Stop Rhyce Shaw.. :D

Now I've heard it all. Let him have it as much as he wants... more chance of a turnover. ;)

Have you actually watched Sydney play at all this season? His kicking has been good and much improved. He has been very damaging for them and sets up a large majority of their plays.

Yeah I've been to most of the Swans home matches, and he's been a surprisingly good pick up for them... shut him down, and we'll reduce their inside 50's significantly.

Barry Hall Retirement

Special farewell to Barry Hall at our game on Saturday. Hope this doesn't give them too much of a boost!

Re: who is going to sydney?

Yeah, me and 3 mates are heading up for the match. Heading up Friday morning, should be at a pub by midday hit the Cross that night then get some rest for Saturday's match.

We are sitting in Bay 12 I think, never been to the SCG before so I don't have a clue what part of the ground it's in. Look for 4 blokes cheering for Essendon quite loudly and that will most likely be me.

God I hope we win.

In: McVeigh, Watson

Out: Monfries, Skipworth

Mcveigh to come in and take Monfries' spot in the forwardline. Gus has a very unique role in our team so we cant expect the same lead up marking performance but Spike should be able to get us at least a couple of goals down there. Skipworth the one to make way mostly due to the fact it is at the SCG. Skippy is a smart player who is good at judging when to roll forward of his man and find space. This is not so useful on the SCG as their is less space and also Sydney play a very congested style, if we have any space we need it to be vacant for our runners.

NLM's strength over the ball will be useful and I expect Reimers to start really improving now, he showed glimpses last week but his kicking let him down. So they stay in.

Im not sure why the Bellchambers for Hooker swap is so popular. I know Hooker was poor last week but up until then we have been pretty happy with his work has a 2nd ruck. I know Bellchambers is more of a genuine ruckman but do we expect his output to really be that much better than Hookers atm? Plus Hooker has flexibility, I know Sydney dont have a big forwardline but you never know where else he could be used. I think Hooker got exposed a lot because Knights left him in the ruck for much longer on friday night, **** knows why.

Because Ryder looked spent which is exactly why we need to find some proper cover for him. We need someone in the team that can tak a fair bit of the workload without costing the team too much. I have to say i would not normally advocate bringing Bellchambers in because i think he is a fair way off being a decent AFL footballer but he will most certainly be more effective than Hooker in terms of pure Ruckwork/hitouts. If we end up making the finals we need Ryder fresh and firing.

Firstly.....why is everybody calling for Skippy to be dropped? Yeah he had an average game friday night but so did the rest of the team besides McPhee, Prismall, and Dempsey! Before the collingwood game he was averaging about 18 touches and 2 goals a game since he came back from injury and now 1 bad game and he needs to get dropped......GIVE ME A BREAK! Skipworth plays!!!

Also, would absolutely love to see Myers in for us and getting a run in the midfield and warranting his draft selection but unfortunately for him Houli got best on for our 2's so he probably gets 1st preference seeing as though he would most likely be in the side still if he didnt get ill a few weeks back!

Out- Monfries, Hooker, Lovett-Murray, Lonergan or Dyson.
In- Watson, Bellchambers, Hurley, McVeigh or Houli.

Bourbon and Beef?

Re: who is going to sydney?

Was so bloody close to booking a trip to Sydney to watch the Dons take on the Swans. :( Oh well, I've got the MCC Membership to take care of when finals time comes around anyway!

Bourbon and Beef?

I'd say we'd most likely stop off for a beer at the good old B&B. If we go after the footy i'll most likely be wearing my red hoodie. I'm a big bloke so i'll stand out too. Come say g'day (hopefully it's me and you don't look like a douche:D)

Dropping Lonergan or Lovett-Murray for a game against Sydney would be unwise IMO. They are extremely strong bodied and on the smaller SCG we are going to need all the help we can get in this department (Strength over the ball being NLM and Lonergans forte). Not to mention the fact that their form has been as strong as Skipworths if not stronger.

And Dyson, no way jose.

I would like to see Hurley in the side at some stage but not sure if this week suits. I suppose if they put him in for NLM then it wouldnt be the worst, but please dont drop NLM for Houli

Rainman makes a good point about the contested ball against sydney, we need those hard bodies! I still believe Skippy's form has been better than NLM and Lonergans though.....he just goes about his business unnoticed and does all the team things and is very composed when this young team gets a little stuck in traffic!

Also...i dont think there will be that many changes I was just predicting possible ins and and outs. It may well be as simple as:-

Out- Monfries(injured), Hooker.
In- Watson, Bellchambers.

If McVeigh is available he obviously comes in and I would say the next in line for ommission would be NLM.

Re: Barry Hall Retirement

You wouldn't think it would- Judging by what some of the fans have said, it's a decision that's been a long time coming.

Out : Monfries, NLM, Hooker
In : Watson, McVeigh, Houli

If i was coach thats easy changers for me.

Skipwortyj jas played wrll and gives an impacy coming off the bench. Bachar Houli played well when he was playing in the 1sts and deseves hus spot back. Watson well nothing to say there.

Ins = McVeigh, Bellchambers, Watson, Houli
Outs = Gus, Hooker, Skippy, NLM

Watson, Priz, Budda and spike are going to pivital around the stoppages for us, those hard bodies should win that battle. Stoppage footy is Sydney's game style but I feel this will be there down fall as I think we have the better insides mids of the two sides.

Houli can shut down Shaw and will hurt Sydney with his penetrating kicks on the small SCG ground.

Belly to give Ryder a well deserved chop out + I think Belly was improving with every game that he played before his injury.

NOTE: I would even consider dropping Stanton, just like Lyon dropped Del Santo. I honestly think if we did this Stanton would come back into the side a better player with a better appreciation for the game.

Re: Barry Hall Retirement

Nah he is not playing..

Not sure what they are planning - maybe he gets to do a lap of honour at half time, or something ...

Very easy. Paddy is getting worn out by rucking for 80% of the game. The reason Knights had to leave Hooker for longer periods in the ruck is becasue of the fact that Ryder is starting to pick up a few niggling injuries and has been carrying most of the work load.

Bellchambers probably wont give us any more than Hooker but we need to make a decision on who we can give more ruck time to or Ryder will not make it to the end of the season.

Week by week he has started to take longer to come up for games.

Ryders body is wearing thin and his output in games has greatly changed. I don't believe Hooker is the right option for our second ruckman but can't see Belly doing much differently.
What we could do is bring Belly in, leave Hooker in the side and get him to do some ruck contests in the back 50. Sydney aren't a quick side so having an extra tall wouldn't be do much of a concern.
