Crouch for Porps - give him the vest - a chance to add run later in proceedings
CEY for Shaw - honestly couldnt do any worse
Lyons for Crouch - contested ball winner and deserves a full game

*possibly Laird for Jaensch but only if 100% right to go.

I'm fairly optimistic this week against Sydney. It's round 2! it's not the end of the season. I know we have been under performing but hey we can turn things around this week.

I find it disappointing and sad about the way we have begun this year. :(

I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like following a team like the Bulldogs for example who have not appeared in a grand final in decades.

All summer I was optimistic and really liked our chances of starting the season off with a bang, but the bubble while it may not burst yet, there is some terribly signs at West Lakes.

The beautiful view I got of the Showdown was amazing, I got to see how the Power players run into space and provide options for their team mates that had possession. Our players were lazy, made terrible decisions and lacked confidence.

I had suggested last week that we need some good news stories at our Club because for mine, its just been one bad news story after another.

At the moment Sydney aren't in good form , the crows I think can win at our first ever home game at AO infront of a passionaite crowd.

I know what you mean but we need meaningful, long term redirection..
Sugar coated good news stories don't mean a thing right now and can at times stroke some people's ego and keep them thinking they're doing a good job..
Sometimes you gotta reach lower lows for change to actually happen when you have stubborn people who can't be removed any other way..

But has Jaensch actually affected the game? Not with these cheap sideways and backwards kicks that gets you stats
In short yes, he is 1 of the few players coming out of defence actually trying to setup the play.

Sure he made 2 big blunders against Port, but heck at least he is trying & improved his defensive output ... unlike more than half the team!

No idea how they would know, but FiveAA reporting this morning that Adelaide will make "up to" five changes for this week's match. Interesting...
5AA now on the AFC selection panel?

There will be changes (rightly so), but I doubt there will be 5.

Cant believe im saying this but Jaensch has been one of our best players the last two weeks... He's racking up the touches and should be used forward or as a mid.

I'm historically a Jaensch basher. But he has been defensively sound and playing a good attacking game from the back line. If he gets dropped we get no run out of defense.

Why would we move him out of defense when he's playing so well?

He and Mackay may have been problems last year, but they're both doing much better this year and based on form need to stay in.

Still a few things to iron out but he has been good..
You'd have to be an obsessed hater of him to say otherwise..
He said in the off season that he felt he finally got his body right or more where he wants it this year, and he's hoping to really make a go of it..

I had to isolate this bit Grotto to make sure I got it to show. You are one observant hombre and I have been waiting for so long for this sort of game style to to become a feature of Crows play. Either the Crows are having this football fundamental suppressed by coaching, or are just lazy in working, running-off, providing clear options or presenting. Why oh why!

I would like some leg speed so if there is anyone that could be brought in that has some of that...

No no, just bring is some more plodders, you don't need leg speed when you push half your team into contests against 1 opponent, if you're not going to play footy correctly, why bother having the pace to play it correctly.

Brent Reilly for PM.

I still don't see what dropping Shaun McKernan achieves right now. Do we want to see if he can play or not?

The next time McKernan gets dropped should be the last time. Now if that's what you're arguing - fine. But otherwise he's just on the same merry- go-round he's been on for the last four years.

Came into this thread to post exactly this about McKernan. If we drop him ahead of Pods (and I think we will), then Sando really has lost me.

"Inexperienced key forward playing ahead of a midfield that can't hit the side of a barn has quiet day" shocker.

I would go with
In: M Crouch, Jenkins, Cameron, (CEY)
Out: B Crouch, Pods, Porps, (Shaw?)

Shaw goes out only if injured. If fit, he plays under instructions that when he gets the ball he kicks it as far as those tissue paper hamstrings will let him. At least then if he turns it over it's not immediately a shot at goal. I actually think defensively he is very good - as someone else mentioned maybe on another thread the turning point of Saturday's game was when he went off injured and Butcher got a hold of Reilly.
