CHANGES VS THE SINNERS.

Stephen Hill was a young jet from the start. There would not be one person that saw him in his first few games that would have doubted he was a 200 gamer in the making. The same can't be said for Logue, I think he'll make it but the doubts are legit.
I just think the same approach would work for Logue as for Hill. Ie Continual exposure at the top level.

Tbf, he's hopeless largely because apparently the rules of the game don't apply to anyone above 210cm. It's ridiculous that just because he's taller than everyone defenders get a leg up by being allowed to chop his arms.
Absolutely! Ross has brought it up before too. Ahhh he chopped his arms, dw about it though, it's Sandilands, it's not like the defender could spoil him anyway! Play on! Sandilands would likely be the player with the most deserved free kicks that were not awarded in history.

Off topic...but could luke ryan become Josh head 2.0. Head (son of richard) was apparently a great kick but couldn't play for those who cant remember !!!

Ryan has been pretty underwhelming for a mature aged pick imo. I know its only 2 games in..its just 1st impressions.

Your first impressions seem to be very different from mine - while Ryan hasn't set the team alight, I certainly haven't seen him make any absolute howlers like most of his (much more experienced!) fellow defenders, and he deserves some kudos for almost pulling off that spectacular marking attempt 40m out in the final minutes on Sunday. I think he's got enough in him to become a solid contributor, at least.

I think it's obvious that Kersten being demoted is the move of the week. We shall see if the match committee agree tomorrow.

The team will look a lot better without spurr around, is hard for Luke Ryan to learn from a leader that create more turn over than yourself , there is also extra pressure build upon Luke shoulder every time the experience defender create a turnover .

Agree with this. Dropped a couple of easy marks and hasn't had it a lot but not uncommon for newbies. Displayed courage and more importantly has already hit some nice kicks and hasn't produced howlers I have seen.

Also didn't sound like Kersten was getting dropped in Ross' presser.

Yeah thought the same re:Kersten when I heard the presser.

Yep only three games in and it's not just him getting used to the pace of the AFL, the rest of the defenders have to get used to playing with him also. They haven't used him properly yet. It's kind of why I wouldn't mind us pulling the trigger on dropping a couple of our stalwart defenders that perhaps aren't going to be around for the next tilt and bring in the guys that likely will be. Rapport is so important in a backline imo - and you need 8 or so guys that can step in, know their role and everyone else's roles - takes time and experience to develop.

In: Sandi, Fyfe, Hughes, Grey, Nyhuis

Out: Kersten, Sheridan, Suban, Crozier, Spurr

B: Logue - Hamling - Hughes
HB: Weller - Johnson - Blakely
C: B.Hill - S.Hill - Walters
HF: Deluca - Cox - Ballas
F: Fyfe - McCarthy - Grey
Fol: Sandi - Neale - Mundy
Int: Darcy - Ryan - Tucker - Nyhuis
Emg: Tabs, Collins, Ibbo

I'm a bit worried with Sandi and Darcy both playing in the same team. Hopefully we can get away with it be having very mobile tall forwards in Fyfe, McCarthy and Cox.

As much as I want Nyhuis in and Spurr out, I doubt it would happen. Just seems like Spurr will never be dropped.

Blakely and Weller to provide rebound off half-back. Blakely's game vs Geelong was great off half back and I would really like him to repeat that performance. He's been moved around a bit this year and hopefully he can find a role he is best at.

You can't really judge any of the new guys like ryan and deluca to at least they have 20-25 afl games under there belt unless they are horrendous beyond repair.

Look at lachie neale his first 15-20 games weren't the best and look at him now.

Young players need time to adjust to the level and step up that is required in the afl as only the great ones do it straight away.

Sandi is absolutely hopeless in our forward line and not much help in kickouts.
I actually meant that he is a way out of defence... i.e. Johnson kicking it to Sandilands.

Still want Darcy and Sandi to both play ... but it probably won't happen

Did Blakely play half back last week because he had that hand injury? It wouldn't (edited typo from would to wouldn't) be a bad idea to stick with it - maybe rotate him through the midfield with Hill and Weller.

I would go something like this but the backline is a little inexperienced and the playing 2 rucks is unlikely. Sheridan needs to be given a different role.

Ryan Hamling Logue
Blakely Johnson Crozier
Weller S.Hill B.Hill
Walters Cox Deluca
Ballantyne McCarthy Mundy

Sandilands Fyfe Neale

Langdon Tucker Sheridan Darcy

In Langdon Fyfe Sandilands
Out Suban Kersten Spurr

What I think you can judge them on are moments, rather than a whole game. A strong mark, a well timed spoil or a lace out kick to a player on the lead. The type of things that can't be taught. Just enough to make you think ' this kid's got something'.Deluca and B Cox have done this for me. Ryan and Logue not so much.

Shez needs to be playing at peel. Can't drop suban before Sheridan on form, also suban could do the job on Steven

I think Ryan has been fine, in fact he's actually concentrating on being accountable whereas in his VFL games he was the outlet man trying to free himself up. Once he gets into Spurr's or Weller's role then we'll see some kicks and creativity.

I reckon this is spot on. He is always manning somebody up. Ross must want him to be able to defend before letting him attack. Don't mind it, tbh. Imagine if Duff was able to defend as well...

He has hit a couple of nice kicks that only Sonny or Mundy could othewise hit. There was one on the weekend actually.

Ryan definitely had a really nice kick inside defensive 50 that hit up a player in between about 3 Geelong players and set us up to attack from the opposite side. First time where I saw what all the fuss about his kicking was about

Yeah that was the one. If it was 5% it was a turnover and goal.
