I noticed he pushes forwRd is strong in the contest and seem s to be a fair shot

You think he could offer something forward with him playing deep and mason floating around?

Doubt at this stage he'd offer as much as Checkers. Better overhead mark but a lot less agility and physicality. Doubt we could go with all of Cox, Checkers, Lynch and JDG. Another development year ahead for the lad unless/until injuries occur.

Not sure on changes,
If we had of kicked straighter and converted, thinking Pendles sorry but every time he kicks for goal i brace my self and say this is going left,Cox,Treloar,Grundy had shots at goal that should have been converted.
Then the open goal that was blown!
So that is 5 goals missed and we lost by 7 points.
For me no change at this stage.
They missed quite a few as well and had a similar amount of shots. Not sure on all the OOTF's tho.

Wills played well as a mid or forward?
Great news he played well

Wills played through the midfield. Got reported for a sling tackle so await the outcome of that. Should be thrown out.

I’d go with Sier in for Mayne.
I think he will start to be exposed this year—last year was the element of surprise as a wingman.

We have plenty of players who can play across the middle but none as a point of difference like Sier for his size.

I’d go out Mayne and in Sier.

If any changes it would be either Thomas or Brown, or due to an injury.

Not sure who would come in perhaps someone that trains the house down this week.

Going off RD1 I would drop Thomas as he was MIA

I really do like the Lynch idea, maybe not right now, but a possibility.

Mainly because I believe teams have to play 2 genuine ruckman. Also feel we were exposed when Cox was in the ruck and Grundy off the ground.

We have no genuine KPF when Cox rucks and Grundy off the ground.

Center clearances with Cox in the middle and Grundy off the ground make our forward line very short.

I wouldn’t be against Roughead (eventually) moving into the forward line if/when Dunn & Schaz are back.

Mihocek is fantastic on the ground, but provides little aierally .

Indeed they had there fair share also,
The changes this year discussion will be interesting if the current squad stay's fit.
EG:Hoskin Elliott and Taylor Adams are up and running.

And numerous other players in our squad.

Bit odd that Sier is not even mentioned?

In the mix for The Tigers

Levi Greenwood
Played in both of the Pies' JLT Community Series matches, but was the carryover emergency for the AFL clash with Geelong in round one, meaning he didn't play at any level last weekend. Could come into contention if the Pies decide they need to clamp down on the Tigers' midfield or need more support in defence.

Flynn Appleby
Put his hand up by producing a typically dependable performance down back in the VFL practice match against the Cats last Friday.

Tyler Brown
Was an impressive contributor as an inside midfielder in the VFL Pies' loss to Geelong, further enhancing his chances of making his AFL debut in the near future after some eye-catching play during the JLT Community Series.

Ben Crocker
Played mainly on the wing in the VFL practice match against the Cats. Won plenty of the ball and also looked dangerous when pushing forward.

F: Stephenson Cox Elliott
HF: De Goey Mihocek Thomas
C: Treloar Pendlebury Crisp
HB: Howe Moore Maynard
B: Goldsack Roughead Langdon
R: Grundy Sidebottom Beams
INT: Sier Greenwood Varcoe Phillips

Was just a check up. He is fine.

A check up? Thanks for the chuckle 👍

No one goes in to get scans as a check up. They would have been investigating the extent of the “injury” he sustained on Friday night.

It actually wouldn’t be the worst thing for Pendles to miss because it would force our hand a bit on re-structuring a midfield that clearly was NQR. He’s also no longer the massive out he once was.

Against Richmond your inclusion of Goldsack into the backline would make us too big, not mobile enough. The inclusion of Goldsack would give us five players 190cm or taller compared to Richmond's three players 182cm or shorter. The matchups would just not work and leave us exposed.

Tend to agree with you. Will give the team more incentive to lift, especially Steele, while getting some inside grunt from his replacement.

If he is not 100% we shouldn't play him. There is a long season ahead.

Yeah you might have a point. Was thinking some combo of Varcoe, Maynard, Langdon, Greenwood, Goldsack could handle their smalls down back.

Desperately want more aggression, pace, attack and hardness than Mayne, Aish and Brown give us.

I think Langdon could do the job on Riewoldt and let Moore take Lynch. We may have one tall too many in defense?
Balta is tall as well.

I actually think we might have one too few. Langdon might be the one to go to Jack (as you say)
