I've not been overly impressed with Rotham's defensive work this year, and dunno how much he's helped us with defensive rebound lately. He's definitely worked hard to rack up a ton of uncontested marks & has used it tidily.

Witherden deserves a spot back and I dunno if he's lacking anything Rotham has got right now.

Foley clearly above Nelson. Duggan preferred through the middle over Ledwards, fair enough.

Liking the changes. Hopefully JJ has one of his better games and stays in when Ryan comes back.

I am thinking Vardy came in as we thought Sinclair was going to play.
Bit of ducks and drakes me thinks, wouldn't be surprised to see a late change and Vardy replaced by Rotham or Petrol.

Only for Swans to swing a later change and bring in Sinclair

I'm very interested to see Witherden and Hurn in the team together for the first time. I've been waiting for this.

One of our backs needed to make way and I while Tommy Cole hasn't been setting the world on fire I guess he has more credits in the bank than Rotham, who I think is guilty of perhaps being just a bit too vanilla this year. A lineball decision though.

I'd prefer Williams over Vardy. But happy to have an extra tall in as I am not a fan of Oscar in the ruck.

Foley and Jones are good ins. I wouldn't have minded Edwards getting another game but I'm not sure who I'd leave out.

I'm not convinced on Langdon and would have retained Petruccelle. But I still hope Zac takes his chance.

So we drop Rotham, who's been pretty solid, and keep Cole who needs a kick in the pants to regain his 2018 form where he looked a long term solid player.

We bring in Witherden. Fair enough. He was looking good pre injury and did well in the return via the WAFL.

Langdon was actually a bit unlucky to have been dropped before Cripps. He runs a lot, can't kick very far but puts himself in the play and with Jones back, is an ok for balance. Would be happier with Petrucelle over Cripps but can't have it all.

Happy with Jones for Ryan. Best available of the type.
Happy with Foley. Was unlucky to be dropped.

Vardy. 50% game time as a static ruck who gets beaten 4 out of 5 contests and warms the bench the rest of the time. Oh well, we start with a 21 man team. He's not strong enough or ruck skilled enough to go with Hickey (or Sinclair if a late in) and not needed if Sinclair doesn't play.

LEdwards has taken the bullet for the dire midfield performance last week. Young guy playing his third game was always going to be a bit up and down. Would actually have liked to keep him.

IMO think Barrass is the doubtful which then means Oscar goes into the backline so Vardy will then be needed to assist in the ruck. Thats my reading of things anyway.

Rotham has been playing fairly average for a while. His ball use and movement is too conservative, especially when there are options. Lot of competition for HBF in our team.
