Wasn't so much the attention he was getting, but the delivery. Our mids couldn't win a clearance to save themselves and their delivery forward was lacking.

But it's easy as pie to be a small forward.

Neade was everywhere in that first quarter though - lots of touches up around HFF and a few on the wing.

Lose to the bottom team after a season that could be described as no less than a disaster, make one change.

Gold passes are officially back in vogue.

Who comes in then??

I'm happy with what appears to be the side to face Sydney. We can't afford to drop name players against them. These boys have to turn this around themselves I feel their up to the challenge and time they proved it.

to replace with players in the ressies that lost to the near bottom team in the sanfl? i dont think there is too much that could be done on the selection table, apart from what was done. Unless we can bring in polec that is?

Sadly I don't see anyone from the SANFL side screaming out pick me.......

Which of Young, Stewart, Gray and Neade should we try again?

You've lost me here , what do you mean " we can't afford to drop name players " ? , I think policies like that may have got us into our current predicament .

On talent that is the best side we have, who do we bring in from the SANFL side, who has banged the door down to get a spot? I struggle to think anyone has that demands a game of Hartlett, Jonas, whoever else you wat to throw up to go out of the side.

To leave Afl players in that surrendered to bottom placed laughing stock Carlton , and now face Sydney over there is madness !

its not always that clear cut though. Our senior players are down, we are experimenting with the 16-22nd players. havent found the right mix yet but you cant just give up after a bad loss. the wheel turns, maybe it will click...

kenny always harps on about how a team is never 1 man away from being a great team. while i do agree that your never one great player away, i think it is more relevant for the bottom end of the team. If you have 18 blokes that are playing like champs, then a few that keep getting it and kicking it to opposition, or giving away free kicks etc... it wears the rest for the team down real quick. Guys like sam gray, aaron young and kane mitchell are these guys im talking about. we lose a guy like polec, and he gets replaced with a kane mitchell. Its not the one man you lose, its the difference between that man and the one you replace him with. right now, our gap is too large.

And replace them with SANFL players who lost to the near bottom side in the Crows reserves last weekend as well?

Both sides lost to crappy sides, it happens. Maybe Jonas out for Paul Stewart I could see but not much else

If Lobbe doesn't have an impact this week he never will.

im trying to be positive, but this is one guy i just struggle with. i think last year was him playing at his peak. he needs to play at his peak every week of year for him to be effective, otherwise he becomes a huge liability. I dont ree ryder as the answer, he is an awseome forward / back up ruck. Im losing a bit of faith in redden, he will be 26 next year. we NEED a dominant ruckman like the top teams have

You would have thought O'Shea may have been looked at as a possible replacement for Jonas, but he had an absolute Barry Crocker against the tingle's magoos and couldn't have been selected on that form, so one change, ie Ryder for Mitchell is probably about all the selectors could do.

Ryder is a fantastic solo ruckman that can drift forward and kick goals. I agree with the doubts about Lobbe and Redden though. Lobbe should excel this week with ruck support on a small ground where he can contest lots of stoppages. If he again proves to be nothing more than a statue I will be pleading for Hinkley to send him back to the SANFL.

That would be the same delivery the tall forwards receive as well, right?

But it's easy as pie to be a big forward.

what will they learn playing the might of West Adelaide or whoever the Maggies play this week? how will you learn at AFL level by getting dropped?

Maybe we should look at things differently ? , instead of " knocking the door down in the Sanfl " , lets ask who's playing well enough in our Afl side to not get dropped ?.
