CHANGES VS THE SINNERS.

Zac Dawson has been kicking goals for Peel too.

I just don't think dropping an actual forward and replacing him with a rookie ruck/forward is going to result in any sudden improvement in our fortunes. I think it is asking a bit too much. If a full-time forward is struggling to get into the game and fit into the structure and game plan (if we've even got one) then I don't think that problem can be solved by changing him out for a part-timer.
All of our tall forwards are looking very average ATM, but honestly if we get some sort of structure we
will improve out of sight.
Any forward that runs away from the guy trying to find a lead? Weller in the end tried to make someone
come towards him to kick to.
At least Tabs runs forward, leads, and Darcy appears to be a natural footballer with brains, can only
help because the two talls we are using are looking lazy, beaten, out of form.

These two because they are trade into freo is making a mockery of the selection committee with their lack of effort .Meanwhile Tab is doing the same with peel as he is demotivated .

The thing that shits me about Spurr is that he seems to go to ground everytime he gathers the loose ball or just aimlessly tries to kick it long and turns it over. I can't question his leadership and organisation down back but his skills leave a lot to be desired. His marking seems to have waned over he years as well.
Yeah - he's on his way out for sure. That's why I picked him. Plenty of opportunities to fly the flag for him haha.

He also, and the whole bloody team does, flies for every entry he can, when sometimes we just need representation at ground. Why have 3-4 blokes compete the same ball and leave 2-3 opponents unmanned at the fall of the ball. Shits me to tears.

Darcy kicked 4 goals for Peel when Griffin lead the ruck. More than Kersten has kicked. Kersten and McCarthy need a spell to find some form. Being dropped shouldn't be seen as such a negative. Go back, enjoy it, come back better. Meanwhile, lets see what Darcy can offer up forward.

What if both are useless playing for peel . Then the recruitment team going to look bad.

Right - time for a detailed analysis :P

IMO the team should look something like this:

FB: Ryan, Hamling, Hughes
HB: Weller, Johnson, Balic
C: Hill, Mundy, Hill
HF: Fyfe, McCarthy, Deluca
FF: Ballantyne, Darcy, Walters

Followers: Sandilands, Blakely, Neale

Interchange: Suban, Cox, Crozier, Tucker

So overall the changes are:

Out: Sheridan, Spurr, Kersten, Logue
In: Fyfe, Balic, Sandilands, Hughes

Firstly the definite outs: Sheridan and Kerstan need to go. Kerstan, as everyone has noticed, seems like he doesn't even want to be out there. Spurr is only a maybe. TBH he would almost certainly be a better choice than Ryan and Hughes, but if we want to really rebuild... Logue is also unlucky, he made some critical errors yesterday though and seems to be affected by pressure too much at this point. Would be more than happy for him to stay in and Hughes to keep playing WAFL.

The ins: Fyfe and Sandi are obvious, I would personally have Balic straight into this side next week, he is clearly a great prospect. The fourth in is subjective, as I said - Hughes, Logue, Ryan, Spurr all fighting for two spots.

Suban: Stays - did enough to warrant another game.

The forward line: So clearly this is our greatest weakness, followed closely by transitioning through the half-back line. The inclusion of Sandilands could fix both of these. Sandi is amazing at either marking the ball at HB, or spoiling it over the line. Additionally, with Darcy coming on, that provides another option for our forward line. We should now set up with a genuine stay at home FF, which will either be Sandilands or Darcy, as they will be rotating.

Another key point is we have built some pretty decent depth around our midfield. Fyfe could possibly play the majority of his game at HF, rotating with Mundy through the centre. This ensures we have that extra tall target and along with Darcy, completely changes the look of our forward line.

Talking points:
1) Cox is going to be a player! Showed excellent contesting marking with a great leap.
2) McCarthy needs time. He has been horribly inconsistent this season, however, he has at least shown desire to be there unlike some others (Ahem, Kersten). With a better structure around him, he would likely influence the game much more.
3) All of you with terrible memory, stop recommending Tabs come in. The bloke hasn't got a clue. His biggest weakness is he a dumb footballer. Physically, he should be killing it, and does when he is mentally on. Unfortunately, he is too prone to brain fades and plays one decent game in 5. He got dropped because he was absolutely awful for 3 games in a row. I thought he was going to come good after that first game, but ultimately it was just another false dawn from the man.
4) How much better would our backline be with A. Pearce in it, allowing Johnson to play the sweeper role properly. Can't wait for this bloke to get back.

I think that's enough rambling for now. Will fade into the background once more :D

I don't watch Peel or WAFL generally on a regular basis. What sort of forward does he play - is he a mobile/leading type forward or a stand alone in the goal square type? He didn't look particularly quick to me.

If we are going to drop Kersten and replace him with another tall, my worry is that it will make us more prone to bombing the ball in long to the so-called "hot-spot" 10-20m out and hoping for a pack mark or a crumb, which is a very low percentage tactic and more often seems to result in a rebound goal to the opposition than a score to us. It won't offer an improvement.

I'd rather pick a medium-sized player with the speed and smarts to present on a lead, and push up the ground a bit too if required. I'd rather change the forward structure towards smaller and quicker rather than taller and slower. No disrespect to Darcy personally, I thought he made a great debut.

Out Kersten, Shero, Spurr, Walter (Suspended)
In: Fyfe, Sandi, Hughes, Tabs (unless it is wet, then Nyhuis)

Tabs adds to the forward line, except in the wet. Never play him if it rains.

In: Fyfe & Sandi
Out: Kersten or Mccarthy & Sheridan

Have sandi and darcy rotating at ff.

I'm leaning towards Kersten being dropped this week. Im a supporter of him as he's a local lad, but he needs some confidence from the wafl. I can see him doing well for Peel and coming back soon.

Last chance for Mccarthy this week.

The Saints are a fast running team. If we select two lumbering rucks be prepared for a repeat of the Brisbane fiasco. Still, it will help consolidate our position in the draft, giving us yet another chance at a high pick bust:(.

Rather a lumbering darcy & Sandi to our two kpf spuds.

Thought Kersten and McCarthy looked like lumbering ruckman resting in the forward line yesterday. Did either of them get off the ground once in a marking contest? Maybe it was an optical illusion but I thought they were the two slowest players out there - and they are both supposed to be fast. I don't get how they can look cooked coming back from the bye? I will be furious if it comes out that either mis-spent their week off.

yep

Michael Walters can accept $1000, striking PDangerfield.

Hayden Ballanytne can accept $1000, striking ZTuohy.

Wow, the match committee must have been really waiting for Ballas to return. First time they have had to investigate every second of a game because they are sure that he must have offended somewhere!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. No pace at all!!!

Well I'm not sure about Kersten off field....but I've heard things about Mccarthy when he's not playing footy. Wont go into it as it's not footy related but i hope he matures up soon.

Hey everyone... good luck for this weekend.

I've got a couple of tickets that I bought behind the goals but can't get to Perth anymore. They were $70 but I'll sell them for $50. Probably everyone here has tickets already but just thought on the off chance someone was after a couple of cheapies, please PM.

Wow surprised by Walters. Thought he had a weeks holiday for sure.
No way he could have got suspended after Joel Selwood got off last week. If he dropped his knees into his head that might have been different. Silly for him to do it just like it was pathetic for Jelwood to do what he did last week.
