Opinion Changes vs Sydney

Good and fair changes. Bit of pace and class there although I'm surprised Bennell kept his spot. Petterd and Bail were no good and Fitzy and Bate were the right ones to also make way.

Our forward half looks good this week, hopefully Jurrah can snag a few.

It was his first game back and he was playing in a forward line that got nothing but butchered ball when it did go down there.

Saw Howe getting a bit of it. Davey wasn't great but still worked his ass off and laid 6 tackles. Clark, when down there, was terrific. Hell, even Jamar plucked a mark or two.

Petterd was very, very poor and he makes way. I'm not necessarily excited to see Green back but there can be no complaints with Petterd being dropped. Needs to lift his game and his work rate.

Can people stop using tackles as a means of measuring how a player played? Bennell had 5 tackles and people are going on about how shit he was.

Davey is useless when he doesn't get the ball (12 touches isn't enough), his tackling is doing nothing.

He was shit last week.

Davey just doesn't work hard enough, needs to get back to 2010 when he would skirt behind the mark and pick up handballs.

They're cheap possessions but he is still probably the best kick in the team. Let him do so. Fear he is being told to stick to the forward line where he has to deal in scraps, he's just not that kind of player any more. Lacks the spark.

Bail out is logical.

Green, Jurrah, Watts all in - hopefully it isn't a case of too many cooks up forward on the small ground. Maybe someone will play down back.

Dez! you are not the god of football knowledge, Petterd has been very average in the two games he has played in this year and green was quite good for casey last week so its a very fair in.

You bag posters question Watts, whilst saying that he is fine without hunger and intensity, yet you bag the shit out of Green despite the fact he is a pretty good user of the ball. You also say that tackles dont measure a game, well Petterd barely touched the ball in either of the two games he has played for us so no idea why he should be automatically safe in the team coz he has showed a few glimpses in his 5 years at the club, to be honest id much rather persist with bennell. Just coz a guy has played 1 or 2 good games in 5 years, doesnt mean you can play favourites on selection table

But what did Petterd do that warrants selection? He got promoted and barely had a possession in the first half when the game was on the line. Why does he deserve to keep his spot after that? Fitzpatrick did more and he was dropped also after one week.

Could not agree more, dont understand why he gets so much more love from supporters than someone like bennell, if anything he is even more inconsistent

I can - Bennell is soft, goes missing and doesn't do enough with the talent that he clearly has.

Petterd's last few seasons have been good and he has proven on a few occasions that he can kick goals - but this year he has been woefully out of form and when we needed him to make an impact last week he didn't get anywhere near it. He and Bennell play different positions and with Jurrah, Watts and Green returning it is no surprise Petterd missed out. Simple as that.

I just didn't like the argument that he only got one week. He wasn't exactly tearing the house down at Casey and that showed last week. With Jurrah back he will need to work very, very hard to get a look in over the coming months.

They do play different positions, but id like to see Bennell get a proper crack at the vacant small forward position we have. Yes he is a bit soft and he does drift out of games, but he is our most natural crumber of the ball and he has a strong goal sense, something that a lot of melbourne players dont have

I think the difference is that Petterd at his best is a lot better than Bennell, but Petterd's worse is worse than Bennell's.

brock_sylvia is spot on about Petterd. He continues to ride on the coat tails of a couple of games in 2010 and one game last year where he had 850 tackles. He really has not given a yelp at AFL level for 18 months.

Sorry I'm just going over my posts looking for the part where I claimed I am the "God of football knowledge", sadly couldn't find it.

Green was decent but he should dominate the VFL and he didn't, he doesn't deserve a call up after one decent game. Petterd deserves more than one game to prove himself, but if he continues to struggle then by all means drop him.

People are allowed to bag Watts but my problem is that people seem to be judging him on his "lack" of "hunger and intensity" instead of the football ability he possesses. He's a kid that's got no idea what he's supposed to be doing because he's thrown into a different position every 10 minutes with an entirely different role.

Stick him at CHF and watch him go, Neeld will be surprised at what he can do if he's left at CHF where he should be.
