Re: Team for Sydney

I like these changes, would have like belle chambers in for Hooker but these are good.

i expect Hurley to play forward at times and until monfires returns and in the coming weeks he will move to defense to replace Hooker, and for TBC to come in to play back up ruckman. By that time I would consider our team as strong as it can get this years (ie No Hille)

Re: Team for Sydney

I'd like to see Hurls go forward a bit.

Rotate him through both the forward and backline. Let Fletch have a go at ruck duties when Hurley plays back. Is there any reason not to? Some kind of formula needs to be worked out before the WB game, or we could be staring at a 100 point defeat.

Re: Team for Sydney

Wise selections this week to suit our opponent and the ground we're playing at.

If Watson gets up and plays (fingers crossed), it will be our strongest line-up for a season (minus Monfries & Hille).

Looking forward to giving the Swans everything we've got. Pretty content that our team selected can come home with the points - but unfortunately games are not won on paper, especially in Sydney.

Re: Team for Sydney

Hoping to see Hurley play forward, Don't really see a matchup for him otherwise. Would have been nice to see him on Hall.

Re: Team for Sydney

Couldn't call it our strongest team this year with Hille still out. (and Monfries)

It is almost like I prayers answered with Skippy going out.

Bit surprised to see NLM omitted as he provides us with aggression but was well off last week.

I expected Hurley to replace Hooker but I guess Hooker for rucking.

McVeigh will take Monfries place and Hurley NLM's.

If Watson aint fit enough then NLM will probs play.

Re: Team for Sydney

great looking team. I've been OS for 3 weeks and haven't seen a live Bombers game since before the split round! Really good In's. Hurley up forward would be almost arousing. Pleased to see Myers as an emergency, too. It would be sensational if he could show us a few tricks at some point this year

Re: Team for Sydney

Midfield looks so much better now, very excited about hurley playing after never being out of the best in bendigo

Re: Team for Sydney

In his EFC website game preview thingy Knights said Hurley could be used up both ends - forward to help out Lloyd/Lucas, back to free up Hooker for rucking duties (whilst Fletch/Pears remain the key backs).

I will go bonkers if they play Hooker and expect him to ruck.

It doesnt work and is unfair on the team.

Hooker needs to play forward if he is the back up ruck.

Re: Team for Sydney

Why does everyone keep saying there's no matchup for Hurley? As if he can only play on the big gorillas

At the very least he can take our kick ins which will release Fletcher to be a marking option further up the ground.

Hurley kick in - 50 meters to Fletch. Fletch 60 Meter kick - That's almost a goal at the SCG!

Re: Team for Sydney

How long is Skipworth out for? I really wanted to see him :( I can't find any info on his injury on the Bombers website or injury update...weird.

Watson completes fitness test

In a major boost for the Bombers' chances this weekend, Jobe Watson today successfully completed a taxing fitness test on his ankle.

The star midfielder now looks almost certain to line-up in tomorrow's crucial clash with Sydney at the SCG.

"Playing in Sydney is one of the great tests (in football) and we are looking forward to the challenge," football operations manager Paul Hamilton said today.

"He (Jobe) will be an important player for us at the SCG, there are always lots of stoppages and we know he is a good stoppages player.

"The final decision on whether he plays might not be made until tomorrow morning because it depends how he pulls up today but the signs are good.
