By us having a tall player (Watts) for Glass or Mackenzie to play on... If we keep our smallish forwardline as it is, there will be no good match up for their big blokes...

wasnt watts supposed to be one of the quickest players in the 20 metre sprints in the 08' draft??

Of course Watts can't wrestle with the likes of Glass. But it will only be playing into WCE's hands if we bomb it high and long. I'd back Watts to burn them on a lead so provided we give some decent delivery we should be fine

Well if that in fact happened, which I doubt it will as Glass and MacKenzie will got to Green and Sylvia then it could easily play into our hands in numerous ways.

- Watts would burn either of them on the lead, so if we can produce even some decent delivery to him on the run then it shouldn't be a huge factor.

- Watts pushes up the ground taking Glass/Mackenzie with him they are a lot less dangerous in the middle of the ground than down back.

In - Watts, Morton

Out - Dunn, Bruce

Not sure why people are calling for Bartram to be dropped when he shut out Cooney.

I saw Junior going with Cooney the entire game, never saw Bartram anywhere near Cooney.

Bruce was good on Friday, no reason to drop him.

Only one change must happen this week and that is Dunn out for Watts/Gysberts/Jetta.

Im pretty sure junior played on Bartram, but i agree he should not be dropped, he played well apart from the two well publicized mistakes

Booze? Crack? Both?
Hot chili burger. So hot, they make you sign a disclaimer before you eat it.
If you eat it all and keep it down, it's free. Suffice to say, I completed the challenge, but the chilis are making me woozy.
Much like that episode of the Simpsons.

I'd like to see Gysberts in as well, and by all accounts he's playing well enough at VFL level. But if he comes in, can we provide enough grunt and muscle with three first year players in the midfield (plus relative newbie McKenzie as well)? Tricky.
Dunn and Bartram seem to be popular candidates to drop, but they've got a few pre-seasons in them at least, I'd hate to see us lose because Moloney and Jones don't have enough support in the physical contest, there's a balance that needs to be kept.
And don't get me wrong, I'm excited about our first year players, just not sure we can play them all at once.

God I love that episode. Old Simpsons is gold Simpsons.

I'm hardly Bartram's biggest fan, but he was fine. A few other more experienced players made the same mistake. We lost the game in the first quarter. Despite all that, there was some serious fury brewing in Big Ed at the final siren.

I'd love to see Watts out there next Saturday, but I trust Dean to play him when he thinks he's ready.

i guess you read the herald sun then :D
and i completely disagree with you about rivers... you clearly hate the player and even if he plays well
you will refuse to admit it
It's not that I hate Rivers. I hate that people don't see the obvious, and that is that his form has been poor for a long time but, people on the forums still think the sun shines out of his ass. There is no way that he played well.

Okay why ahs no one mentioned Bail? I personally would love to see maric (personal preference) but surely if Bail is fit this week he comes straight back into the side. He was playing terrific footy for us early in the year and if fit should come into the side to replace dunn. Only other possible inclusion is maybe gysberts for Johnson/Sylvia. This is due to Jamar having increased pressure and workload to take on Cox/NicNat which i believ he will thrive on.

IMO morton should have 1 more week at casey, then straight back in. Watts should be picked when we see genuine consistency within his game, which will give him the message that 1 good game doesnt DEMAND selection.

Firstly the rumour is that Bail's quad hasn't quiet fixed itself yet, and unfortunately even if it had he might have to go to Casey first.

The bolded sentence is crazy. Cox and NicNat rotate extremely heavily and would make the back up ruck of Dunn look stupid (because Jamar can't possibly do 100% time, no one can). PJ (or any other of the spuds) need to play and give Jamar a good 25% time on the bench so he doesn't fatigue. I understand that increased responsibility can often bring out the best in guys, but asking Jamar to do a whole game against 2 quality big guys is asking way too much.
