Moore and Roughhead seem natural match ups on Reiwoldt and Lynch. If Moore takes Lynch, he will be able to run off him and create more attack, but if that happens, Reiwoldt might be too quick and agile for Roughhead.Moore will be all over him.

We need run.
In Quaynor
Out Degoey (not fit)
i know i might be going a little early on this one but i like to be ahead of the pack.... i think we should think about dropping buckley....
Cal Brown looked a great prospect in his first games, though his lack of size was apparent. Now he seems to have lost even those early performance skills and attributes. As you say, he offers little more than romance and nostalgia. And I just don’t see what Cal Brown offers other than the romance of being the son of a Club legend.
I wouldn’t be dropping Phillips or Varcoe, but I agree with you on our ball movement.Long time reader, first time poster.
Biggest change needed is not personnel but speed of ball movement. We were so deplorably slow in moving the ball forward. So many short sideways kicks and handballs to stationary team-mates that padded the stats sheets of Phillips, Pendles, Mayne and Sidey but added nothing other than giving Cats more time to flood back and choke our forward line.
We are a dynamic, high scoring team when we get it in really quickly either one-out to Cox or into space for our mobile forwards to run onto. Last night it was so congested in our F50, giving our runners no space and making it easy to double- or triple-team Cox.
Also, I don’t rate Phillips at all. Opposition coaches happy for him to get 30+ touches because his disposals hurt us more than them. He may be a great runner but he is the worst kick on our list. He’s a left-foot version of Josh Smith. And I just don’t see what Cal Brown offers other than the romance of being the son of a Club legend.
We need Adams and WHE asap but unless they’re available for me it’s:
OUT Brown Phillips Varcoe
IN Greenwood Sier Daicos
GO PIES!

It would not be a small shock to bring in Crocker it would be massive. As far as I’m concerned he should rot in the VFL and the only time he should be on an AFL ground is when he holds the banner up for them to run through.
An aside might be a small shock dropping of Thomas for Crocker?
Doubt they’d pull this trigger at this stage but this could be the shock at selection.
Don’t get Varcoe or Aish. Might be worth persevering with Brown, don’t want to break his confidence.Out: Aish, Brown, Varcoe
In: ?
Nobody fumbles more than Greenwood, and sier had a shocker yesterday. I think Goldsack in, not sure for who there were many bad performances but I think stephenson or MaynardIf Sier is deemed ready then he comes in for Brown. If not then Greenwood.
Sier averages close to 20 disposals per game and his ratio of contested to uncontested is higher than all our other midfielders.
Adams is second best and those two missing hurts us at the coal face.
With Elliott returning one wonders whether Varcoe is a luxury we can live without especially once Hoskin-Elliott and Adams are right to go.
It was your typical Varcoe game tonight, he produces some eye catching moments but fumbled a couple of times also that were costly.
Finished the night with just 9 disposals, 0 goals, 1 goal assist, 4 tackles, 1 1% and a lowly 37 metres gained.
Don’t get Varcoe or Aish. Might be worth persevering with Brown, don’t want to break his confidence.
I think goldsack should come in.

Fair point. But it did work last year and I also think the issue was less about balance and more about poor execution. I could deal with Brown being dropped but would be concerned about what that does to his head space. He was poor in JLT 1, came back a lot better in the second game.Team balance > an individual players confidence
Team balance wasn’t right last night with too many sub 180cm smalls (JT, Varcoe, Brown and Elliott). One of that group should be demoted. Varcoe and JT have credits in the bank, IMO.
Reflecting further on last night, our F50 was either impossibly crowded or totally empty.
The former is a function of really slow ball movement, while the latter is a function of our forwards pushing too far up the ground and not having the speed/fitness/effort to sprint back when we win a turnover.
Welcome
There were times when our ball movement was lighting speed ...
... but that relied on us running forward and hitting our targets ...
... but when we missed our targets (as happened often last night to both teams - the ball was greasy and it was round 1) we were found out of position and so got smashed on the counter.
We didn’t have the skills last night to get it into our forward 50 as often as we should have. It was a bit like wet weather football.
Sure, it wasn’t his greatest game ...
... but he surprised no-one when he polled sixth in last year’s Copeland. He’ll be right.
It was only his 14th game and he’s had better games.
