Preview Changes vs Swans

Except he's no good at football. Besides that, perfect sense, yes.
If, and thats a huge IF he plays similar fashion to his SANFL displays he would make a really good sub. Actually has looked like a footballer.

Happy with the changes. Both sides will struggle to kick a winning score but I feel weve injected the right mix of pace and inside strength to win the game. Our forward line still has a fair few options and now we have a bit of unpredictability

I wonder how long it will take for posters to realise that you can't play with 22 midfielders every week and that Lyons coming in this week would have been utterly pointless, as he offers zero tackling pressure as a half forward. Pets coming in makes perfect sense.
Yeah this isn't about Lyons. Or Petrenko.

My frustration with these selections is I see absolutely no vision from the club.

People mock Vader's tier list but the thing is he's attempting an impossible task. There is no way you could establish some kind of logical order from the complete randomness of our selections.

Lewis Johnston has a shocker first up preseason game against Port. He then plays in the magoos for the rest of preseason. In the final week, he kicks a bag. This apparently launches him past JJ who played decently for the firsts the whole way through. Then despite being our second highest goal kicker, LJ is dropped 2 weeks later - for JJ.

Martin has a quiet preseason until the second quarter against GWS. He kicks three good goals against GWS. All of a sudden he's apparently our form player and is promoted from apparent depth player to round 1 starting 18. He has a quiet game and is immediately dropped.

Petrenko has a shit preseason, does nothing in SANFL trials but as is always the case with Petrenko, after a few weeks out of the spotlight, people forget he's Petrenko.

What's the plan? How would any of our rank 15-30 players know where they stand when obviously the club doesn't?

I think if you tried to chart our attempts at selection and team building, you would literally end up going around in circles.

it will all amount to another big steaming pile 'o' dog shite if we haven't done anything to address the fundamental skills during the week...

go crows!

We've dropped two tall forwards and only 1 replacement, we're playing one of the better defensive teams. A team we've had issues scoring against.

I can sense another flogging.
Weve dropped 1........

No way I'd select Petrenko.

I know we're going small, but if a tall goes down we haven't got much left.

Carl is right, Shaw a liability with his skills in defence. Instead of Petrenko I would've kept Shaw in as the 3rd tall up forward…looked good in his cameo there previously. But i guess Petrenko looked great in his defensive cameo once…never seen there again.

JJ is in for smack. It would appear Petrenko is in for Johnston.

At last, we ******* get the selections right! Still not overly happy that Pods is still in but with LJ getting subbed, the writing was on the wall there if Pods is still playing the way he is when Walker returns, he could be in trouble. Has Porps played his last game for the Crows? One would think probably not but I just don't see why he should return to the side.
If Pods went as well, leaving us with one tall forward, who would have replaced him exactly?

Probably would've kept LJ over him but, as I said, because he was subbed off it always looked like he would get dropped meaning that Pods stays.

The only way i can see us kicking a winning score is if Danger plays predominantly in forward 50, with only occasional bursts on ball.

Glad to see M Crouch. As has been said, our ability inside the contest is vastly overrated as the incumbents are underperforming badly. I'd get Lyons in soon as well.
Sydney have an unfit Buddy and not much else... they haven't exactly been on a scoring rampage either in the first two weeks. I think they might even have less goals than us so far this season?

At least Pods puts in on chases and can apply some sort of forward pressure. He is gonna play until Tex is back.

We need more physicality in the forward line so I like the Pets selection
More physicality in the forward line... like Pets gave us last season

Absolutely.

Haven't seen little crouch play yet so looking forward to seeing how he goes.

Anyone think we're a good chance of winning? I'm hopeful but not confident. Just read the match preview on AFL website and they've got us by 15 points? Who writes these things?

What's wrong with that? Have you seen Sydney play this year, and the outs they have also? Given it's our home game, it's not really a stretch to tip us.

I would have tried Shaw as a forward. Tall, quick, can mark and has defensive nous as well. Just handball to Smith or Grigg when going for goal.

At least the ins are long-term prospects. Can't be too unhappy about that. Should've stuck with Johnston though.

What's the ins and outs in the coaches box? **** all accountability in there.
You can't exactly chop and changes assistant coaches from week to week like players... not sure what your point is here?

Given Sydney have lost Reid and seem like they will run with the two tall forwards, I wonder if we will see Rutten having a run up forward. Might suit him more given he is not fully fit. Just a thought.

If any team can play Sydney back into form...

Boy have we stunk against them the last couple of times. Goals over the back... forcing us into errors... lots of possessions but can't score... these are the three things I DON'T want to see this week.

Who plays on Franklin?
