Geez. I must have been watching a different J. Grant to everyone else.

I wanted him gone at the end of last year, I wanted him gone the year before.
In fact I cant remember a time I didn't want him gone.

But yesterday for the first time I saw some hope. Because for the first time ever I think I saw genuine endeavour from Grant. And not just I want to get the ball & kick a goal endeavour, but backs to the wall, team first endeavour.

Talent has never been his issue, but maybe, finally, for whatever reason Grant is starting to get it.

1 important stat for Grant yesterday.
6 tackles.
That's his career high people.

I saw a guy who repeatedly refused to go when it was his turn..... Perhaps his tackles came from getting to the ball second, not first....

Out: Wallis (inj.), Morris (inj.), Cordy (omitted), Goodes (omitted)
In: Bontempelli, Boyd, Hamling, Redpath

Stevens and Grant are lucky boys. There are too many other injuries, sore bodies and poor performances. Can't really drop 6-7 players in a week (or can we).

Thanks for the update
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :p

I'm a big fan. His height won't get in his way at all, he's got so much class & composure. Played well against the Pies in NAB3 and would probably have played by now if not for the injury.

Yeah not ideal for him, but he's a nuggety little bugga. Watched him a lot last year and he definitely has all the skills and some and what you say about class and composure is spot on, if you can track down some of his SANFL highlights from last year (if not done already) his ball handling is exquisite

I believe you. I'm not questioning what anyone else took out of the game- it always amazes me the way supporters see games differently.

I could be way off on Grant, he just looked like a changed man to me yesterday. Like something had clicked.

I agree with you, I thought he went when it was his go and was committed. He really tried it's just his disposal was poor and it let him down.
6 tackles and 6 of it 10 touches were contested.

Out: Stevens, Hrovat Cordy, Morris, Wallis, goodes
In: hamling, Dale, Hunter, Redpath, Moyd
6 players out and only 5 in - you forgot the Bont! I'd avoid making unnecessary changes; Hrovat and Stevens should get another game. Didn't see the VFL game, did Dale and Hunter do enough to earn a game? At this point with Wallis and Morris out I feel we need as much experience as possible. I'd even consider keeping Goodes in this week for that reason alone.

You might be right mate, maybe I've just lost hope with him. But things like the chest mark attempt (while someone was hanging on/surgically attached to him) and a few other incidents when I saw him wait, rather than go - unlike all his teammates - coloured my view significantly.....

Dales a classy kid , and was pretty good , but not sure I want to throw that scrawny body in just yet.
Hunter is ready.

Why does no one have Wood as an in?

I'm pretty sure he mentioned on radio that both he and Moyd were dead certs to start next week.
I didn't hear that. His past history of soft tissue injuries doesn't leave me with much optimism that the current issue being a one-week hamstring problem.

I still have nightmares about the last time we brought him back a week early from a hamstring injury.

Give him another week. Wood is very clearly in the "no risk acceptable" column for me.

I think, and im quite sure that he took this week against Hawks off as a precaution only. Oh well. Bonus if he plays. We need him.
If he does come in this week it'll be interesting to see how we play him. If he comes in for Moz he's going to have to play on the likes of Lynch, which doesn't play to his strengths at all. If Hamling comes in as well and plays that role, we look a bit top-heavy. Guys like Murphy, Webb and Johannisen are going to be vital to break through the Crows' press and I worry taking all of Roughead, Talia, Wood and Hamling into the game may play into their hands.

What was the extent of Wood's injury? Was it a forced omission or erring on the side of caution?

He could be back. I'd rather not risk it but there's every chance he's 100% good to go.

Don't see Boydy as a cert with a calf issue at his age. I'd love to have him back this week but history isn't on his side.

Hamling surely gets a go with Moz out.
