So not accountable at all then? ;)

Could VB play Reilly's sweeper role? Reilly needs a spell.

Lyons really has to play as well.

Smith in that role would be a weapon.

VB would be another Reilly - crap decision making with bad foot skills.

Try Lynch in defence. Or drop Otten and bring Luke T in.

Bring Stiffy back.

Wright, Lyons and Riley all come in.

Need LJ back.

Jaensch for Callinan.

Drop;
Reilly
Otten
VB
Callinan
Porps
Petrenko

Indifferent about Hendo.

Ins: Lyons, Mackay, Brown, Wright, Grigg.

Outs: Petrenko, Callinan, Kerridge, Henderson and maybe Reilly, tho I just don't think that will happen. Thompson for the rest might smarter.
These are the most realistic changes I've seen so far.

I don't think Callinan was the worst, but I also don't think he offers much to the side anymore.

That was probably Hendo's worst game of his career.

Five changes will result in a loss.

Callinan needs a KPF to crumb from, if not he makes no impact.

Out:

Porps - Offering nothing
Pets - injured and out of form
Reilly - where's BACCS?
Otten - for simply squibbing a contest

In:

Lyons
ummmm.......
I haven't been excusing his form for a while now. He was crap last week, and he was crap this week. Started the year well, but his form has gone to shit. Realistically won't get dropped just yet, but another poor performance and I reckon it'll become reality.

Nothing irrational about those changes...

What about Dowdell or Osborn for Jacobs?

Pretty funny to call me irrational, when Ive been proven right.

Our team isn't good enough to justify not having Johncock in it.

He's been crap all year - some of us are able to see these things without needing them to be indisputably obvious before we realize it.

No changes will result in a loss.

Dropping players who don't deserve their place in the team is more important than winning next week.

I do see your point.

For me Reilly and Porps are the two that have been poor for a long time. Both need a spell.

Vince responded from being dropped after the Showdown, however some bad habits have come back in.

VB is the captain, if he was not he would also be in the gun.

Otten is slow, but is needed. We really need a to find a quick rebounding KPD. We need a fit Sam Shaw.

No, he hasn't. Just because I'm agreeing with you now, doesn't mean I was wrong earlier in the year. I can't excuse his last two weeks, they have been pathetic. So have Otten's.

And you've hardly been proven right. No combination of players yesterday would have made a spec of difference to the result.

You keep banging on about looking to the future, Stiffy isn't apart of that. Callinan gave us more yesterday than Stiffy would, and I want him dropped.

I recommend reading James_37 's post

Vince was fine yesterday. Kept JPK quiet, and has 25 touches and a goal himself. A long long long way from our worst.

Selectors this week.........

I keep banging on about playing players who DESERVE to play - REGARDLESS of age.

That would've made a difference BACCS, because it's a mindset thing.

Playing players who don't deserve it, and haven't different rules for different players is a cancer amongst the playing group. When players dominate the SANFL and the Coach pronounces how great it is to have strong SANFL performers then never actually picks them, it's toxic. When you've got senior players, and even young players, who have NO ACCOUNTABILITY for their performances, it negatively impacts the playing group.

When you've got someone like Lyons 'rested' (which we all know is bullshit) regardless of whether he's playing well or not, it demonstrates double standards are acceptable. When you've got your footy manager justifying his exclusion earlier in the year because he's too slow, everybody knows that crap, and it's an example of excuses being made to justify a selection policy which doesn't value actual performances.

Giving Martin a single game in conditions completely unsuited to him, as a sub, against a brutally pressured team, then dropping him straight away, sets a terrible example.

Giving Johncock a couple of games then dropping him when his performances didnt warrant it, while guys like Porps get chance after chance after chance - what message does that send to the playing group?

When the Coach CLEARLY has favorites like Petrenko, who are selected ahead of team mates with superior performances because the Coach likes them - how does that not create a toxic environment?

When you've got a Captain who shouldn't even be in the side, who this year has been woeful and can't even be arsed tackling, when guys like Lyons are already superior footballers, but has no accountability for his terrible performances and complete lack of on field leadership, what kind of culture and mindset does that create?

We probably would've still lost, but we wouldn't have embarrassed ourselves with a non competitive effort.

KE I think thats too many changes and too many adaptations for players remaining to make. :) - But I too am very indiffferent abotu Hendo (that was the worst game I've seen him play - 'insipid' - and so unlike him)

So on the same vein as you but less severe:

Out
VB
Reilly
Pup (injured)

In:

Stiffy
Lyons
?

Porps - professional sub
Danger (Captain), Rutten (VC) - controversial I know but I think we need some consistency and experience to support Danger.

You're right, they won't make that many changes, because of this silly notion that dropping too many players will result in a loss (fair enough, but we'll probably lose anyway).

We should make that many changes, BUT, if we were picking on merit and performances, we wouldn't need to make 6 changes this week, because we would've started making those changes a month ago.

Hendo is hugely frustrating. How long will we persist with him based on the flashes of brilliance and glimpses of potential that he shows, without actually stepping up and delivering on that potential?

1 st up Sando bring the Boxing gloves back and get some GRUNT into the players
OUT'S=Pets (inj),Porps,Callinan,Kerridge (rest)
IN'S==Lyon,Wright,Mckay,L.Thompson
For starters Try Talia at C/H/F and play Lynch or L.Thompson at C/H/B
If that doesn't work revert back to normal positions
Laird...........Rutten.............Otten
V.Berlo........L.Thompson.....Reilly
Smith..........Dangerfield......Mckay
Vince...........Tallia..............Douglas
Lynch..........Henderson.......Wright

Ruck.....Jacobs,Thompson,Sloane

Int.......Crouch,Lyon,Jenkins,Mckernan

Kingy is right, he's told us a thousand times, so he must be.

Geoffa its precisely because he is the captain that on that performance he should be dropped. That was so far from a captain's game it isn't funny. Time to make a stand.

Groan, yes maybe. Maybe it is time to drop some cruisers, make some wholesale changes, experiment a lot, change the captain and vc and give more of the kids further opportunities. It'll be a mess but might be worth it........

B Kerridge Rutten Laird
HB Smith Talia Brown
C Mackay Dangerfield Sloane
HF Vince Lynch Douglas
F Porplyzia Jenkins Jaensch
1R McKernan Thompson Crouch
INT Lyons van Berlo Grigg (Wright)

OUT: Petrenko (inj), Jacobs (inj), Callinan, Henderson, Reilly, Otten
IN: Mackay, Lyons, Jaensch, Grigg, Brown, Wright

Six changes (four unforced) is big but this is our worse loss at home in a long while. Need to be some hard calls made. Sando's first selection statement.

Major changes:
Jaensch back in and permanent small forward
Jacobs out with McKernan/Jenkins to share ruck duties
Kerridge to defence as 3rd tall
Mackay back in and wing

Line up a bit small but we've been slow as treacle and were killed at ground level yesterday.

Make no mistake , this weeks selection night is the most important in our recent history.
Surely last night was the tipping-point for a few guys careers ( at the AFC )

Be interested to see if the selection committee has the GUTS and foresight to drop the bad apples before they spoil the batch EVEN MORE THAN THEY ALREADY HAVE !!.

But they won't because " zomg we can still make the 8 "
Inb4 we produce the usual effort on the MCG and the same spuds gonna spud

With respect scoota, no, no, no... we're too far gone for that. But now I look at in that way I'd take out VB, Reilly, McKay. And I don't like that forward line at all - swap Jenkins for Hendo and McKernan for Wright (he deserves a starting position IMO) and it starts to look better... :)
