That's entirely not the point.

Someone has to travel to Sydney as a standby in case someone has to pull out at the last minute.

9 times out of ten that bloke won't play, meaning unless his WAFL side plays the next day and he can get back to Perth in time (not the case this week - East Perth's game starts while the Sydney game is in progress), that bloke will not have any footy for the week.

Hutchings has missed a chunk of the pre-season and missed the weekend before last with a hammy. Nelson is a youngster and will benefit from footy at any level at this stage of his career.

Conversely if Lucas misses a week of footy, who cares?

That's really as much as I can do to explain it. Do you want me to show it to the cat? Because the cat's gonna get it.

We are playing the swans not the cats! Derrrr

Yeah but what else did he do?

Hill does plenty.. he's one of the first to chase back and help out our mids and help lock the ball our forward half. Apart from his x-factor skills and talent.

The Badger would have been a *good inclusion for Sydney at the SCG especially also given the expected weather. I don't know why everyone is so down on Lucas as well. He's just as good as the blokes we are arguing about in here to select or not select.

*note Badger major sponsor

We're right, mate, premiership window is open now tbh
And Duggan, one of the best field kicks in the team and a player who shows the sort of class that only Shuey (and maybe peak Yeo) has isn't a part of that window?

Hutchings should demand a trade at the end of the year. What does he ever do wrong??? Solid tackler, accumulator and FAR better kick than Priddis. He isn't very fast but I'd back him in a sprint over Priddis. Should've dropped Hill or Duggan instead.

Agreed

so apparently karpany is our gun small man. surely masten at 179cm is small enough to be our gun small man.
Paywall so I can't read it, did somebody actually name Karpany, by name, in an article other than "Who is the least impressive performer on your clubs list?"

How is he a gun small man...just how? He's not even consensus best on ground at WAFL Reserves. Any chance you could copy and paste the Karpany section?

Here's a way around stupid news websities 'premium access' bullshit.

1. Load a Google homepage
2. Copy and paste the article link directly into the search box
3. Click search
4. Open search result link and article will be accessible to us commoners

Edit: Oops almost forgot obligatory

it says scroll down to see your clubs best little men.
WEST COAST

Not many small guys on the Eagles’ list. The shortest, Malcolm Karpany (176cm), is yet to play an AFL game. Chris Masten comes in just under the 180cm mark. Premiership hero David Wirrpanda was just 173cm and Phil Matera was 2cm shorter.

You do realise duggan is only averaging 11 disposals at 63 % disposal efficiency.. He has been way off the mark this year. Has potential to be one of our best field kicks but at the moment he's far from that ?

Not sure why people are whinging about Hutchings being dropped. He had 9 disposals last week in a game we won easily. That's rubbish for a mature midfielder. That's 4 less than the "out of form" 19 year old Duggan.

Yeah for sure, he's been down this season. I wouldn't have minded him out and Hutchings staying in, just people saying he's soft, can't kick and isn't part of our premiership window is pretty suspect.

+ he had 6 tackles & 2 goals in only 60% game time....and he's got the runs on the board from last year, especially in big games. he's also lightyears better than Lucas..
Speaking of which, they should have upgraded Adamson from Cavka's spot over Lucas the list clogger..

Lucas is a bit of a spud but ever since he's come on board he has excelled for the royals. He at least deserves to be upgraded. Adamason has only had good games so far this season as well.
