If you read i was just stating that no one whinged about Sheed's form in his 2nd year ? Every player comes on at a different time look at Sheppard etc !
Fair enough, I misread sorry, so many people having a go at Duggan in here it's hard to keep up.

You have Wellers in your Dream Team?

its ultimate footy with the age. 8 teams 25 players each and each player can only be picked once so picking injured gems is the key.

Ah yeah

In the last 4 weeks we have missed wellers line breaking speed from defence.Other than him we don't have really quick guys rebounding from defence. Hopefully cole keeps pressing for selection. I have seen brophey a few times in the last 12 months and he has a nice set of wheels and finds the footy alot. if he can sharpen his disposal and improve his decision making ability, i wouldn't mind him in the side.

McInnes in.

We win.

Inspired match committee decision. Quite a contested animal is Fraser and will suit the SCG. When rucking in tandem with Sinclair at EP he continually outshone big Cal. Tipping him to come out on top

Kennedy would want to play well this game as he has been well down and i can see Fraser holding his spot*.

*I dont actually believe this but a bit of tyre inflation required.

I was wondering about this. As posted I would have gone the pure ruck in Giles over a pinch hitter in McInness. But McInness would have played with and practiced against Sinclair a lot over the past few years, Giles not at all. Maybe McInness and the Eagles believe he has Sinclair's measure? Knows and can exploit Sinclair's weaknesses?

I hope he does.:thumbsu:

Team is looking good. Even better with Lycett next week.

Really running out of excuses for a poor performance.
No doubt Max zero

Really hope they can extinguish some mental demons Saturday. Not necessarily with a W, moreso with fight, discipline & workrate.

Stop being so defensive. People aren't having a go. They are saying he's not playing very well and not contributing a lot to the team atm...which is true. I dont think theres one person on this board that isnt expecting him to be a gun

What demons are you speaking of? Defeated Sydney last time we met and 80% of our players probably haven't played at the SCG.
Surely you jest.

Have a look at our away record since the draw at Metricon.

EDIT: Sydney were without Tippet & Franklin also at home. Counts for nothing on Saturday.

Half of this board thought Sheed was a dud after his first year. Said we should have picked someone else. He came on strong in his second year. Now Duggan hasn't come on as quickly but he is a bit behind for the reasons I mentioned before. Age, size and experience. He will gradually get better though and should provide us with something decent in the near future. I'd rather play him in the first half of the year while we are winning than someone like Hutch who is a mature aged toiler.

Only weakness thus far is that Duggan is a bit weak and doesn't get a lot of the ball. When he has the ball he is sublime by foot and is classy. Far higher upside than using someone like Hutch, but in fairness to everyone on this board he needs to defiantly impact the game more.

I'm not entirely sure why there's controversy in this thread this week?

For what it's worth:

- Hill has straight up been one of our better players this year. The downhill skier tag, I think, was valid a few years back - not anymore. He has been working off ball like a bloody madman this year. I also think he was one of the few who stood tall in the Hawks ****est.

- McInnes for Lycett - particularly on a small ground in potentially wet weather - makes total sense to me.

- Hutch/Dugg debate - I think Hutchings was totally solid on his return last week. But as the eminently sensible FiveStrings has pointed out, he needs game time. Carrying him over as an emergency is medium-term counterproductive. I think Dugg could use a spell in the twos, but given the return of Priddis - I would dare say the MC look at the prospect of Hutch/Priddis/Redden and see an excess of a broadly similar player. Duggan - goalkicking aside - is an elite kick and will add a dimension that Hutch doesn't. I wouldn't have been unhappy if Hutch was retained, but back the MC in on this one.

- Finally, on Duggan - bloke is silk. You invest in players like that. End of story.

We're only 4 games into Duggans second season and he missed half of last year with injury. He's also younger than Sheed at the same point of their careers.

And has less league experience at the same age. Which is why people shouldn't be A. Too harsh on his production; B. Not complain when he is inevitably given a run at WAFL level.

Hill is just one of those players that will cop it until he retires. I have a die hard WCE friend that no shit asks me every week why Hill hasn't been dropped. They wanted him dropped after last years derby when he won the RG medal ffs

I was like that but he has definitely lifted and his improved his work rate.

Only a thought but perhaps Duggan is being a bit timid due to worrying about sustaining another injury to his knee?

Who is swans #1 though? Theyll probably put sinclair against naitanui as he is cleaning blokes up this year and tippett is too $$$$ to risk that? Even bigger advantage than normal this week though swans have some of the smartest extractors in the league to shark it.

You do realise that apart from Adelaide at the end of last season when a win didn't mean much (our position on the ladder couldn't change) that the only other team we have played away from home in recent times is Hawthorn (enough said!) so think it's a bit harsh to be criticizing our away record based on just a few games. I do take your comments on board though:) we will find out where the Eagles stand in the scheme of things after this weekend. For all that however I do expect a loss (hope I'm wrong) but the main thing as long as they are competitive and turn up to play!

The eagles list mcinnis at 197cm and 96kg, surely this isnt right. Fmac looks to be over 100kgs. If he is 96kgs he will be giving up a whopping 12kgs to tippet.
