It is pathetic, sadly, I don't think many would be surprised.

This'll probably be another game lost as selection.

******* unbelievable - we don't pick a team based on form, merit or potential; which should be the only factors.

Meh.
King you aren't a selector so shut up

And the number of times posters have pointed out selection errors before the game and been vindicated?

Would be close to 50:50. My point - there's reasoning behind selection - try to see that reasoning rather than yelling ****ING CLUELESS and treating the panel with contempt

Our 1st quarter vs North Melbourne saw the younger players knocked about a fair bit.

This is complete crap.

Our younger players, specifically Kerridge and Lyons, were instrumental, vital, in the North Melbourne win.

Last week, it wasn't the kids that less us down - it was the senior players; Mackay, VB, Reilly, Porps. Lyon was one of our better players.

Absolute joke of a decision to drop him, while Mackay and Porps remain in the side.

And our treatment of Martin is a disgrace. I hope he leaves for another Club at the end of the year - we haven't destroyed his career; because we haven't even given him the chance to have one.

Yeah I like him as a player, but with Crouch coming back you can't have them all. His form hasn't been demanding permanent selection, and you can't just gift games to players. Very surprised the Porpoise survived, but I guess he'll be our sub, AGAIN...

Not surprised to see Brown out with a slight niggle, has looked tired in recent weeks. Mckernan and Hendo are good ins, great to see Hendo back.

When has Lyons been gifted a game?

When he was BoG something like 13 times in the SANFL last year?

BOG for the first few games this year?

Coming in and actually performing well, better than many senior players, when given the chance?

He hasn't been gifted anything - unlike the guys who are being kept in the side in front of him.

Yes, I'm sure playing Lyons over Porps this week will lead to a premiership next season, at the short term expense of missing finals this year while playing the youngsters. That's your point yeah?

This argument falls apart when the younger players output is already exceeding the senior players.

Ok what's the reasoning for dropping one of our better clearance players against Sydney?

How am I saying that? I'm not saying agree with every change, I just think the panel deserves a bit of respect rather than idiots taking cheap shots at them and declaring a players career at Adelaide is over just because he's been dropped for one week. The panel put a lot more effort into their thought processes than part time forum posters who instantly blow up when they see something they don't like. Instead of carrying on about something you can't change, maybe try and look at why the panel has gone down the path it has and accept it. I couldn't count the amount of times this board has cracked the shits about changes only to have egg on their face after the game.
Well you and others can take cheap shots at people like me who blow up at selections like this. But here's the thing. We have been an average team for a very, very long time. A supposedly powerful club that has not, since 1998 , played in a grand final. That puts us with freo and the bulldogs ( discounting GC and GWS). We have 4 x losing prelim finals to show for 14 years. You happy with that? And guess what ... We ain't any closer in year 15 either .

I see a number of players who keep being selected that won't change that record. When I see a kid who might be a part of changing it but can't get past some that won't ... I blow up.

I blow up because I'm tired of looking at the same names every Thursday and knowing we actually have no hope of playing in a GF let alone winning a flag.

Is the basic premise here that Lyons, Mackay and Porplyzia are interchangeable?
Structures are fluid. Players are flexible enough now for changes not to be an exact like for like.

If Porps/Mackay plus our other emergencies get gastro overnight and Lyons comes in we won't forfeit.

So you are really angry at Rendell, Ogilvy and Nobel?
I'm angry at the football club as a whole. Responsibility lies with everyone. However this thread is about selection. We persist with players we know won't bring success and stifle those who might. We don't know what Lyons will ultimately bring to the table... But we sure as hell know what McKay will

I also like it how we shouldn't gift Lyons a game, yet he's more deserving of a game than Crouch, who we should.

Gifting games is crap anyway - a hangover from the Craig era that people need to get over. Lyons and Crouch, neither are being gifted games - Lyons is being deservedly played, and Crouch is being invested in.

I can't imagine Lyons playing anywhere but the middle personally.

Its one thing to have to move players around due to forced changes its another thing to pick a team that doesn't fit your ideal structure.

Ask the panel. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, could be a variety of reasons. Anything we say is pure speculation. FWIW, I don't think Lyons should've been omitted but I don't think it's a case of "Lyons is shit and is not apart of our future so lets drop him" like you'd lead us to believe. I do think though its only a matter of time before Mackay & Porps are dropped but I also appreciate what they bring to the side and why they deserve a few chances - Porps especially who I thought was pretty good in patches last week. Reckon he'll step it up again this weekend.

He's already spent a heap of time across half forward

Mackay has played defence, wing and half forward

Pretty disappointed in dropping a fit player and keeping a half fit one in the side. There are times when you turn a blind eye to that ( if it is Danger for instance that is half fit) but not Mackay.

Hope Hendo proves me wrong because I just don't see what is so special about him as a footballer, he does have X factor but he has rarely shown it so far.

I also hope Smack jumps the fence, storms up into the stands and punches Tippett. If he does I will pay any fine he cops from the AFL and start a "Toast" thread for him

Now you are making things up. I never implied the reason he was dropped because "the club thinks Lyons is shit and not part of our future"
