I believe you. I'm not questioning what anyone else took out of the game- it always amazes me the way supporters see games differently.

I could be way off on Grant, he just looked like a changed man to me yesterday. Like something had clicked.

I thought he stood back a bit until he put Stratton on his backside then something seemed to click with him

6 players out and only 5 in - you forgot the Bont! I'd avoid making unnecessary changes; Hrovat and Stevens should get another game. Didn't see the VFL game, did Dale and Hunter do enough to earn a game? At this point with Wallis and Morris out I feel we need as much experience as possible. I'd even consider keeping Goodes in this week for that reason alone.
i didn't watch the game so i took a massive stab due to tons of negative stuff i have seen

Dale and Hunter are majorily pushing for senior selection, Dale just knows where to go and is a class above and Same goes to Hunter.

Hamling in for Morris since he can play small or talls and is a great third tall

So Moz has definitely torn his pec and will miss a few months right? Terrible news :( but in saying that it could be a blessing in disguise. I've been so impressed by Hamling and his game on saturday was great again. He's ready to go and considering the form of Talia well he just wouldn't be able to get a game at the moment. So if he can continue to play how he has so far over the preseason and we've found an athletic tall who can probably play on the 3rd tall or maybe even the 2nd tall (depending on match ups), provides a bit of run, has nice skills and is fantastic in the air. Well that leaves our backline off a lot better for the future. We will miss Moz though :(

Has anyone heard the latest on Wallis? He is just a huge loss considering Libbas out and Clay isn't ready (although he looks pretty damn close, would give him another week or two just to be sure though. He probably only needs one more tbh). Hopefully Boyd returns and can take over that pure in and under role that we desperately need, and then Bonts is obviously a huge inclusion in the middle too. If Wood returns that'd be great as well, although I'd still keep Webb in. Push either him or JJ up to the wing if needed. So if Wally misses then hopefully Boyd can cover his role if not I'd probably like to see Stevens spend more time in the guts, and Hrovat as well (he was rusty but he looks so much better in the middle, he is absolutely a midfielder in my mind, not a small forward)

Cordy must be dropped for Redpath.

I'm not sure Redpath is a certainty to come back in.

He took a couple of nice marks and was clever with his kicking on Saturday, but other than that, meh. We need the second ruck in there.

You're brave suggesting Cordy stays in around here. ;)

Would they bring in Campbell? I know him and minson are both as agile as my grandfathers tractor but Campbell offers so much more up forward than cordy.

I was trying to say it without actually saying it :p

I think threenewpadlocks mentioned something similar earlier on. The side is more balanced with Ayce than Redpath, and it's better for Boyd's development.

Campbell should get the chance to find some form & fitness at VFL level before being brought in for a role that probably won't suit him.

I'd keep Cordy in we must give the big guys some continuity but of course patience is virtue not easily found in these parts.

Goodes needs to actually not play as the sub or not play at all. It looks like Bont and Boyd will be ok to play and Hammers is a logical replacement for Morris.

Honeychurch looks to be ok. So Bont in for Wally, Boyd in for Stevens, Hammers for Morris. But who knows.

This is probably the best time for Moz to get injured, if there is such a thing. Gives someone like Hamling a chance who probably would have been a lock in Round 1 if not for his own injury, but might have had a tough time getting past Roughy, Talia, Moz etc. to break into the squad. Furthermore, a bit of an extended break for him means that he comes back in towards the end of the season as some of our youngsters likely begin to struggle to run out games and a lack of pre-seasons hit them.

(and means he plays on for a premiership tilt ;))

I've been thinking about it and I think the best option at present is to bring Fletch in to play 2nd Forward and roll him back when Will goes off and send Roughead into the ruck.

Not ideal but with the personnel we have and current form I think it's the best option.

Agreed the positive is that hamling gets a good run at it, Moz won't be around forever and we still have murph rough wood and boyd back there. Hrovat and honey will need to fill the Wallis position. I imagine stringer will get time in there too.

I'm tempted to drop goodes this week for hunter. Adelaide has a lot of toughness yes but could be a side we can compete with skills wise. I loved hunters first half in te vfl, think he's a chance.

The effort is not there from Cordy especially off the ball someone who wants to take there chance and work hard should be in.

Agree Goodes shouldn't be sub but he played three quarters on the weekend for 5 touches not good enough for time on the ground

What would Cordy have to do or not do to get dropped? At the moment it seems for some people all Cordy needs to do is turn up to retain his place. Serious question.

The so called structure argument dosnt stand up for me.
You simply cannot perform like he has and be picked again this week.
The team will think they will be playing 1 short again if he lines up against the Crows.

I'd only replace the injured players and Goodes. Bring in Bont and Boyd if ready or Hunter if one doesn't come up.
No tall played well enough to be rewarded with a senior spot, but Hamling in for Moz as a like for like replacement is probably the go.
So, Out: Wallis, Morris, Goodes
In: Bontempelli, Boyd/Hunter, Hamling.

Instruct Hrovat and Dahlhaus to play inside and hope for the best.

So 2 2 handball games is enough to be rewarded another game in the seniors?

Will be filthy if Cordy gets another game this weekend. Offers nothing. People suggest that Cordy is more agile. Great. What does he do with it? Barely tackles and has had just 4 handballs in two weeks. Yes, Campbell and Redpath aren't as agile. However both provide a presence up forward, with Campbell obviously being the better ruck and Redpath being able to get around the ground better.

I honestly think Cordy's agility and work below his knees is over-rated saw no signs of it on the weekend and his work off the ball is horrible stands and puts a hand in the air for the ball yet couldn't hold a wet paper bag out

I've always been a fan of continuity, don't like dropping players after one or two games, especially if there's no apparent replacement.
They dropped Redpath after 1

I agree with continuity but Cordy doesn't and never will have it
Time to move on and accept he is done, give the next guy a chance

And I didn't like it at the time.
The problem is there is no next guy at the moment.

I can understand that and i can understand the fact that the other talls aren't screaming to be selected and I don't mean to just pick on your post.

My opinion is it's a double edge sword to say someone isn't doing enough to be rewarded with a senior game but then continually rewarding a guy who isn't performing at senior level, in hindsight Redpath was better in one game than Cordy has been in two.

I my opinion Cordy can't be gifted another game for the sake he might come right he has to be out if that means a small comes in cause no tall is yelling out for a game then so be it but can't play again after 2 2 handball games

I respectfully disagree. Redpath actively contributed to us almost losing the game. Cordy has been a non entity.
