Why do you want to drop Kerridge?

There's a trend on this forum and it goes like this: Play well, you're in next week. Play bad, you're out next week. Some of you clowns remind me of the guy at the roulette wheel who thinks red is going to come up because it came up the last three spins.

Selection is not as straightforward as just picking on form.

And while I'm not against Stiffy being in the side, what he's done in the SANFL interests me about as much what Allefgib and his missus do after the kids have gone to bed.

Watching The Walking Dead at the moment mate. Cheering for Glen the Asian kid losing his virginity to the farm girl because 'he might die tomorrow'.
Get on it.

Is there a reason why there's no games at AAMI stadium this week?
No one panic, Lyons will be a late addition just like last week. Ohh, wait a minute, Callinan was the late addition. I predict a late change, Out - Thommo, In - Johncock.

We can then start to build our 2015 Premiership forwardline around Callinan, Porplyzia, Johncock and Jaensch.

Kerridge has been in aweful form (since winning the rising star nomination and receiving best on ground from both coaching panels 2 weeks ago). Well at least he's being replaced by an All Australian (Jaensch is an All Australian isnt he Vader?)

Crouch is a spud and can't play in the wet (well except for ripping it up in the wet against the Bulldogs in his second last game),

I look forward to seeing the full force of two pre-seasons focussed om tackling. (Porps, Jaensch, Hendo, Mackay, Callinan etc, it will be a feast).

We are playing the 9th placed team, a team who have not played finals since Noah was completing his carpentry apprenticeship. Im expecting a huge spike on Saturday

This post has nothing to do with my question... :p

Amuses me that people want to trade our depth players that have no currency, but if they get a game and increase their currency they whinge.

If we dropped all the out of form senior players we'd be walloped worse than last week. No youngsters would develop .

I'd rather us rotate than play them til they run out of steam. That works well for ever club that tries it.

Mackay is being traded out by some posters but for this to happen we can't drop him in the 2nd half of the season.

Conflicting needs at work.

And on top of that the coach can't have too many losses or he won't meet KPIs.
Flawed premise IMO. If someone plays and totally stinks it up does their perceived worth go up or down?

Look at the Ricky Henderson example. When he's not playing the media and alot of BF see him as a versatile super athlete who must be in the Crows' best team. Now that he is playing again he's a soft, positionless fringe player.

Look at Richard Tambling. 2010 he didn't get a game because he sucked. But it was dressed up as Tambling being 'out of favour' at Richmond and then in trade week we end up dishing out a first and third rounder for him.

Quick...... over there..... there is a panic station to man....... tell us when the world is ending.

Any promising youngsters still named? Might they learn something from an older player? Could we increase the trade currency of some players by giving them a shot to prove it?

You realize Callinan actually laid 4 tackles vs Sydney?. ... a lot better than you'd give him credit for.

I don't agree with all the selections but geez. Maybe you weren't taught as a youngster that throwing a tantrum every time something doesn't go the way you want is very poor form........ or maybe you were taught but you were to arrogant to learn the lesson?

Its a make or break game for Richmond and Adelaide so its not surprising that teams focus on older and more experienced players.

Have Richmond made any changes?

Lyons could go a month without playing a game.

He missed last week for a rest, by all accounts isn't going to play this week, the crows have the bye next week and the Bays have the bye the week after.

If he doesn't play next week for the Bays, I can not see him getting an AFL game the week after. Meaning the next tine he pays will be the 5th of July.

Good to see we are not stuffing this kid around.

Lyons still not in?? Wtf?? I'm speechless! What more does the poor kid have to do?
Another pathetic selection night at the AFC!

In the above link Sanderson talks up Johncock, Tambling, Riley and Grigg's SANFL form but doesn't mention Lyons. Not sure if he slipped his mind or wasn't included in the article, bit of an elephant in the room though.

EDIT: probably because he hasn't been playing sanfl much recently. im on drugs, just ignore me.

How many teams have a player that plays as a permanent forward and kicks 6 goals in a half, then plays him as a negating midfielder in his next 2 games... Then drop him ?

Adsolutely. I said in another post that Kerridge has been played out of position for the last two weeks. I am disappointed with his non selection. I can accept that Reilly has been up and down and has made some errors of judgement but mark my words our defence will fall down this week without him. I will eat my words if I am wrong. I hope I am!!

Starting to think Lyons may have done something wrong. Whilst he didn't set the world on fire in the games he played, I thought he was doing enough. Is he fit enough? Does he work hard enough on the track? Bad attitude? Must be something.

Didn't you listen to Phil? He's having a rest.

Heard lyons is pissed with non selection most of the season

Just got a feeling hawthorn may come knocking soon
Perfect replacement for mitchell long term

Did we watch the same game? He wasn't just a young player who couldn't put the team on his shoulders, he was genuinely and inexcusably poor entirely of his own accord. He didn't seem to know the game plan, he was lazy and frequently let his man run away from him, he didn't win a lot of ball, his disposal was universally poor, and he froze badly under pressure.

That's not an "Oh shucks, he's just a kid who did well despite the team, and he'll be better next week", that's an abjectly poor performance from a young player, to the point where it can be determined he is not yet ready to compete at an AFL level.

Kerridge on the other hand got absolutely stomped by Hannebury in a half of football, while contributing very little himself, the very definition of needing a spell.

My point is we are making that determination from one game where the entire team got destroyed. He was ready when he was showing good signs in the other weeks he played so what changed? His team mates perhaps?

There doesn't appear to be any plan or system this year, just lurch from one mess to another.

Johncock should be in.

Porps should be out.

Callinan stays in to prevent the coaches from embarrassing themselves, again. Crouch isn't so lucky - he's a kid though, so it can be explained a way easier. Struggled last week against the best team in the game (along with the bulk of our team), great learning experience for him... Then drop him after one game.

Lyons omission is incomprehensible. He was easily in our best half a dozen players in every game he played, apparently needed a rest... But isn't straight back in?

Any decent explanation from that polished performer Phil Harper?

Kerridge out is pretty ordinary too - won us a game single handedly, was quiet against Freo, and, like most, ordinary last week, but didnt deserve omission, IMO. Predictable though.

There doesn't appear to be any system or plan - not giving much confidence that they know what they're doing.

As McDermott said on the radio - there appear to be different sets of rules and different standards for different players. Dangerous.

Not sure how he could be pissed off. I imagine droopy dog is giving the explanation each week.

"Sorry Jarryd we like you but you're a bit slow".

"Good form Jarryd but you need a spell."

"Just another month or two and you'll be right."

Then he clearly thinks he is some kind of rock star and I can see why he is on the nose.

You honestly believe that? Gold passes or different standards (as McDermott said) can be really destructive.

He's clearly working his arse off and is easily our best performed SANFL player over the last 18 months, came in and performed well in the AFL; then dropped (rested my arse), then can't come back in.

It wouldn't take a rock star attitude to be disappointed or upset if you were in his shoes.
