Unfortunately I think we'll go LWLW

Leaving us 5-3, hopefully with a % of 120 or thereabouts

Then we play Port at AO - need to win that to keep a buffer of two games imo. Gold Coast at home won't be easy.

Exciting times ahead. Possible heart seizures and the like.

Super hard start to the season but I think 5-3 seems about right after 8 rounds. Lets hope we pick up a cheeky win away against a potential top 4 at some point in the year for the confidence.

Yes he has some brain fades with his decision making. Disposal is good just picks the wrong target or is too slow at times, but gee I enjoy the kid tough as nails.

Granted Wellingham is automatic, but competition for spots is great and I thought Butler was good tonight so he may be the victim of senior bodies against the Swans.

I've watched him off the ball in the derby as well as tonight also and can attest to the fact that he is a bit of a niggler. I like that in him and his got courage as well but can look slow and decision making isn't as good as it should be. I'll back him in more and more in the future when he assures me with more confidence. Really is the logical replacement for Wellingham but, longer term he is is the Butler of the back six back I think once he gains a bit more composure with disposal which was a likeable trait in his game when we drafted him.

Can already argue his got more mongrel in him than Butler.

SCG is a small ground where our web should actually work well. So its not all doom and gloom.

Agree with all your points, I think for young guys who are "slower" initially, playing more games helps to get them up to speed, if they are no good they will be found after time. Hopefully not the case for Nelson.

Yeah. I think if we can put enough pressure on their mids we should come out on top. Their midfield is performing better than ours and I think their supply might hurts us. Happy to be surprised.

I actually think we might be better off keeping Hutch in the team over dug (i still love you!) this week as others have mentioned. Not sure Duggo is physically built to take on Sydney yet.

Gold Coast are not that good .....they have had an easy draw

I think the side is settling nicely

Less changes week to week is a good thing

Duggan looked more composed last night, he is very raw and young still so is Nelson

They need time. I'm happy considering our draw ...even if we are 5-3 going forward to draw will open up

We will have played last years top teams, freo, Hawks, swans, rich early

Beating Freo in Perth is not an easy draw dave123

I think you're underestimating them.

Maybe ......they will be tough to beat at Metricon but maybe because I hate them I contracted them

Hated expansion teams coming in .lol

If Ablett gets injured they are average

Flying to Sydney for this game - really excited to see the boys. Feeling a little worried as I went to the Hawthorn game at the mcg only to leave very sad. I'm a believer - go boys go!

When did Slyce happen? I thoroughly, thoroughly approve.
I think you'd be able to find it all over the board from a few years ago, I've just texted it so much that my phone just does the rest

No one thinks Giles will play?

Guy would stand up well body v body with big Kurt Tippett.
Absolutely, would say he is the logical replacement. Experienced guy who will play a specific role. McGovern in the ruck talk is silly, he probably cant anyway with his shoulder. McIness I'm not sure how he would stand up in his first game for the season in a pressure situation.

If Giles or McInnes come in and play okay against Sinclair, surely that would be the last we hear anyone lament the Sinclair-Jetta trade.
I think the main reason i still lament that trade is that we had sydney over a barrell and we didnt dry f#%^ them.

I think we'll be dicing with Karma if we dont bring in a second ruckman (assuming Lycett gets done) - Freo and Tiges play one ruck, ruck goes down, Freo and Tiges get monstered at the centre/ stoppages.

In: Giles, Priddis, Wellingham
Out: Lycett (susp), Hutchings (Omitted), Nelson (Omitted)

Sinclair will have a bit of inside knowledge in regards to stoppage setups, and any weakness Gov or McInnes may have whilst rucking, whereas albeit limited, he won't know what work we've done with Giles.. Will be an important game to get ruck superiority.

Hutchings played really well, and would be hard done by to get dropped.. Though he plays a very similar role to Priddis which isn't a bad thing.. but you cannot have Priddis and Hutchings in the same team and if you had to choose one, sadly for Hutchings you'd have to go the Brownlow medalist.

Nelson is going to be a gun, though he has looked sloppy at times whilst under pressure, and fumbled the ball a few times around his ankles. Love the way he goes about it though, and has a good football head, though Sydney will look to punish you if you give them that opportunity. Would also be nice to get Wellingham back into our defensive structure if we do employ the web, seeing as him and Masten connected up well last year.

I think that's the logical choice anyway.

That's a good way to get splinters.

I thought the same at the time. But it was compensated by our trading picks later in the draft, which allowed us to draft Cole when we did. So looks like it was the right move for everyone. Playing nice works well too.

As long as we have them over a barrel come gameday too...

Any chance Slyce (same as bombard I like this) gets off based on it being insufficient force - vickerys pathetic head throw might help that conclusion. Probably deserves a week for stupidity but hope he might get a slap on the back wrist

No way giles comes in, it'll be McInnes

Provided swellingham gets through today unscathed he'll come in same as masten did

Think priddis will be good to go

This whole jetta Sinclair debate is stupid .
Lycett is better than Sinclair . Sinclair is then expendable .
So a rookie upgrade (sinkers ) who has played a dozen good afl games and would probably be in the wafl now lycett if fit - for a best 22 mid ?

Our best 22 has improved 2 fold in that trade

Lycett ( younger , better ruck , better forward ) >>>>>>>>>>> Sinclair

Jetta >>>>>>>>>>>>>rosa , selwood
