Yes, you make some good points. Apart from the incredible skill errors, which (hopefully) won't be repeated, the two things that really frustrated me were:
1. The number of times we moved the ball forward really slowly, allowing the Cats to flood our F50 zone, leaving our forwards no time or space and forcing our ball carriers to predictably bomb it long hoping for miraculous contested marks, which didn't eventuate. We've got to get in there faster.
2. The number of times we won the ball on half back line, start moving the ball forward quickly only to find no team-mates within 70 metres of goal. To me that screams lazy two-way running. If our mids and forwards are going to push high up the ground to help defend, they also have to turn and sprint back to goal when we win the ball. If they haven't got the running speed/endurance to do it, then they shouldn't push up so high.
The whole match seemed to fluctuate between instances of No.1 and No.2 above. We couldn't seem to get the balance right.
Its funny that Bucks was so critical of our defence. I though our defence performed better than our mids and forwards (Elliott excepted). As a general comment, I think our mids' two-way running is often quite poor and many of our defeats can be traced back to it. I don't really think its a fitness thing, I think its an attitude thing.
I just pretend it’s the west coast Michael Gardiner and we missed out on him
Well there you go. The short blurb is pretty spot on "was brought along slowly by the Magpies". Really bloody slowly.

Ben Crocker
Played mainly on the wing in the VFL practice match against the Cats. Won plenty of the ball and also looked dangerous when pushing forward.
Shhhhhhh.I love that everyone is now wondering whether or not Crocker will come in![]()
If Crocker plays and has more than 15 touches, I'll eat pubes.
Believe that Houli is out for the Tigers. He is a big loss for them IMO.
Anyone else heard that Rance is unlikely with an injury concern?
If it’s at the expense of the right player I’d have no issue with Crocker coming in on a wing. I have doubts over him making it, but I’d prefer to have a look at it rather than lock in a mix of Greenwood, Mayne, Brown and Aish over the course of the next 20 odd matches.
Workhorse for Workhorse?
The main thing Crocker has going for him is work rate. And there is definitely roles for those players some necessity for grunt to mix with polish but in balance. I think he lacks a yard in pace and is so so skills wise but has a crack is the heart and soul type.
He may make it as a bit player but i guess where my view point is why not play a more naturally gifted type (form permitting) to increase the teams ceiling while they develop aka Seir or Quaynor or other. Obviously team shuffle would be needed to accommodate certain types.
I think we cant have both wings filled with slow to medium paced players, once the wing was the sole domain of the teams whippet's who not only ran all day but were also a quick and penetrating. Isaac Smith types or even Daisy pre injury at pies. I think you can have 1 side with an enduro beast like Sidey but having both sides and the center square largely filled with same same types isnt a great mix.
