So, now that the SANFL is done, my guess

OUT: Brown, Martin, Mackay (inj)

IN: McKernan, Henderson, Grigg

So who plays the back pocket role instead of Brown?

Why is it that Brown is actually getting dropped? Because Thomas kicked 2 of his 4 goals on Otten and 1 on Smith or that Ballantyne kicked one goal? Doesnt he get any credit for holding Milne the week before or his performance over the course of the season?

If it is because you think hes had two bad games, why isnt Reilly an out?

Was at the game (came over from Melbourne).... Dear me so much we need to rectify.

Mackay was embarrassing. Has now replaced Bernie as the softest player on our list.

Brown and Kerridge both found out how tough AFL is and that you cant flirt with form.

Somehow, we must find a way to get Stiffy, Hendo, Crouch into the team. Need some spark players.

How did they flirt with firm?

Bloody hell, we were playing one if the best strategist coaches in the AFL who plays a very demanding style of pressure football. I doubt Brown or Kerridge would have experienced anything like that before.

Now they have, their test is to improve next time. That's why it's important to play young payers in key games, so they can gain valuable experiences.

Crouch had another poor game today, I'd be astonished if he was in the thinking this week. He vanished in the last quarter as North did to Wests what we did to the Kangas
So you are calling Crouch poor on the fact he was Wests leading possession winner and North ran over West? Righto, how many senior players have you called to be dropped over the year who went missing as we were run over?

I had Grigg playing back there in my mind, since I recall when he was drafted everyone talking about him using his left boot from half back, but I'm not sure.

Brown is getting dropped because he was iffy against the Saints, beaten against the Kangaroos, and dead set flogged against the Dockers. He needs a spell.

Reilly isn't an out because he played ok. Fairly obvious that one, he was quiet in the first quarter but his decision making is a big part of why we were still in it at 3/4 time. Being the forum whipping boy now that Douglas is once again leading our B&F is typically blinding people to his actual form and contributions. Dangerfield has been our most detrimental user of the ball by quite a ways lately, but that seems to slip through the cracks.

Apart from his Q4 vanishing act, what's going on with him? Still carrying an injury? (I haven't been following him).

Except Crouch was poor. Some people need to accept that their preseason Rising Star favourite is not having as much of an impact on the side in his first season as they were hoping.

Really not sure. Not winning enough of the ball and not doing enough with it when he does, don't know if it's injury, fitness or confidence, but he's not in AFL form right now.

Why, did you go?

Grigg has played midfield all year so bringing him in to play the small back pocket role is a good call:thumbsu:

Brown wasnt iffy against the Saints. He was beaten by the Kangaroos if you ignore 3 of Thomas's goals were on different opponents and he held Thomas after half time. He had a hard battle against Ballantyne but conceded one goal. Yep lets shoot him.

Comparing Reilly and Dangerfield, wow.

No, but I know someone who did, and he asked me to make sure the Crows pick Crouch this weekend so he doesn't stink it up for Westies against the Redlegs.
Was that after you quoted his stats and adjudicated he was poor? Because you didnt mention this inside info then.

Where did Rory Laird play before being selected? Because he's playing small defender right now.

Yes, comparing Reilly and Dangerfield. Utter refusal to even consider it is pretty much exactly what I was talking about. Dangerfield has been an extra special kind of terrible with his kicking this season.

Ballantyne gave him an almighty hiding, a few lucky bounces is the only reason it was 1 goal instead of 4.

From the SANFL thread:
Wright was good today. Disposal a little off at times (got smothered from a mark and missed a couple of short passes) but his clearance work was excellent and he lifted when the game was on the line. If Sando makes more than the bare minimum changes this week then he should come back in. 15 kicks, 10 handballs, 9 clearances, 3 tackles.

Crouch was okay, tidy disposals but didn't really influence the game all that much. Equal most possessions for West with 20 (9 kicks, 11 handballs) and 4 clearances. Regardless, he should definitely be in the Crows team next week.

Mate, both of them had the intensity of a pillow yesterday. I specifically watched a few efforts from both of them and there were two specific occasions they could have made an impact or effected a contest and they didn't. I wouldn't use the word 'squib' but they came close to it.

I dont care if they are 1st game players of 200 game players,if i see weak soft efforts I call it out. By the way, LOVED Lairds game, he was crisp, clean and hard.

Now, getting back to it, who is this Grigg and can he win us a clearance? Can anyone tell me if Hendo/Nutter/Stiffy/Tambling would be worth bringing in? We are playing Sydney so need tough contested players.

Didn't Reilly have ~3 touches until half time?

And 1 mark for the entire game?

So his decision making was part of why we were still in it, in the third...

He was ineffectual yesterday.

Brown stays, he's going fine, and we have a bye in a fortnight.

Because he didn't get the ball that meant he made fewer decision making errors

Well it's a change from every other comment about Otten in this board, which say he's good defensively but provides no offensive run...

He's a tall midfielder playing loose down back, his defensive responsibilities amount to 3rd man up

Its only when we try to make accountable that he seems lost, and provides nothing either way

Tim for Poplyzia to go back to Westies :( ........just needs to regain confidence

Wright has to com back in for Lyons .....who has done well but not well enough IMO to hold Wright out

Any Westies supporters have a view on Adam Hartlett .......was really talented and recruited to Carlton but just couldn't get on the park with those dreaded Hartlett Hamstrings

Is he worth a Rookie listing?

And this us the attitude that as seen us as a club achieve bugger all fir the past 15 years.

Understanding player development takes time is about accepting so e players form will be up and down over a season or two and not demanding they get dropped after one bad game.

No. Ill disciplined and injury prone
Joel Tippett is the one. But that aint gonna happen.
Maybe Brad Mangan as well as a rookie. Maybe a touch undersized as a KPD but very good lock down and in the air. Good disposal too
