus Duggan in a tough stretch at the moment. That mixed with the size of the Swans midfield and Hutchings ability to battle inside leaves people wanting in form Hutch in the squad over the smaller and out of form Duggan.

They're all fair points, don't even disagree with them tbh, but the match committee has picked who they've picked and it's a damn fine looking team on paper so not too much gripe from me.

Nah Hutchings is getting screwed...**** Duggan...can't kick...bit soft..has 1 good complete play a game
A bit soft?

Mate...

1. Did Hutchings deserve to play WAFL at all after his performances in finals last year?
2. He did well last week and more importantly is one of the most accurate goal kickers in the team.
3. How about dropping the under performers?

He had no preseason, hence starting the year in the WAFL.

Which under performer would be dropped? Apart from Duggan, who's been down but is a big part of the future

Last year, and he was not good..
He wasn't great, and there's a reason he's not near the squad at the moment, but he's not a hopeless footballer like many suggest. Played nine times last year, twice as the sub, kicked four goals but Simmo has utilised him as a defensive forward a fair bit. You know what you're getting with him, namely an excellent WAFL level player and a hard-nut trier who clearly isn't up to AFL level skill wise. The fact he found his way into the side nine (!) whole times last season isn't reason to distrust the MC, especially when he's pretty much next in line to play the defensive forward role behind Cripps and is tearing up at WAFL level.

Granted Friday was a quiet game for Hill, outside of his goal, but he's been very strong and consistent through the first three weeks, and offers far more as an agile goalsneak type pocket than Hutchings would in the forward line.

Dropping Hill for Hutchings is one of the more creative things I've heard this week.

Hill is chronically underrated by many on here.
Hill goes missing every single big game without fail. What did he do in finals last year?

Kicked five goals including three in the QF against the Hawks (one of which was the sealer).

That's entirely not the point.

Someone has to travel to Sydney as a standby in case someone has to pull out at the last minute.

9 times out of ten that bloke won't play, meaning unless his WAFL side plays the next day and he can get back to Perth in time (not the case this week - East Perth's game starts while the Sydney game is in progress), that bloke will not have any footy for the week.

Hutchings has missed a chunk of the pre-season and missed the weekend before last with a hammy. Nelson is a youngster and will benefit from footy at any level at this stage of his career.

Conversely if Lucas misses a week of footy, who cares?

That's really as much as I can do to explain it. Do you want me to show it to the cat? Because the cat's gonna get it.

well I was wrong. Apparently you do have to state the obvious to some.

Yeah whoops I was schooled, guess I'm going to lick my internet wounds and cry salty tears.
Lets hope no-one goes down because I would have preferred Hutch as insurance rather than Lucas but that is just me.
Back to talking to the cat.

I get that people need their whipping boys and all, but how Hill continues to cop shit after the year he had last year I'll never know. Has kicked a goal in 21 of his last 26 (from the start of 2015 til now), and has kicked three or more goals 8 times in that range (as in one third of the games, as in every three games Josh Hill will have a haul of three or more). Averaged 1.8 goals per game last season, third best on the team behind only Kennedy (3.2) and LeCras (1.9).

I'm by no means a Josh Hill fan boy, I could honestly take him or leave him and think we need to address our forward pocket spot pretty soon, but the fact he's still the go to drop for some people just baffles me.

I think everyone would prefer Hutch as insurance, but in the long term it's better that he gets a guaranteed game this week, which he wouldn't do if he travelled.

PS sorry for my exasperated tone before, RL stuff seeping into my posting unfortunately :(

Or as you mentioned he has an interrupted preseason and slightly injured so he rests, good bet he will play for EP but who knows maybe he wont play because he is injured. If he is fit, lets hope it doesn't backfire.

I had a strong dislike for hill because he is a down hill skier but he looks great in a side thats fyling and thats what we are at the moment. Hill had a quiet game last game but he looks more dangerous/hungrier this season and probably playing with more confidence.

Don't lie Fivey, there is no real life when you're a big footy mod, it's just arguments on the internet 24/7
