As a working theory it makes sense, but with the leaking fishnet that is Melbourne I’d say we would know long ago if he was looking at options to move

Wishful thinking. Petty would know he’s on a contract superior to what he’s fetch elsewhere so is probably happy to stay.
Surely the new coach will be smart enough to chuck Petty back next year. Especially if Lever is moved as part of a list refresh.

Yeah the keep Petty forward people are short-sighted. TMac and May are pretty much done and Lever is either out the door or perennially injured or out of form. People like Adams and Petty are the future of our backline and we should be developing that.
