I’m a supporter of Shiels and think it was a good cheap pick up for us, but surely we’ve gone past him now.

Put him in the VFL to develop the kids, that’s his role this year.

Based on yesterdays VFL game I would bring in Sellers for CCJ instead of Comben.
Jy is good to go and Greenwood comes in. Pink is no good.

Reading the track watcher comments, Will Phil and Hardeman played well as did Harvey and Sellers. Free dominated Goad. Archer was solid. Comben was solid to good, albeit with rusty disposal at times.

I think Harvey will be a regular in the senior side this year. He's building nicely.

The 2 most troubling performances from yesterday were Corr and Fisher imo

1 was never in it, and the others' disposal was so diabolical it had my eyes watering.

Obviously, we have to persevere with both, but for how long? Both were massive liabilities in the weakest part of the ground.

Shiels plays every game, as should Greenwood. We simply aren't good enough to leave hundreds of games of experience on the pine.

If pre-season training is anything to go by, I expect to see Drury in. Lazaro to keep his spot.

However, how well you train shouldn’t mean shit if AFL level just isn’t for you. So let’s keep the drurys and lazzaros to VFL until they we see consistent games of 3+ goals or mid 30’s disposals.

We can't just assume they're going to play like that for most of the year. Corr is a decent player coming off a shithouse preseason. It'll take him a while. Once he settles, he'll be fine. He should never have been named, and the people claiming that that's a normal performance for him are absolutely taking the piss.

Fisher bit off more than he could chew. Expectations of new recruits on here are ALWAYS over the top. He was never a star at Carlton. He was a serviceable role player. I tried to say that but got shut down by people who looked at his highlight reel. He needs to stick to that ethos of not being the main man and avoid receiving handballs in situations that Houdini would struggle to get out of.

Shiels looked like an old man for the first time, but engines can take a while to get going. Wouldn't surprise me if he was dropped but I'd like to see him get a sustained crack at it sometime this year. Greenwood probably does deserve to be playing as a utility.

I trust the coaches to figure this stuff out, tbh. Shiels is a much more tolerable Clarko crush than Howe was

Lmac will be the obvious replacement whether we like it or not

Bergman didn’t play the prac match as he was game day emergency

Wilphil and Simpkin should easily come in for laz and shiels

And the sub option could be one of the mid forwards
