I know I posted a thread (Which is now locked :( ) about bringing Watts in, but I think he'll stay out for at least another week. Bailey will want to see consistent good form from Watts before he plays in the red and blue again.

In: Gysberts + Watts
Out: Dunn + ?????

Rivers I don't think played poorly like a few people don't know what he did wrong. And Bartram played ok, doesn't deserve to get dropped and he may be needed to tag Priddis, Ebert or one of their other midfielders.

Sylvia didn't look 100% fit, may not come up next week.
Shame, would love to see him get some payback on Kennedy.

I'm not fussed on Watts coming in but it would be nice to have a tall forward in our side so we can take some marks. Just hard trying to find a spot when nobody really deserves to be dropped.

I really want to see Watts in the team next week. Agree with you on that point. What I meant to say is that Gysberts should come in if Sylvia isn't fit.

I'm expecting that you went, I didn't but I did listen to the end of the game and the commentators did say that Morton played well, but I do see that he has had a lot of mixed reviews on the forums.

I will be interested in Gotch's review of Morton's performance. If he did play well I think he should play unless he didn't look fit enough which I would be surprised if he wasn't because even though he has been injured for a while he does have a massive engine so I think it shouldn't have effected him all that much. Considering he has been a good player for the last 2 years I think he shouldn't need to be a standout in the VFL to get back to senior level.

He was very wary of his opponents which you would expect after his first game in 10 weeks. His skill seemed ok, just his intensity and attack was really average. One more at Casey couldn't hurt.

I can now see why no one reads the age.

i guess you read the herald sun then :D
and i completely disagree with you about rivers... you clearly hate the player and even if he plays well
you will refuse to admit it

Bartram should be dropped due to the thumbling in the last quarter and end up Griffins goal :(

Are you serious? That sort of thing happens all the time. It was wet, it was a very high pressure situation, he made a meal of it, move on. Give the guy a break, defiantly wasn't our worst player.

Sorry - Its all about learning experience and teach Bartam a lesson how to deal better in this pressure situation. Rather then trying to get the footy while there is opposition player behind, he should soccer it and gain further valuable distance out of the defensive zone to avoid pressure - very simple.

Sorry again - I prefer to see him dropped for this reason.

sorry- Thats Just ridiculous, the guy is playing the best football he has played for years, and you want to drop him for 1 costly mistake? Get a grip.

It is a valuable lesson to drop him. If not, he might not even learn from this mistake.

Im sure a simple sit down with Dean would be more than adequate. Sending him to the VFL could only damage his new-found confidence.

TBH I don't think there was much more he could have done, he didn't take clean posession as he knew he had 3 on 1 and would be tackled. He kept the ball forward and a dogs player brought him to ground arguably unfairly. What do you propose he would actually learn that only a week off could aid in?

good post

Watching it for the first time we were all screaming at him to soccer it. Watching it again it seemed that the ball just wasn't at the right angle to do it.

That is fair enough. You have your own view and I have mine.

Well, I really hope he really learn from the coach :)

Also think just a talk will suffice.
Something like: "Next time, kick the fuggen ball!"

I am a big Rivers fan when he is playing at his best.

But his past two weeks have been absolutely shithouse.

Joel Mac's form was and is far more superior and he shouldn't have been dropped to begin with. People say he didn't do much at Casey, well no wonder, id be pissed if i was dropped for Rivers who has done **** all for us this year.

Joel Mac's has to come back in for Rivers next week.

Which player hasnt sung the song once this year and has played in three losing games for Melbourne? Only the one, ill let you guess who. :)

Scott McLaren?

He was emergency last night so that sort of counts.

The club should be looking at the possible changes from a different angle to what most are suggesting here... Start with the forwards, we have a chance to exploit WC's 2 big defenders (Glass & Mackenzie) with a fast mobile structure that will run them off their legs, if we keep the same setup... Bringing in Watts this week would play into their hands, Sylvia (hamstring) would be the only concern, Jetta to play if required...

The rest of the team are startng to gel, so keep the continuity happening...

Jack Watts is one step closer

A MOUTH-watering Round 8 clash between Melbourne and West Coast is on the cards after Dees forward Jack Watts staked his claim for a return to senior footy yesterday.

Watts kicked four goals and showed glimpses of the talent the Demons coaching staff know he possesses in Casey's 73-point demolition of Coburg in the VFL at Casey Fields

Facts are Dunn is going to get dropped, and deservedly so, thus his spot should go to the in-form medium/tall forward at Casey.

As of yesterday, that appears to be Jack Watts.

**** the Naitanui factor, Watts has earnt a spot on merit, and should get it.
