Real sus on that assessment. If Wills had played that much better he’d have got the call up himself. One things for sure I’m not taking onboard the clubs comments or posters on any Wills and Sier updates.
I’m only going on comments from people who watched the VFL game. As it stands, Greenwood was first in line as the emergency so it makes sense to me to bring him in ahead of Wills, who was underwhelming in JLT.

And really, not sure why Wills playing better than Sier (who reportedly played a pretty below average game) would elevate him ahead of Greenwood, who at least has runs on the board in regards to relatively recent senior footy.

You sure? Dusty did beat him on the day right?

No, that was my recollection too. Greenwood blanketed Martin when he was in the middle but didn’t play on him when Martin was rotated to FF and Martin beat whoever was on him only at that point. Can’t remember who was responsible for him when at FF.

No.

Dusty wenr forward. Greenwood didn't play on him forward.
That's what happened in the prelim, but in the previous encounter, Greenwood stuck with him up forward as well. Greenwood quelled him in the guts, but Dusty smashed him as a forward.

Richmond people literally are the dumbest fans in footy.

Reading a post on their board saying we only pumped them by 7 goals in the PF because some of their guys went in 'sore'. And that a fit list will see them beat us again as they did in the H&A season....

....don't mention the fact that both times we played in the regular season, we were decimated by injuries or anything :drunk:

That wasn’t really the direction I was taking I was more getting at Wills perhaps not being as good as some said and Sier possibly not as poor. The reports were limited on the match and Sier has never been one that is obvious in his work. I think I would just leave any comments on those two in particular until I’d watched them roll around with my own eyes.

FWIW I gave up on trying to make sense of selection long ago. T Brown ahead of Sier for both pre-season matches says it all for me on that front 👍

Yeah, most of them think the whole team had Gastro lol Can't admit were beat by a better team on the day.

I'm happy to be corrected. But I don't remember Greenwood staying with him for too long once he went forward?
I can still remember Greenwood's facial expression when Dusty took a chest mark on him in the goal square.

FFS have faith - this is Cwood - it will happen - world's best practice right here........ - skills honed over decades of pain, frustration, disillusionment, agony, disbelief etc etc- just hang in there - panic is coming...........

I know I know. But sometimes I start thinking crazy and I start to believe that we're going to keep a balanced attitude to the season. But I know I have to keep faith in the faithful. At the right time, I'm sure pie fans will do the right thing and panic... Thank god for BF. Just coming here makes me feel better.

Predictable change in the end, hopefully some cobwebs blown out last week and we don't rock up looking rusty as again..

De Goey and Howe in particular I hope are better for last week's run

I'm fairly sure Howe has taken Martin when forward in the past and done well. I can't recall if it happened in that game.

Hopefully Greenwood keeps Cotchin's nose out of it and then I'm confident that the combined weight of our midfield with do more damage than what Dusty and the rest of them can do. I'm just worried Richmond's forward line will do more damage than ours. Took a once in a lifetime game from Cox to beat them last time.

I'd play Pendles as a run-with on Cotchin.

I thought he looked unfit. Should’ve come back through the vfl practice games or he wasn’t ready to play. Same with Stephenson and probably a few others like Howe.

That may be true yet De Goey was still one of our most impactful players against Geelong. It goes to show we can afford to have him gain fitness in the AFL because he still performs. Even if that's at a reduced level from his peak. The match commitee got that decision right in my opinion.

I do agree we had 1 or 2 too many underdone players across the field though. That was a mistake but one I think we just need to ride out now.

Wills and Lynch clearly our best from the 2 quarters I watched. Greenwood was the carry over emergency though so he clearly had the front running.

So I'm guessing the forward match ups will be something like:

Cox vs Astbury
Mihocek vs Broad
De Goey vs Grimes
Elliott vs Vlastuin
Stephenson vs Short
Thomas vs Markov

Given they didn't bring in a CHB i'm thinking they still have decent match ups. However those last two match ups I reckon really favour us and we will stretch them a bit.

Won't make a lot of difference if we don't lift midfield performance.

The oddest things about emergencies is in reality we can put anyone in last minute, anyway, if required.
If they aren’t named as emergency there’s a fine ofcourse.

Generally it’s only a last minute thing and I suspect one or two emergencies are named to indicate to players missing games they are getting close. Or it’s an encouragement or even a thank you.
How else do we explain Blair as an emergency last GF?

Looking at this week’s emergencies, Goldsack not named. If they felt he was needed last moment he’d play.

I’d think they have one or two max in their thinking for tonight (just in case).
Callum Brown and maybe even Crocker are the two marked to come in.
Appelby and Wills are the “you’re doing well boys”.

I think you're thinking of the R19 game. Martin had a dirty night in the PF.
