Lucky we have the SANFL as a finishing school. Crouch will turn into Gary Ablett jnr playing there for the next three weeks, and then can play game AFL number 5 as a seasoned superstar. Can't wait.

Crouch isn't ready for the AFL, that much has been clearly displayed.

Where do you suggest he plays? Because the AFL is not an option. He's an 18 year old who has not been dominating the SANFL week in week out, I think it's pretty obvious there's still a lot he can learn between the SANFL and training.

LYONS NOT IN WTF.

Also what does he have to do to get a game? Tears up the SANFL plays pretty damn well when he comes in (sub versus GWS and 2nd Q of roos game) gets dropped for a rest (at the last minute doesnt play for glenelg so he was available for selcetion) and then doesn't get brought back in when we have 4 changes?

And how is he supposed to work on his deficiencies when he's not playing football anywhere?

They're making him into Brodie Martin 2.0

Pulled out of last week's SANFL game only to be travelling emergency this week. 'Rested' my arse. I think droopy dog Harper even inferred Crouch was getting rested.

He seemed to be fine before his injury, did he lose all his skill in those few weeks? Maybe just maybe he (being young and inexperienced) couldn't put the team on his shoulders and carry them. And if he isn't ready question marks have to be asked about our development. Rated as a top 5 pick in last years draft and has an extra seasons worth of development than the others picked this year. Yet some of them seem to be doing ok.

Ha. One game rest. Two games Rest. By the time he is 30 he should be able to play out a whole season.

Hope we give Thommo a two week rest so he's fresh for his bunnies - Remember? 51!...51!...51!

If Lyons is subsequently brought in for him, I'll be happy. Would probably rather Crouch as sub as opposed to Porps but ah well. At least Crouch will now know he can't dish up an effort like that again.

Did we watch the same game? He wasn't just a young player who couldn't put the team on his shoulders, he was genuinely and inexcusably poor entirely of his own accord. He didn't seem to know the game plan, he was lazy and frequently let his man run away from him, he didn't win a lot of ball, his disposal was universally poor, and he froze badly under pressure.

That's not an "Oh shucks, he's just a kid who did well despite the team, and he'll be better next week", that's an abjectly poor performance from a young player, to the point where it can be determined he is not yet ready to compete at an AFL level.

Kerridge on the other hand got absolutely stomped by Hannebury in a half of football, while contributing very little himself, the very definition of needing a spell.

Happy Crouch got dropped, put in a half arsed effort last week and rarely chased, hopefully he takes it on the chin and performs in the twos.

Still very disappointed to see Henderson getting a game ahead of people who are genuine footballers, it is about time he repays the Crows with a decent game of football but I just don't see it happening; he's been found out at AFL level.

Our squad is starting to look weak with all the defections + talented players not developing as hoped. Good to see Reilly dropped, shows they're not blind.

We kind of knew our season had slipped away when Tex went down, to have that happen so early is awful and I don't think I've ever experienced something so deflating in sport. Clearly, we don't have a lot to work with right now and it's going to be another tough one on the weekend. Jacobs is looking like a flash in the pan which is killing us, and guys we had hoped would step it up and add depth to our running group - Mackay, Martin, Jaensch - have underwhelmed. Vince never firing a shot after 2009 has been a kick in the pants too. We don't look like a good unit on paper anymore.

Games into our young defense will hold us in really good stead going into the next few seasons, there's such promise there, more than anywhere else on the ground. The clear positive. But the outgoing personnel in recent seasons, combined with the number of players needing to be moved on with no draft picks to replace them, it paints a pretty bleak picture. I think you'll find we are put back a few years in the premiership race, which is a slightly bitter pill to swallow after being close last year. What a chance that was.

It's hard to justify the way the club has handled things lately when you look at what we're left with. In retrospect Tippett must have been set on leaving at the end of 2009, and we came up with something mad to keep him. Nothing has gone right for us since. But, it's nice to be rid of him. It's clean.

Can't see us beating Richmond. You've felt like we've been cooked since we lost our champ. What a rotten few years it has been for the Adelaide Football Club

I'm not interested in whether Crouch is ahead of Lyons or vice versa. Why does one of the two have to miss out? Your accusation of me lacking comprehension skills centres around a made up premise that only one of Lyons or Crouch can be selected.

Another polywaffle fence sitting observation. I'll go through it slowly.

Should Crouch be dropped?

Should Kerridge be dropped?

Don't tell me who they're ahead of or who they're behind or how disappointed you are about somebody else. Just answer those two questions.

They are competing for a limited number of spots. To add to that, they play very similar roles. Of course those other factors are relevant. Of course when you're dropping a player, the player who you're bringing in for them is relevant.

I don't mind if Crouch is dropped as I don't think playing in our side right now will help him develop faster than he would in the SANFL. He has lots to learn in the SANFL. At no stage did I say I expected him to be in "brownlow form." However, if he was in better form, I'd be more angry about leaving him out of the side. He isn't, and he wasn't in the SANFL prior to his call up. Not only should we drop him, he should never have been called up ahead of Lyons, who was performing, and has proven himself for Glenelg, in the first place. I love Crouch just as much as the next guy, and that's why I prefer if we'd develop him properly, rather than throwing him to the bloody wolves against Sydney. He's not far back from a persistant hamstring injury, either. Rather than use that as an excuse for his poor game, I'd rather accept it, and understand that we shouldn't be pushing a young player too hard for the sake of keeping people like you happy.

Kerridge has also never displayed more than short patches of dominance in the SANFL. He's had a good taste of AFL footy this year, and shown some great signs. He's absolutely stunk these last two weeks. Close to worst on ground two games in a row. I'm happy for him to get a rest, build on what he's learned, and come back into the side as a better, more confident player. So yes, I have no problem with him being dropped.

I shouldn't have to clarify pretty basic points like that, and THAT is why I said your comprehension skills are horrible.

According to Vader, coaches know this information before selecting a player. So, who do we blame for selecting a player before he was ready, and then playing him for a further three games??

So Lyons was dropped and not rested last week? Surprise surprise. So much for being back in a couple of weeks.

Why does Harper come on and talk absolute crap? Does he take us for fools? Well some on here buy his bullshit so I guess he does have an audience.

No joke. Can't wait for us to start bringing him in for a single game every fourth week as a specialist back pocket super sub :thumbsu:

It's only been 1 week..... they said he'd be playing again. If he's not back after the bye then we know something is up.

The coaches for getting it wrong, just like when they pick a player carrying an injury or returning from injury, and they play poorly or reinjure themselves.

In the case of young players not being up to scratch, the blame is less acute, because for them it can be difficult to know until you've tried them. Crouch has been tried, and found wanting.

Actually this week means he's missed two weeks. He played no football at all last week, that's a pretty good rest I reckon.

Loyalty being seriously tested this year with the Trigg saga and then our attitude to start of season with we (we finished one kick out of GF talk )
Then we have had this gold pass + all over the place selections all year apart from bringing in Lynch-
Laird -lyons and Kerridge in which revitalised the team and created some excitement for the future.
What the hell has Lyons done wrong absolutely dominated the SANFL week in week out far more than
any other Crow and added something extra to our team and did well and is a AFL footballer.
But out he goes and can't even get in after that debacle .
Why in the hell are Porps - Callinan and MacKay in team even Hendo etc
What do they offer short or long term . I bet if Petrenko was fit he would have received another gold pass as well.
As other posters said one of weaknesses against Swans was our pitiful tackling and this team this week is even worse.
Just ----------- unbelievable .
