Should we get back on the Spargo merry-go-round again?
Nah.
Give Mentha a crack I say.

they played Windsor more time in the mids, gave Culley a go, played Kozzie even more time in the middle, played Trac more time fwd. so they tried a couple of things. It's going to be Lindsay in for Sharp. We all know it.
We just played a VFL quality team during a VFL bye and STILL refused to actually try anything, so there's no way Goody magically discovers innovation this week.

To be fair he played well. Though his disposal seems to be getting worse? I shut my eyes when he kicks these daysIf the board had any guts they'd question our selection this week (They won't). I'm convinced they played Viney so he could overtake his dad in a win.
am I missing something re: Viney? he had 25 touches, 8 tackles, and 13 clearances and a goal.If the board had any guts they'd question our selection this week (They won't). I'm convinced they played Viney so he could overtake his dad in a win.
You can say it was a mistake to play him with a broken wrist and also say he played well.am I missing something re: Viney? he had 25 touches, 8 tackles, and 13 clearances and a goal.
Hearing Clayton Oliver put in a half-decent shift yesterday? First time in a while. Looking forward to seeing the "Demon Army" perform a standing ovation for him when we're ten goals down.
but Jefferson is awful?....Petty having a decent game against roadkill will see him stay in sadly.
So no game for Jefferson or Kentfield. They had better give Mentha a debut.
So is the team as a while atm. Don't see much harm in giving him a run of games to finish the year and (maybe) better adjust to the levelbut Jefferson is awful?....
Agree, I was more encouraged by his running then by how he played - looked to be transitioning much better.Yeah he played well... against what is essentially a WAFL side with a horrendous midfield.
He needs to be back in Casey. Better for our midfield to try something different and he’s not the player he was at all, though can kick the ball vertically off a step like nobody I have seen.Hearing Clayton Oliver put in a half-decent shift yesterday? Was talking about selection, not tweaks to things they'd already tried.they played Windsor more time in the mids, gave Culley a go, played Kozzie even more time in the middle, played Trac more time fwd. so they tried a couple of things.
So does he.To be fair he played well. Though his disposal seems to be getting worse? I shut my eyes when he kicks these days
fair, what did you want done? Was talking about selection, not tweaks to things they'd already tried.
Culley and Sharp in for Lindsay and Spargo was just rinse and repeat.
PS - Kozzy averages 74.1% CBA for the year, yesterday he went at 73%.
Personally, once the season was done...fair, what did you want done?
but Jeffo is trash so what does that achieve. I've personally made my mind up on Jefferson. I don't need to see him anymore after he started dropping uncontested chest marks. I was glad he was dropped.Personally, once the season was done...
Jeffo and JVR forward, with Melksham basically their onfield forwards coach so they can learn from his leading patterns and craft. Ride the ups and downs with them, either they find form or we get a big sample size to see what's not working for them at senior level. Main instruction is you must lead, all day.
Petty, Turner, Howes as the 3 KPDs. Bowey, McVee, Salem the others (Sestan to replace Salem once he's ready), with Lindsay the 7th also sharing some wing duties. Try Adams if we need a 3rd 'genuine' tall.
Trac permanent forward.
Midfield rotation of Oliver & Viney (together as little as possible), Langford & Windsor (both rotating to wing), Kozzy, Rivers.
No more Spargo/Sharp/Tholstrup roundabout. Play Mentha instead.
And anyone carrying anything at all - You're off to get surgery or whatever you need now, not end of season. The last 5-6 games should have been treated as an opportunity for innovation, rather than a challenge to the status quo.
I've gone back and forth on Jefferson, but I've settled now on a long term approach. We can't keep chop and changing everything about our forward line, never really developing young KPFs and then wondering why our 'forward connection' never seems to improve. Melksham is so miles ahead our best leading forward, so playing Jeffo and JVR next to him as much as possible while he's still around is crucial to their development. Jeffo has played 7 games, reckon you're just being impatient tbh. Basically, you either write off a pick 15 key forward about 3-4 years before he hits his peak, or you actually be a proper grown up club and try and develop him properly first. Looking at JVR this year it's pretty clear how Goody's chop and change development strategy has hurt our key forwards.but Jeffo is trash so what does that achieve. I've personally made my mind up on Jefferson. I don't need to see him anymore after he started dropping uncontested chest marks. I was glad he was dropped.
Trac can't play forward because he's the worst kick for goal in the afl over the last 5 years.
I'm okay with giving Mentha a go though.
