Are you red red ready to ruuuumnle!
C'mon demons.

meh, while I agree May has been worse than TMac and hes probably the one who should have made way im actually fine with it if it means Turner is going to play in defence. For far too long we have ****ed younger guys around being in and out of the side. Time for older guys to make way.

nek minnit, Turner plays forward.

I was initially surprised Tmac was dropped. But can see why they’d go this way. I’d say Goodwin has an eye on the future and Disco has looked very good down back. Tmac was always backup this year and has surpassed everyone’s expectations. As good a year as he’d had I wouldn’t pick him before May.
It's not a huge deal, but a few minor things bother me though - TMac has (arguably) been better and more reliable than May. Lever brought back quickly from injury when we've made that mistake countless times before. Changing the backline structure somewhat where IMO Lever and Turner are both the same type (interceptors), when we usually play one. We've seen in the past that can sometimes lead to confusion in defence.

I really like Disco, so glad he's still in, and perhaps that structure will pay off today in a match-up sense, so I guess my main gripe is really defaulting back to selection by name rather than form.

I still reckon at his age Tmac is probably awfully close to needing a rest anyway. His age and foot/leg injury history are both long.

So this approach has a bet each way. If there’s a cloud over the fitness of a tall who needs to withdraw then Tmac plays. If not, Tmac gets his rest in against a team with a short forward line.

May is a year older than TMac... :eyes:

Sure, but May has missed here and there already this season. And May probably only does 2km of movement in a game anyway 😜
Well yeah, but May has also carried plantar fasciitis this year, while TMac hasn't missed at all with injury. I'm just skeptical of that part of selection a tiny bit.

Transparency, obvious logical calls and selection integrity haven’t been strong suits of Goodwin’s regime.

I’m sure there’s reasoning behind the Tmac call, it may just be nonsensical to everyone except those making the decisions.
