CHANGES VS THE SINNERS.

If we are going to drop Kersten maybe it should be for a more mobile medium size player, with good skills and smarts. That changes up the structure a bit, but it might upset the balance for a lack of talls.
Kersten don't have skills and smarts yet do replace him you need a mobile medium size with good skills and smarts.

You have it basically exactly backwards.

The quality of our forward 50 entires looks shocking because we have no forward structure. You can't expect every entry to be a lace out pass to a lead. Most entries are going to be to a contest. You need people in the forward line who can win those contests.
Argues we need forwards that win contests, then suggests Craberner.

Too much pressure on Darcy. OK it was an impressive debut as a ruckman to fill in for an injured Sandi, but to be already talking about him as a forward is too much.

Sandilands forward is not the answer either. I mean come on, in 250+ games and 15 seasons, when has he ever dominated as a forward? For all his size he doesn't make many marks, he doesn't read the play well enough and is often caught out of position at the drop of the ball. He averages 3.6 marks per game (less than 1 mark per quarter) over his entire career. He is not the sort of guy who is going to turn our fortunes around by standing in the goal square and playing to his weakness.

Yeah sure. I wouldn't expect much from either Sandi or Darcy fwd. I've noticed that we've not even pretended to use Sandi was a fwd this year much. Saves on the embarrassment I guess.

Probably going smaller would be the better option, but if the powers that be don't like that idea, I'd still drop Kersten for a returning Sandi. A resting but ordinary ruck/fwd isn't going to do any worse at this stage.

I am not sold on either of them. I think the root cause of our forward problems is a lack of system and set-up. We need to find something that works with the same core group and not chopping and changing. Otherwise we will just end up saying "Tabs out, Kersten in" in a couple of weeks time.

Exactly. People on here always think personnel changes are going to fix our problems. Same with defense; it's always out Ibbo, Sutcliffe, Sheridan, Spurr and then back in for whoever replaced them the next week.

I reckon Darcy can and will develop into a good forward when resting from the ruck, he has shown this in games at Peel already.
No disrespect to Sandi but he appears to be a much better all round footballer, he created st least 3 clearances from contests from his own ruck work.
That is football nous and will at the contest - not that easy to teach - he already has it.

Id bring Fyfe in for Kersten. Fyfe to play forward, that is 'in the F50' forward, not this running to CHB then sprinting to the the F50 rubbish. Our midfield was good today.
Hughes for Sheridan.
Im not as anti Spurr as many on here but if there's someone in Peel that can cover his role im happy for it.
Logue an Suban can stay, just.
My big (pun intended) is Darcy. Ross is a coach with a system and players need to suit that system. Its clear that the current gameplan is for one ruck and a chopout from Cox/Tabs. If Sandi is fit I have a horrible feeling he will be dropped. I really want to be wrong. I still think back to Simpson being dropped for Mayne after Simpson played a blinder.
Darcy in the goal square would be great to see. Real old-school footy.

Sheridan and Kersten likely to come out on that perfomance. Delucca faded but 1st half was fantastic. Suban and Logue did enough.

Give Ryan a rest for Hughes or Balic.

Gee is what good to have Ballas back in the forward line and linking at half forward. Him and Langdon in the same lineup will be lethal.

How did deluca go today?
I liked what I saw before he was injured.Hard running, tough at the contest, always trying to force things forward and plenty of pressure on their ball carrier. For a first gamer it was B performance before the injury I thought and previously I'd considered him a delist certainly.Don't think that anymore after today,he showed enough for more time on the AFL stage.

Need to send mundy back into the forward line at least he is strong enough to provide a contest is a good mark and is good below his knees.

I don't disagree, but we don't have a choice. Kersten has had 26 possessions and 1 goal in his last 4 games. Aside from that, he's not even halving the contests he's in, he's getting outmarked far too often. He's also a defensive liability - he can't even use the Mayne defence, he's had 5 tackles in the last 4 weeks.

I certainly don't want to see him delisted, but as it stands now you could put anyone on the list in his position and they couldn't do any worse.
As shit as kersten has been this year. I dare you to compare him to Colin Sylvia and Jack Anthony.

OUTS - Sheridan, Kersten (Not much difference between him and McCarthy, but McCarthy has more WOW factor so gets the nod) Suban, Logue (Needs to develop at peel or go forward for mine)
IN - Hughes, Sandi, Fyfe, Grey (Hope hes back)

Out: Kersten, Sheridan, Logue, Crozier/Suban
In: Sandilands/Taberner, Hughes, Fyfe, Langdon

I would give Luke Ryan another game but he needs to find a way to get a bit more involved. I don't want to drop Logue but he looks so unsure at the moment, but it's good that he is getting a taste (Ryan could be substituted for Logue). Not fussed who of Crozier or Suban goes but Deluca was better than both.

There's no point bringing in the likes of Logue and Deluca (possible injury aside) for one game and then dropping them. Consistent changes in a development year are fine, but not to the extent that guys who have played their way in are only given one game and 60% TOG to try and solidify their place.

For mine the only certain out should be Sheridan. Hasn't given any glimpses of improvement in well over a year. Other outs/ins are contingent on how Fyfe and Sandi are going.

Play Tabs, Fyfe or whoever up forward for me is more about taking the pressure of Cam. He is a natural footballer suited to the 2nd or 3rd tall role. Getting the best defender and playing that number 1 beast forward is not his game. If someone else can take the heat off, bring the ball to the ground I think we'll see Cam get a heap better.
If only we could get a look at Apeness this year.
